There was inappropriate treatment and focus of the murderer as a child all throughout the trial. All of his past as a child is irrelevant to his actions as an adult
Have you ever thought about, why only the usa has school shooters????! Might have something to do with american culture, their adoration of guns and war and violence. The most violent war games come from the usa and consumed by your teenagers day and night. Teenagers have access to guns, all this is worth changing, but instead you hype the death penalty.
Nothing but compassion and heartfelt sorrow for all of these families. I have no children so I can't imagine, but damn, I know they must have unimaginable pain and anger.
The death penalty is wrong and unconstitutional in all cases. The FBI says it, the ACLU says it, and police chiefs say it. Source: ACLU, "The death penalty - questions and answers" "The ACLU believes that, in all circumstances, the death penalty is unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment. We also believe that the death penalty continues to be applied in an arbitrary and discriminatory manner in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment." Guttenberg is wrong for wishing justice be served by prisoners. If that's how he thinks, then he should have tried to kill the shooter himself. Wishing that prisoners mete out vigilante justice is dangerous to the entire prison community, not to mention the guards. The shooter will remain in prison, and never be released. His life is all but ruined, and he's as good as gone. If this is how the parents are reacting, then I'm disappointed with them.
Some people say that life in prison is worse than the death penalty. There is the one women Pam Smart that got life in prison without parole for being the mastermind behind her husband's murder and she said that she wishes she got the death penalty.
Very stupid comment.
My heart is breaking for all the people affected by this. I agree 100% with what they say. It is a travesty that ONE person made the wrong decision and now these people will suffer even more knowing their loved ones did NOT get justice!!!
@@Nonowness Here's a FACT for you...that comment was made when the same day the families were reacting to the verdict. It was reported at the time that 'ONE LONE JUROR' was the hold-out that made him not get the death penalty. It was not reported until weeks later the actual breakdown. So get a LIFE and stop going through old comments chastising people you LOSER!
But fact is it was not just one juror. And anyways to demand that the jurors decide what the parents want them to decide shows how little they understand the role of the jurors and that they dont accept the law. The death penalty has nothing to do with justice. The state paying somebody to kill somebody, what a insanity. It wont stop school schooters, banning guns would. But americans dont understand this basics. Have a look at europe, no death penalties and no school schooter problem and nobody possesing guns. You teach your children that gun possesion is something heroic, that is the outcome.
I feel bad for this couple and all the parents who lost children to this shooter. The verdict will certainly open the door to new shooters. Hopefully life in prison will be worse than the death penalty. This shooter would been safe for at least 10 years before execution. In prison the inmates will probably torture him to death. I grew up at a different time. Poor with no food except what I found in farmlands and second hand clothes. At least I understood I should not murder someone at the age of 4 years. I can't believe what has happened by this society. not good at all. 😮💨
The most important takeaway for me here is the anger towards law enforcement failing to step in on time, and stop showing this murderer's face. I've rewatched all the parents reactions, all their anger is valid and justified, but the system worked exactly how it's intended. It often disappoints and MANY feel disenfranchised by it -- for example, people are incarcerated under false conditions and even sentenced to death as well, and have even been found to be innocent after they are executed. It should motivate them to continue to fight to change the SYSTEM. Jurors are simply part of it, as a jury of peers, we are all human, and are entitled to what ever opinion re: DP, even after seeing so much evidence. I personally had no firm stance on capital punishment EVER, but seeing now the utter *disappointment* felt collectively over the "failure" to reach a DP verdict has shocked me. I guess now that I'm old enough to really understand the gravity of state-sanctioned punishment by death, it just doesn't add up for me. The way that capital punishment works is a formal process and the criminal has time to come to terms with their fate and also does not experience anything comparable to the acts they commit. Furthermore, in these grieving parents emotions, they are equating failure to give the death penalty as "letting him off" -- life in prison is not going to be a good time. As it is, Florida has the most death sentences of any state in the country, with 1,234. So he could've been number 1,235... and then what? Wait 18 years for a lethal injection? What does it ultimately accomplish? Do people really think people commit murders and have never heard of the death penalty or life in prison? The problem is not ultimately NC. He is simply a part of the bigger problem. We all have to fight harder for justice for all.

After seeing this I ask myself why even have such a long case? Makes no sense to pay taxes only to allow evil to continue doing evil! In other words between the so called juror and justice they are opening the doors for more assholes to due their evil! If we as people don't due something to stop this unfairness in justice to stop this by making an example of any person that does evil it will STOP!!!!! We need to due and act as an example of what can happen to you if you dare due evil!!!!!

That 1 juror who ever it was needs to be held accountable its a cut and dry death penalty case I feel terrible for these families and the ones murdered 😢
God bless their heart and give them strength….Broward county leaders shame on you…our county is 2nd in the entire country in crime record…and law enforcement if you are afraid to die in the line of duty I don’t blame you but get yourself another job….
I would have voted for death if I was on the jury. It seems like it would have been worth the appeal it would have automatically triggered. The precedent set was: be a mass killer = better really really love being in prison. Life in prison without parole is not about rehab. One juror did not think the appeal that a death sentence would trigger would be worth it.
You don’t respond to a murderer by doing the same thing to him , that he did What message does that send to our kids We respond to murder by murder That is what execution by the state is , murder , on the death certificate of an executed inmate it reads “ intentional homicide life in prison was the correct sentence , bravo Jury , execution doesn’t belong in a civilised society
Alyssa looked to be a very warm, happy spirited harmless nice young lady; her parents must be torn. However, it is my belief that the shooter will suffer much more with life without parole vs a humane way of being put to sleep or the death sentence..he has a lot of internal demons to fight with while in prison and he won’t be able to kill anyone else which will clearly make him feel worse day after day...
This is why laws don't change we are not before God get there is no place in this society for monsters like this hr should have gotten the dp period!!! This hsd nothing to do with God we are on this earth and there has to be a stop to these people!!
We pray to a God that doesn't exist...we as beautiful people are alone...what these people have lost...same as the German concentration camps...God did nothing to stop evil...these beautiful human lives lost because God doesn't exist...beautiful humans r alone 🧡🧡🧡

I'm with the parents 100%.
I'm with Mercy 100 percent.
I agree
I’m with all of those parents
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 And I’m so sorry you have to go through this injustice 😔
I can feel the horrible pain of this father especially. It's awful that these families couldn't get the justice they deserved.

Karma would be for a juror to lose a loved one to violence and the parents finding the perpetrator innocent.
Patents 100% right for feeling betrayed.
Absolutely
Exactly I bet who voted NO NEVER LOST A LOVED ONE TO GUN VIOLENCE. VERY IGNORANT OF THEM.
Its like the jury didn't have guts to give him the death penalty dearly
Jury system is flawed.
Justice This is far from Justice. What a sham

That Is not vigilante justice! A prison inmate is probably the MOST qualified out of anybody else to serve justice to Nick.

She was also at the Highland Park and Nashville shootings.
I’m disgusted as well sir ! Well said !

Enough with the tears and prayers! It doesn't change how these parents feel or the injustice!
My heart is breaking for all the people affected by this. I agree 100% with what they say. It is a travesty that ONE person made the wrong decision and now these people will suffer even more knowing their loved ones did NOT get justice!!!
You dont even know the basic facts, 3 people were against the death penalty, 4 were indecisive and only 7 jurors wanted the death penalty.

This hurts every single time I watch it, Idk why I keep coming back..there is something about this shooting my brain is never gonna relinquish

Some of other prisoners might be less merciful ...
It's just awful.. No justice.. It's like giving a green light to the next mass killing..

People have got the death penalty for a lot less than this.

I agree with all the parents.
None of those juriors kids were among those seventeen innocent tennagers
Getting the death Penalty is too easy for him.
It's not ok !!!

Unfortunately Alyssa's Law was never in effect.
So sad for this parents 😢
Cruz already attacked to guard, he will not live long.

totally agree
God forbid you two end up on a death penalty jury. If you are truthfull if you are called you won't get the chance.

I thought he would get the death penalty too.
Boward County, a Democrat stronghold.
This couple looks somehow scary.
How?
Killing him will not ease their grief. We must show mercy.Maybe then this can stop.God will handle this.
This is why laws don't change we are not before God get there is no place in this society for monsters like this hr should have gotten the dp period!!! This hsd nothing to do with God we are on this earth and there has to be a stop to these people!!
No I think the other inmates will do things to this killer can't imagine, then kill him Maybe with no Vaseline🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 delusional trumper
Where was god when the shots were riddling the bodies?
Fuck off with the self-righteous God bullshit. Where was God when this fuck was shooting kids in a school? Shut the fuck up.
And would you say this if your daughter was killed in a most cruel long death possible answer.
