Very nice, and informative. The biggest hurdle of any new playthrough is making a checklist of things to grab (and things to skip). I’m going to use this on my next run, I’ve neglected Incantations so far. If you’re taking suggestions, a guide to a Beast Build would be interesting. A Str/Fth build designed to get the most out of Beast spells. I’m considering such a run eventually, going naked with Clawmark and Cinqueda, Blue Dancer, and whatever else. The weapon sucks besides the spell buff, but there are a lot of Str/Fth weapons that can replace it later. Honestly, the hardest part of this build is getting as many Deathroots as soon as possible. 5 are easy, but the 6th one would be challenging for a low level.
Oh nice, will try that for my dragon build! Tbh Fire Giant was one of the only bosses that I didn’t experiment with. Went in there with Black Flame to get some meme footage, unexpectedly first tried him and didn’t look back 😂. Thanks for watching!

One weapon I like to use for a faith build is the Envoy's Long Horn... mainly for dragons, wyrms, and death birds. Not only do the bubbles delete them, but the horn itself does a ton of damage since it's a great hammer. You'll need 23 strength but that shouldn't be a problem. Also works well for that annoying Astel boss and the Ulcerated Tree Spirits. You can absolutely dismantle Plasidusax with it if you get right next to him.
Oh there will definitely be a bubble build! I haven’t tried it yet so a bubble build was on the cards before any of the normals ones 😂. Thanks for watching!
Id just like to say I really appreciate the guides you do, and that I really enjoy your presentation style. The voice over, the edits, choice of music, the occasional meme; All aces mate.
Awesome video! It clearly shows how incredibly powerful and versatile faith is. I defeated all rememberance bosses at RL7 without upgrading any weapon / seal. I mainly used rot breath, ice breath and blackflame blade with seppuku bleed estoc support for Mohg and blackflame tornado for Elden Beast. I also used spirit summons as I'm not a masochist enough to do that without summons :D
The thing I love. And the reason that I subscribed and keep coming back to your videos are when you keep in the little failures like the "jump across this gap". Makes me laugh every time and makes the video infinitely more entertaining. Top work.
This guide helped a lot. I tried the build and definitely struggled at times but was able to make it thru and beat every boss. First faith run that I have completed.
for phase 2 fire giant you could also get swarm of flies if you spam them he will get to 10% hp every time as the start is alway guaranted to be the same
@Thingfishy Your videos are, very good. Very informative, in a very nice and easy to follow format at that. So many tips and tricks in here I can use, and experiment with myself. Thank you for your time making and sharing them with the rest of us. Much appreciated.
My first blind run I did it with a build based mainly on Faith (80) and a few points here and there just to have decent stats but not too high. I started with the Wretch and ended up as a Paladin / Cleric, mostly using medium armor, halberd or scythe for close range and incantations from distance or in combo. It was tough expecially at the beginning and at the end but rewarding.
5:15 Fun fact: It CAN happen that the rats don't keep aggro on you, and you can actually port out with the rest of runes intact. Happened to me once in about 7 characters so far.
One thing you can do in Fort Faroth, is summoning the three wolves to let them get the aggro as soon as you go down to get the Radagon soreseal. Once you see the big rat going for one of your wolves, you can take the ladder up safely, saving you some early runes. I’ve been doing this quite a few times already and it’s pretty consistent really.
Your guides videos are easily my favorite. The presentation is great. The music building up at the start builds anticipation, your tip spacing and mini map are spot on. There are so many guides that are thrown together, its great to see videos where some effort has been made. 😇
If anybody is looking for the music at 10:47, it's Marvel 2 by Johannes Bornlöf Great guide btw. Beautifully structured and with just the right ammount of comedy Another thing: In my exprience, Gideon get's absolutelly wrecked by Inescapable Frenzy. You can put him on a grab loop pretty consistently and with all that faith he should't survive more than 2 grabs. And it's extra funny
So glad you enjoyed it, Kokoro! It’s really good to know there’s an alternate Gideon strat. Will keep that in mind for the next one. Thanks for watching, as always!
Black Flame is super overpowered. As soon as I got it I used it on every boss except the EB. I am not good enough at dodging to survive without summons so I used greatshield skeletons. Throwing black flame at bosses while they are surrounded by door shield skeletons is so good it feels like cheating.
@@ThomB1031 My melee guys use mimic tear, my spellcasters use mostly greatshield soldiers. I say mostly because shield soldiers are pretty useless against some bosses. On Malenia or THE ALL KNOWING mimic tear is better even for a caster. I used Mimic and Stars of Ruin to kill THE ALL. KNOWING last night then shield soldiers to distract the first elden lord while I Night Cometed him to death.
ngl amazing video you make it so if it’s a new player watching they will still get to experience most of their moving around the world themselves but easy to follow for experienced players
Something cool about all faith builds is the ability to completely be rid of your red flasks 😎 lords heal can basically heal you almost fully with high faith + erdtree seal at 40 vigor, and you can get multiple casts off per blue flask if your mind is high enough
I made a pure faith build too, 137 with 60 vig 70 faith 17 arcane using the faith physic with erd tree seal as well. With the 2 faith talismans it hits like a truck, even off hand the dragon communion seal for dragon breaths in pvp and pve, rot for pve, glrintstone breath for pvp.
6:48 DO NOT, under any circumstances, try to fight the guy for the necklace. You are completely underequipped for this. I spent an hour fighting him because of 1000 runes. He just onehits you. You get spawncamped over and over again and do no damage at all.
I really love the video. Although due to a bug after the 1.09 patch a lot of the buffs don't work on spells. For anyone struggling use the buffs for fire damage on melee or use lightning spells instead.
I was really enjoying following this guide along until the Rennala fight. I just spent about the last 14 hours straight trying to clear her and finally did with some wolf summons and spamming black flame. Took one break to go level up to get vigor to 20 which seemed to help a little. She has an uncanny ability to not take hits from catch flame for some reason, not sure if its visual lag on her hitbox moving or what. Godrick and Margit did not have this issue.
For anyone else who has trouble with her you can negate like 50% of her magic damage with Carian knight armor and magic resistance incantation. Also use physical attacks like Dragon maw and dragon claw, since she is resistance to everything except physical attacks.
The Godslayer Seal outperforms the Erdtree Seal in terms of incantation scaling all the way up to 69 Fth, after which the Erdtree Seal starts actually outperforming the Godslayer Seal.
when i fought the Elden beast i kept dying, my build was bleed based but since the beast is immune i wasn't doing shit. i eventually tried pest threads and just absolutely decimated it lol. great video!
I wish you would show us a glimpse of the map. Specially in sections where your description of the place is "these ruins" accompanied by a glimpse of your screen as you race towards it. It may help in keeping the pace of the video, but it turns sections where it should take me 3 minutes to get there into a 20 minute task of trying to find the actual spot where the Trina's Lillies are at. I'm still trying to find the specific ruins on the map.
For Malenia, use the fire spell you get from Fire Giants remembrance, Burn, oh flame. The fight becomes a joke, as Malenia can't even stand up and keeps getting knocked down.
I didn’t make a successful one of this before I got burnt out by the game. For one thing I was trying to do the dragon spells which seemed so terrible. I literally couldn’t get off a dragon breath spell without getting hit usually poise broken out of casting. Just ended of flame of redmaning everything then quit of of boredom
If you feel like trying again, this was a particularly fun run, Lex. I’m going to try a dragon only guide soon, but the long animations will be a problem I’m sure! Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming You can alleviate some of the problems with long animations by using the named dragon spells after jumping. They will keep you flying so you can avoid ground AOEs as if jumping. And if you know that an AOE is coming you have opportunities for casts. (Ongbal did that with Placidusax's Ruin on Godfrey. It gives massive style points.)
I have done a partial dragon spell run (based on NizarGG's build) and agree with this issue on breath spells. Which is why dragon claw and dragon maw are essential pick ups for field bossess especially. Dragon claw has a 2 hit true combo which stance breaks everything less tanky than a crucible knight. Dagon maw can stance break crucible knights and some smaller bosses.
You are suppose to set up the dragon spells with a faster incantantion or buff yourself enough to ignore damage. I destroyed Mallenia with OFlame into Dragon maw spam plus lightning spear for chip damage. Oflame tosses her into the air and into the ground and dragon maw can be easily casted while she is on the ground destroying her poise. You want to quick cast lightning spear if she gets away if she tries to dodge she can't attack quick enough for you to quick cast oflame into her. This guide the guy made sucks, you are suppose to mixed different attack incantations from different schools and not stick to one or two. Usually I have 4 incantations for attack the rest for buffs and healing. With black flame protection, opaline tear, golden vow and erdtree healing you can face tank Malenia's water fowl dance but if you do the oflame spam and destroy her poise she will never get a chance to do it. I don't think I ever rolled. Incantations are all about adaptability and hard countering.
Love your kill for Gideon, didnt think of the unlimited mana for that. I prefer doing inescapable frenzy though. Something about the intimate direct eye contact, and using a spell you never really get to use to destroy him is pure bliss
I thought Pest Threads had been nerfed again because I wasn't doing much damage on the EB with it. Then I rewatched the part of your video where you say "Close range" and stood right up against it as I cast. Worked like a charm.
This exactly. It works because every limb registers damage independently. So at close range the threads will hit multiple limbs and stack the damage. Long range they all converge on the same spot. Thanks for watching!
Hello Thingfishy. I'm new tothe game and followed your guide to aquire all materials and runes to stsrt a new build (miss one or two). And I am following this one now. As a newb I would love to suggest if in future guides you can just open your map to let us know where you are when you arrive at a place. Thank you very much for these amazing guides.
For placidusax if you use ancient dragon lightning strike with all basic buffs and fully charge it, it does do lots of damage like 6k every cast but it has to be fully charged for the 6k
My first souls or Elden ring experience. I’m around 20 hrs in and I’m sat here in disbelief I’ve been using this sword so hard and this dude doesn’t even have a sword or armour 😂. I have the confessor build and definitely going to build towards this build.
I liked your guide but im new to the game so i have no idea what the areas are or locations. It would help alot to show either the map or a sped up version on how to get to the location. Still was entertaining to watch!
Fun fact for Gideon you can use Frenzy burst (I call it Kano eye) from the door a couple of times and depending on your stats you can two shot him. i'm not sure if it's still a two shot since the Frenzy nerf but it should still keep you out of his range even if it isn't.
Appreciate you showing your deaths lol. Not only does it break up the pacing of the video, it also reassures me that even the experts still die to dumb things. Hard not to get frustrated when something takes lots of attempts
was doing this build, got to volcano manor and died, didnt respawn in volcano manor because no grace and no explanation of where the dark room was. Had to redo all of it
21:13 first unreasonably unavoidable roll catch 21:18 second unreasonably unavoidable roll catch They happened within literal seconds of each other too you can tell their moveset isn't balanced around each other Unavoidable damage isn't the worst thing in the world but when it's capable of happening this close together where you have no time to heal it's unacceptable Godskin duo sucks on their own they are ok though
for a easier time getting the somber ancient dragon smithing stone in mohgwyn palace, throw the dart at the same guy but go behind the altar, grab the rune then get the smithing stone, the red frog guys wont target you as fast and you wont get 1 shot by them
So right after godrick I started doing varres quest for a quick rune farm. While I was invading I thought it would be a good idea to drop a heros rune for some people. When i dropped the rune, the host, the man I was invading gave me and entire stack of lords runes. so now I'm heading to rennala with the end game version of this build I'll tell you all how it went down after her.
great guide. i wouldnt suggest killing gostic though as if youre doing the kenneth haight and nephelli loux quest at the end he will let you buy an ancient dragon smithing stone at the end.
You do realize there is a somber 3 and 4 right closeby Iji. The 3 to the east at the bottom of the bellum highway site of grace's cliff. And the 4 to the north west of that around the cliff like almost next to the site of grace for the canyon. S5 you can get in raya lucaria on a balcony on your way to Azur's staff...literally a straight speedrun from the debate parlor across the rooftops
I found it was easier to run onto the Dragonbarrow night's cavalry bridge and jump up onto the siderail, then drop onto the ledge. I died every time I tried to jump the gap.
I change my approach to this cheese all the time. After many different iterations, this is the one that’s most consistent for me. But even now, sometimes I’ll fail it 5 times. Always open to new strats though. Thanks for watching!

Just a couple of er points...fuck that jump onto the bridge to make the horse knight bomb out. Also said knight only spawns at night, and is more then likely to headbutt you off your precarious ledge then jump himself. Fun times.

Your guides videos are easily my favorite. The presentation is great. The music building up at the start builds anticipation, your tip spacing and mini map are spot on. There are so many guides that are thrown together, its great to see videos where some effort has been made. 😇
If anybody is looking for the music at 10:47, it's Marvel 2 by Johannes Bornlöf
Great guide btw. Beautifully structured and with just the right ammount of comedy
Another thing: In my exprience, Gideon get's absolutelly wrecked by Inescapable Frenzy.
I have to upgrade mine. Handy at +1 for some bosses though. I can only imagine at +10. I only have mimic tear at +7 so far.
I feel like catch flame is faith version of carina slicer. Slightly worse, but it’s still very good
Something cool about all faith builds is the ability to completely be rid of your red flasks 😎 lords heal can basically heal you almost fully with high faith + erdtree seal at 40 vigor, and you can get multiple casts off per blue flask if your mind is high enough
I seriously love watching your experimenting play throughs.
6:48 DO NOT, under any circumstances, try to fight the guy for the necklace. You are completely underequipped for this. I spent an hour fighting him because of 1000 runes. He just onehits you. You get spawncamped over and over again and do no damage at all.
Ohhhhhh yeaaaaa im guna try this! looks nuts, ive already done the spikey bonk and spellblade build had uber fun with those. Awesome builds mr :D
Thanks for watching, Mell!
Look at his character, looks like Dr. Strange. So awesome!
Sliders for it are in the description. Thanks for watching, Matt!
@@ThingfishyGaming ty much take a sub
My son and I had a fun hour making our own Dr Strange character from the slider. Such great art work.
Idk why you don’t have more subs, watched a few vids, instant sub from me, keep going amazing content
I absolutely loved the two build videos you made!! Are you planning on making videoa for hybrid builds as well? Like a strength - faith build?
Definitely, Rashin. STR/Faith, DEX/INT, STR/INT and DEX/Faith are all in the works! Thanks for watching!
7:34 so here, instead of running and dropping down, you can run right across the rooftops and jump right down in front of the door
Great walkthrough, easy to follow! One thing is the Faith Knot Crystal tear is southeast of the Church of Pilgramage, not southwest.
Love these guide videos ❤ they are a really fun watch.. watched all 3.
So glad you’re enjoying them, B! Thanks for watching!
i was wondering about this idea
awesome video
I liked your guide but im new to the game so i have no idea what the areas are or locations. It would help alot to show either the map or a sped up version on how to get to the location. Still was entertaining to watch!
Love the video! Used this for my caster run! Just quick side not, Giant Seal doesn't actually buff catch flame.
Awesome build and video!! I am doing a similar build but with arcane and dragon breath seal.
Thanks, Matt! Glad you enjoyed it. I really can’t wait to do a full dragon build! Thanks for watching!
Fun fact for Gideon you can use Frenzy burst (I call it Kano eye) from the door a couple of times and depending on your stats you can two shot him. i'm not sure if it's still a two shot since the Frenzy nerf but it should still keep you out of his range even if it isn't.
Love this. Will keep it in mind for the next one. Thanks for watching!
This is very helpful. im doing a dr strange build sk this came in handy a lot
The key to godskin duo is to not attack the noble or really just not get him to phase 2, it makes the fight much easier
I was playing NG+ with INT/FAITH knight and the Ancient LS spam served me really well at Godskin duo fight. I didn’t even need the sleep pots
That godskin duo strategy is gold!
Man, 4 months later, but this was a fire video. Get it? Fiiiiiiiiire!?
Appreciate you showing your deaths lol. Not only does it break up the pacing of the video, it also reassures me that even the experts still die to dumb things. Hard not to get frustrated when something takes lots of attempts
Wow when you said guide you meant GUIDE. I can’t believe you showed every step, very well done
was doing this build, got to volcano manor and died, didnt respawn in volcano manor because no grace and no explanation of where the dark room was. Had to redo all of it
21:13 first unreasonably unavoidable roll catch
21:18 second unreasonably unavoidable roll catch
They happened within literal seconds of each other too you can tell their moveset isn't balanced around each other
Unavoidable damage isn't the worst thing in the world but when it's capable of happening this close together where you have no time to heal it's unacceptable
Godskin duo sucks on their own they are ok though
Great work my friend! Even better than I imagined it would be!
Thanks for being there while I made it, Cornthdl. Glad you enjoyed it!
What does "go through the darkness" mean at volcano manor? I've been following along pretty well up till then
If you find out let me know I’m confused too
ruclips.net/video/evf1Ssu-y-U/видео.html But you need to go down stairs
Pretty chill video
I love your narration throughout the video
Thanks so much for watching, Alias! Really glad you enjoyed it!
The guy in the thumbnail looks like Dr. Strange living in the woods
your a good build maker but i swear trying to follow the guide is just as hard as a math exam lol
Bro says "parry him" like I can parry shit
for a easier time getting the somber ancient dragon smithing stone in mohgwyn palace, throw the dart at the same guy but go behind the altar, grab the rune then get the smithing stone, the red frog guys wont target you as fast and you wont get 1 shot by them
Very cool vid, just saying might wanna turn your saturation a tiiiny bit down, your reds seem a bit harsh sometimes
You have amazing videos man! Any chance for us to see an OP dex build?
Perfect for me, i can never decide between fire or lightning
Informative video with good humour, just the way I like it :D
So right after godrick I started doing varres quest for a quick rune farm. While I was invading I thought it would be a good idea to drop a heros rune for some people. When i dropped the rune, the host, the man I was invading gave me and entire stack of lords runes. so now I'm heading to rennala with the end game version of this build I'll tell you all how it went down after her.
Excellent! Very well done video is amazing
Thanks, Yxng. Glad you enjoyed it!
great guide. i wouldnt suggest killing gostic though as if youre doing the kenneth haight and nephelli loux quest at the end he will let you buy an ancient dragon smithing stone at the end.
Dang I wish I knew this
@@bustamante-music ya i was trying to find every ancient smithing stone and found out about it later. so now i keep him alive on playthroughs lol
Are dragon communion spells viable in late game with high faith and low arcane?
This build really takes you to the most cursed areas of the game.
@1:07 Benedict Cumberbatch. 👌
Thanks for watching!
NO summons no farming, but lets farm things for the first 10 min xD
Trying to get the nights Calvary to jump off the bridge is hurting my soul
the character face looks exactly like doctor strange good work
They did an awesome job on it! Link in the description! Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming One time yesterday the cavalry jumped over the rail and got stuck on that ledge. It just sat there galloping and wouldn't fall off. Eventually it killed me and I started over.
This guy jumped off and spawned back on the bridge 🧐😅
@@suppensalat2503 My last couple of runs I've led him to the end of the bridge and jumped back on from the side. He sometimes just leaps to his death and it's safer than letting him get close.
@@WUZLE i did the old cheese and its still working but takes some jumping over and over xD
Hey man, love the vids. Making a similar build rn and came back to use this as a guide. As for the poll you made, I think just a basic build guide video would do incredible things for your channel and also save you time editing in the future! Just a thought tho!
I just built one of these before watching this video in preparation for any upcoming DLC, just so I have a PC to run that's not grossly over level. I just ride Giantsflame Take Thee, avoid SoF, and play melee. Other than that, mine is basically the same and tons of fun.
and here goes the hope for character silder lol he look good
Sliders link is in the description! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! I really enjoyed it ❤ do you think you could do a bleed arc/Dex build?
So glad you liked it Koshi. I’ve actually filmed and already editing a bleed dex build! Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming I’ll be there to watch! And new sub!
Hope you like it! Thanks for the sub and thanks again for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming if you try strength/arcane try the Great Hammer or the Brick Hammer! B/B and B/A!
Holy moly , awesome guide mate! Btw what’s the song starting at 26:13 ?
Glad you enjoyed it, Scurvy! Its a song called Eyes of Yours by Edgar Hopp. Beautiful, isn’t it? I use a ton of his music and can’t get enough of it. Thanks for watching!
@@ThingfishyGaming it’s beautiful! Along with that faith build of course! Thank you 🙏 keep up the good work mate! 😁
Thanks, mate. Thanks again for watching!
nice work man
Is it really worth going for Erdtree seal that early? I usually find the scaling on it sucks until way higher faith (60+)
It VERY possible that using it that early isn’t the most optimal approach, however grabbing it means you only have to acquire upgrades for 1 weapon. And as you can see, it monsters all the bosses anyway, so no real reason not to. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos dude. I have been scouring RUclips for a build that combines black flame and ancient lightning spells. Please PLEASE please. Make this
i cant find the darkness in volcano manor
Any else so how much his character looks like doctor strange?
Just a couple of er points...fuck that jump onto the bridge to make the horse knight bomb out. Also said knight only spawns at night, and is more then likely to headbutt you off your precarious ledge then jump himself. Fun times.
It took a few tries for me, he can easily just hit you through the wall
Can you make a text list of your stats at Elden Beast, and each talisman and buff equipped? I want to imitate your crazy Catch Flame damage on O'Neill, but I can't keep track of what all you had on you at that time
nice guitar collection! id love to see some guitar related content!
