He and his brother (the guy on the guitars ;-) ) founded this band back in the 80ies and kinda pioneered finnish heavy metal. They released several albums since then and are considered cult in Finland, but unfortunatly never made it big outside of their country. Marco was then asked to join Nightwish and debuted on 2002's "Century Child" and became popular to a wide audience, but he never left Tarot and now handles both bands (and a lot more stuff) at the same time. He must be a busy fella :-D
And not forgetting Marco being in the supergroup that was Sinergy with Roope from Stone, Alexi from Bodom, Tonmi from To Die For and Kimberly Goss from Dimmu/Ancient/Therion.
I think their lyrics being in broken english would have prevented international success back when this game out. "staring the storm into the eye" is such an awesome lyric in such broken english lol
Tarot and Marco Hietala are one of the originators and fathers of Finnish Heavy Metal music and they are still after 25 years going strong and their Music is eternal. I wish Marco finds a way to continue to make more music solo or with Tarot, because his singing talent and voice are truly unique and empowering. Take all the time you need first to rest you "Finish Viking", you'll stand with the Gods in Valhalla one day because of your huge accomplishments you have performed, you can be sure of that!

I was so sad to hear he was leaving Nightwish, but luckily he has so much skill and talent that it cannot be contained and he is back! Northern Kings toured this Summer and he has been doing this and that all over. Thank goodness! It would have been a great loss to Metal if he wasn’t able to keep making music. Obviously his health and happiness come first, but I am very selfish lol
Marco is such a great frontman... I remeber seeing Nightwish live a few years back (it was in Tel Aviv, first international show with Anette Olzon) and he totally stole the show...

Absolutely killer guitar solo. Isn't only complicated or flashy..but has several, very different parts..and it fits and serves the song perfectly. Perfection, imo. Far too often, guys try to either be too flashy with too many notes...or they stay too close to the vocal melody of the song. Not this solo. All of the parts and techniques fit together to serve the song perfectly. I salute this player.

Tarot are back! I don't know the details...other than that they are rehearsing for some shows. Hopefully they tour in NA and record some new material. They have Antero Seppänen of Turmion Kätilöt playing drums. I got this info from Zackary Hietala's youtube channel.
I love the sound of it re-recorded. It sounds newer. With Toni's vocals, it sounds more unique. And it seems like Marco put a lot more power and personality into it. LOVE IT!

The mics they use is really unusual, but kind of cool, at the same time :P Shure B52 is best used on kicks or bass amps, and the keyboardist is singing into some sort of boom mic usually seen on movie sets (though it's perfectly fine for recording human voice)

@Goblin51892 Tommi Salmela is a kind of keyboardist but not necessarily. He was a rodie of Tarot but the band made him a permanent member and now his role in Tarot is lead vocals (alongside Marco) and playing sampler. Then it's not necessarily a second keyboard.
