There was inappropriate treatment and focus of the murderer as a child all throughout the trial. All of his past as a child is irrelevant to his actions as an adult

Have you ever thought about, why only the usa has school shooters????! Might have something to do with american culture, their adoration of guns and war and violence. The most violent war games come from the usa and consumed by your teenagers day and night. Teenagers have access to guns, all this is worth changing, but instead you hype the death penalty.

Karma would be for a juror to lose a loved one to violence and the parents finding the perpetrator innocent.
Patents 100% right for feeling betrayed.

The death penalty is wrong and unconstitutional in all cases. The FBI says it, the ACLU says it, and police chiefs say it. Source: ACLU, "The death penalty - questions and answers"
"The ACLU believes that, in all circumstances, the death penalty is unconstitutional under the Eighth Amendment. We also believe that the death penalty continues to be applied in an arbitrary and discriminatory manner in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment."
Guttenberg is wrong for wishing justice be served by prisoners. If that's how he thinks, then he should have tried to kill the shooter himself.
Wishing that prisoners mete out vigilante justice is dangerous to the entire prison community, not to mention the guards.
The shooter will remain in prison, and never be released. His life is all but ruined, and he's as good as gone.
If this is how the parents are reacting, then I'm disappointed with them.

Some people say that life in prison is worse than the death penalty. There is the one women Pam Smart that got life in prison without parole for being the mastermind behind her husband's murder and she said that she wishes she got the death penalty.

@@Nonowness Here's a FACT for you...that comment was made when the same day the families were reacting to the verdict. It was reported at the time that 'ONE LONE JUROR' was the hold-out that made him not get the death penalty. It was not reported until weeks later the actual breakdown. So get a LIFE and stop going through old comments chastising people you LOSER!

    • @Nonowness
      @Nonowness Год назад

But fact is it was not just one juror. And anyways to demand that the jurors decide what the parents want them to decide shows how little they understand the role of the jurors and that they dont accept the law. The death penalty has nothing to do with justice. The state paying somebody to kill somebody, what a insanity. It wont stop school schooters, banning guns would. But americans dont understand this basics. Have a look at europe, no death penalties and no school schooter problem and nobody possesing guns. You teach your children that gun possesion is something heroic, that is the outcome.

I feel bad for this couple and all the parents who lost children to this shooter. The verdict will certainly open the door to new shooters. Hopefully life in prison will be worse than the death penalty. This shooter would been safe for at least 10 years before execution. In prison the inmates will probably torture him to death.
I grew up at a different time. Poor with no food except what I found in farmlands and second hand clothes. At least I understood I should not murder someone at the age of 4 years. I can't believe what has happened by this society. not good at all. 😮‍💨

The most important takeaway for me here is the anger towards law enforcement failing to step in on time, and stop showing this murderer's face. I've rewatched all the parents reactions, all their anger is valid and justified, but the system worked exactly how it's intended.
It often disappoints and MANY feel disenfranchised by it -- for example, people are incarcerated under false conditions and even sentenced to death as well, and have even been found to be innocent after they are executed. It should motivate them to continue to fight to change the SYSTEM. Jurors are simply part of it, as a jury of peers, we are all human, and are entitled to what ever opinion re: DP, even after seeing so much evidence. I personally had no firm stance on capital punishment EVER, but seeing now the utter *disappointment* felt collectively over the "failure" to reach a DP verdict has shocked me. I guess now that I'm old enough to really understand the gravity of state-sanctioned punishment by death, it just doesn't add up for me. The way that capital punishment works is a formal process and the criminal has time to come to terms with their fate and also does not experience anything comparable to the acts they commit. Furthermore, in these grieving parents emotions, they are equating failure to give the death penalty as "letting him off" -- life in prison is not going to be a good time. As it is, Florida has the most death sentences of any state in the country, with 1,234. So he could've been number 1,235... and then what? Wait 18 years for a lethal injection? What does it ultimately accomplish? Do people really think people commit murders and have never heard of the death penalty or life in prison? The problem is not ultimately NC. He is simply a part of the bigger problem. We all have to fight harder for justice for all.

After seeing this I ask myself why even have such a long case? Makes no sense to pay taxes only to allow evil to continue doing evil! In other words between the so called juror and justice they are opening the doors for more assholes to due their evil! If we as people don't due something to stop this unfairness in justice to stop this by making an example of any person that does evil it will STOP!!!!! We need to due and act as an example of what can happen to you if you dare due evil!!!!!

I would have voted for death if I was on the jury. It seems like it would have been worth the appeal it would have automatically triggered. The precedent set was: be a mass killer = better really really love being in prison. Life in prison without parole is not about rehab. One juror did not think the appeal that a death sentence would trigger would be worth it.

You don’t respond to a murderer by doing the same thing to him , that he did
What message does that send to our kids
We respond to murder by murder
That is what execution by the state is , murder , on the death certificate of an executed inmate it reads “ intentional homicide
life in prison was the correct sentence , bravo Jury , execution doesn’t belong in a civilised society

Alyssa looked to be a very warm, happy spirited harmless nice young lady; her parents must be torn. However, it is my belief that the shooter will suffer much more with life without parole vs a humane way of being put to sleep or the death sentence..he has a lot of internal demons to fight with while in prison and he won’t be able to kill anyone else which will clearly make him feel worse day after day...
