Great idea! Thanks! The only change I would make would be to run the tape loops directly around once or twice (as you suggest in order to protect against the zip tie ends coming through) versus spiraling down the length of the potholder. I think that might give me a better finished look as laying down a sweet concentric spiral with tape is tough; for me anyways! Thanks again! I'd rather save the $ for ammo or other accessories for which there are no DIY alternatives.
This is exactly what I needed for my idea. I just wanted some cheap heat resistant fabric that I could put on my AR but then I watched your video and as soon as you mentioned the pot holder I had that eureka moment. So thank you man! Appreciate the video it really helped me
That a great idea. Thanks. It’s a possibility that you could maybe 1 zip tie. Yes. Use all 3 zip ties at first. Begging tape in the middle one wrapping it very tightly moving towards the next zip tie left or right whatever direction you want to. Before you wrap over the second tip tie. Cut it. Then continue wrapping to whichever end. Cut the wrap. Then start the wrap over. Towards the third zip tie. And again. Right before. You wrap over the third one. Cut it and continue???
Stupid question but why not look for solid black pot holders and make holes to run 550 cord so you can do some sort of cable management as well as a few holes for maybe a foregrip or something i could be wrong
Bruh this cartoon chef SHOULD be front & center. That guy HARD AF. You see a man with a bone face and antlers growing from his head come through the stack, and just before your head becomes a river-canoe, the last thing you glimpse is a cartoon twirl-stache man who’s knife skillz a mafia butcher would be afraid of… can’t think of a more fitting end & a perfect memory for a tyrant’s last to ponder for his trip to hell… plus it’s 100% more camo than black. 🥸😁☠️
Is Goon Tape notorious for being not sticky at all? I just bought a roll for the first time and it barely sticks to anything. Kind of disappointing. Should I ask for a refund or is this the norm?
Okay this is a bad idea for a number of reasons…but lets start with number 1. How in the world is going to get the cookies out of the oven later?! 🍪 😡 2. His enemies are going to smell the previous cookies…tisk tisk
Actually at the end of the day he's had ton of fun without having to stop due to heat while devising an ingenious solution exactly like the military teaches...adapt and overcome. What have you come up with? Ah....just snarky rhetoric at the end of your day.....
But at the end of the day, "Gear Check 101," you've got your expensive rail wrap, your spotless Ford 350 Lariat Crew Cab, your unfaithful and very expensive exwives, the "biggest and best of everything," yet a tiny worm 'tween your legs.
Not fire proof but if it can handle grabbing a 400 degree pan from the oven it can handle the heat from a few mags. Unless you are doing an Iraqveteran8888 full auto melt down it will work like a champ i use paracord and it works great
Being a cheap ass, I can't believe I haven't thought of this before. This is simple and genius! Works just as good, and costs 5 bucks versus 80.
Beautiful brother, saved a fellow range-nut 50 bucks!! Thanks so much!
Needlenose to pull zip ties can be useful but can break weaker ties. Also using wire cutters or fingernail clippers gives a cleaner cut.
Genius thought. Seriously, never even crossed my mind.
Very nice. I bet you could even make it thinner by removing the outer fabric (with a stitch remover) and only use the thermal material.
this was what i was thinking, definitely would be an improvement this way!

Wow 🤩 you’re a genius and to think I was literally about to spend $100 for a Burn Proof Rail Wrap on Amazon… 🤦🏽♂️
Genius. With better quality control than most companies.👍🏾
A quick YT search brought me to your video. Perfect, thank you. 😊

Great idea bro, thanks for the details. Definitely doing this to my DMR, the mirage gets insane after a good bit a rounds.
I wonder if you could do a few more zip ties, and then cut them off as you wrap. Then you dont have the bulge from the zip tie head.

I use rolls of 2" fiberglass exhaust wrap. Higher heat tolerance and its quite versatile. No zipties, just tightly wrapped camo fabric tape.
I was just about to do the exact same!
isn’t fiberglass bad to get on your hands?
and won’t it keep more heat in
@@stevenkhan4344 yeah I mean it's not great. I cover the fiberglass with fabric adhesive wrap
@@stevenkhan4344 yes it holds more heat. Life goes on though
Pretty nifty little trick! I wouldn't do this myself but it is a pretty smart idea.
great idea. i would like to see it used on a suppressor!
Thank you for the video. I almost spent $45 for a wrap online. This is right up my ally!
Bad ass man!! I love it and will definitely share this. 🤘
This is incredible. Thanks for sharing.
Honest question. What is goon tape? Is that like the hockey cloth tape?
Nice , great use of gaffers tape...
I used the pulverized lava rock exhaust header wrap. 3000 degrees and about $15.
just did this to my ar thanks bro for saving me a shit tone of money
Cool idea, I might run my fore grip through it and use more zip ties as finger grips for max comfort
You’re the man bro, great idea!
Looks great! Thanks!
Very clever
Cool. I can match my rifle with the holiday season.
Hell yeah.
Too bad I'm in the quad rail gang.
And ideas for a m lock rail for a mossberg mmr tactical?
Picked one up for my son.
Thank you. I appreciate the video.
Use the "cobra" zip ties. I used them scuba diving. They lay flat!
Creative ! I think ima try this
Awesome!! Thanks bro 😎
Nice, good idea.
Looks good!

Isn’t that basically the same tape you would wrap a tennis racket or hockey stick handle with?
Gunna wrap my lights too . Gotta find that tape tho
Excellent dude.
Wouldn't the tape and the plastic zip ties melt after a while or catch fire?
Nylon has a melting temp of 400ish if I remember correctly.
Awesome
awesome
Where do gun accessory companies get off charging close to $100 for a handguard wrap.
That’s a brilliantly simple idea!
I wonder how this would work on a suppressor.
....no.
this is legit

🔥🔥
Legit
But at the end of the day you got a cartoon chef pot holder zip tied to your gun.
...And 50 dollars.

I'll be using my SpongeBob pot holder myself
never go full reetard
This’ll be a godsend for my Bushmaster M17. That extruded aluminum receiver tube gets hot as hell after a few mags.
Kinda dumb, that shit isn’t fireproof, that’s why you pay a premium for actual rail wraps

Neither is polymer mlok attachments and accessories people run but here we are
Where did you get your goon tape? Nowhere in my town can I find goon tape.
