  • Here is a video I recorded with Joan Butts shortly before the world got turned upside down a few months ago (just a few months ago?!?!) and somehow it got lost in the shuffle. I'm glad to finally be sharing it now.
With this interesting hand from Joan's website, we have a lovely heart sequence, but with East having bid hearts, will we want to lead the top of the sequence? Or is there a better option for our opening lead. What would you lead? Joan's recommendation might surprise you!
Joan - who already gave us some helpful pointers about opening leads against NT contracts in a previous video ( • Opening leads against ... ) - is back with some tips for our opening leads against suit contracts.
We want to be more aggressive leading against suit contracts because we don't want the opponents to be able to trump our winners later.
Take your tricks early! Unlike playing in notrump contracts, we don't have time to develop our long suits.
As with leads against NT contracts, be sure you understand the common guidelines for opening leads and be consistent.
