When this wonderful song came out in 1983 i was 30 loved it now seeing this with Mike and Miriam as i have over the years it was long overdue i made a comment at 69 i am still swaying to this song thankyou thankyou
I keep coming back to this clip month after month and year after year..... so good. Nothing not to like like. Everyone gives a fab performance.... gotta say i especially like the drumming.
Mine too. Tubullar Bells has been a comfort/all time favourite ice I hears a short example of what ended up as Tubullar Bells on the student radio in London late summer 1972. Nobody of my friend in Norway liked Mike Oldfield when I bought the first version of Tubullar Bells - now its to much used in advertising. Hate that! My personal favourite: The different versions of Pran´s Theme - the capture the entire content in one of the best films ever: Killing Fields. You have to watch this - an important movie and Mike Oldfield at his best.
I love the atmosphere of this video... It's not a performance, but more of a celebration. I would love it if this were stuck in my head for the next 3 weeks
This song remembers me at my husband, died 10 years ago with only 48 years. Years before I heard this song live in Bremen, I don`t know, that some years later it would be reality:))) That´s life!
Those of us who are Vocaloid fans (and in some instances users!) will be additionally pleased that this is 'our' Miriam making a very good job - especially in a live concert situation - of an established Mike Oldfield song. It's not easy to follow a long-established version of a classic and earn respect for what you do, but Miriam certainly earned it here!
Mike Oldfield is like the pinnacle of "pop orchestration", but this song is so emotional and none of that comes through. Miriam Stockley tries to get the audience moving, but this is a song that requires emotion from the start. Look at the video to "Shadow on the Wall", and you'll know what I mean. The reason this song was so good in the first place was the production of the "Crises" album as a whole (IMO).
This is a great song no matter who performs it. I like every version I've ever heard including the instrumental by The Shadows. Nolwenn Leroy's live performance is my favorite for many reasons.
IN my opinion, this i one of the best song have ever composed ... I think tht was composed in 1983 when I was 3 years old so it has been next to my heart since that time ...
Uff, los pelos como escarpias. Me encanta esta canción y ya con orquesta y este directo, para caerse el alma de gozo ¡Cómo me hubiese gustado estar allí!
Am I the only one who prefers this version to the original? I don't know Miriam Stockley, but she is magnificent. With all respect to the original version, this version just on another level for me.
Altho imo this is Maggie Reillys song, this version is fantastic. I think it is a classic case of a brilliant song which is greater than any performer......whoever sings it. Mike must be given credit for that, after writing it he clearly decides who will perform it....all versions being Top class.
played in Antwerp Sportpaleis, which is a very difficult venue as it is was not built originally for music concerts. so to take the venue, a bit of overkill is needed indeed
This reminds me a bit of Joe Cockers concerts late in his career. Fantastic background vocals and intense guitar work. Speaking of guitar, I'm no expert but I know really good when hear it. Perfect. That guitar was really talking to me. If it was any better it would annihilate you. Thank You.
Indeed, exemplary in fact. And that female vocalist delivers it perfectly. And she is so attractive and also so very horny - She could do things for me - slap my thighs under a moonlight shadow and tell me I'm naughty, I love it....
Heard this song on the radio yesterday; the first time I had heard it in years - man, did it take me back to '83 when music was music . . . beautiful song!!
I love this version of the solo so much!! :D At 3:15 Mike look is like "Fuck You this is my Solo!" at 3:18 The other Guitarist is like "I know but I don't care" hahaha !! :D
This kicks ass and Miriam is my favorite, but nothing beats their Art In Heaven Live in Berlin performance!! Sucks RUclips kicked it off!!! Always thought Miriam had a little young Stevie Nicks sound to her voice and Mikes tone is very Lindsey Buckinghamish! Would love to hear Fleetwood Mac perform this!!!!!
gremmiehodad Don't get me wrong, I love orchestration added to most anything! But, it's over powering Miriam's vocals! Plus, I think because of all the pomp and circumstance Mike is a little stiff on this performance! Checkout the Art in Heaven Berlin performance on Daily Motion and then tell me I'm wrong!
Great song, it's a classic, and a great set up on this one! The original with Maggie Rieley is a classic video and performance, but how can you shot someone 6 time with a flintlock gun? They take forever to reload, you'd die of boredom before the third shot was fired!
it was inspired by the author watching a t.v. program about contacting the spirit of Houdini (who was a famous spiritualist unmasker, although his BFF Conan Doyle, the Sherlock Holmes author) was a true believer. As Oldfield put it :"it was originally inspired by a film I loved - Houdini, starring Tony Curtis, which was about attempts to contact Houdini after he'd died, through spiritualism... it was originally a song influenced by that, but a lot of other things must have crept in there without me realizing it.". Specifically the assassination of John Lennon. Many People think there are direct references to Lennon's murder.
the song and the video are related only by artistic licence. the video producer went for the "duel at dawn" while the song relates a more modern shooting death.
Still awesome in 2024 !!
My favorite rendition of this song.
When this wonderful song came out in 1983 i was 30 loved it now seeing this with Mike and Miriam as i have over the years it was long overdue i made a comment at 69 i am still swaying to this song thankyou thankyou
One of the best songs ever written!
mike oldfield is one of the most gifted songwriters ever ❤️
yeah, ONE whole time
All that is left is MUSIC!!! No compromises, no jazz, no distortion of the melody......the honest truth!! Wonderful Miriam!!!
Great Oldfield!!
If this hasn't happened recently then it's time for Oldfield and Reilly to reunite and perform Moonlight Shadow.
The way he use the chords in the solo with arpeggios playing melody at the same time is absolutly awesome as a guitarist I apreciate it ❤😊
😊
😊
😊
Sends chills down my spine. So beautifully sung, its magical
Mike Oldfield's "Crisis" and "Discovery" - Two of my favorite albums of all time.
This is the most perfect song of all times. It is good in all rhythms, all voices, all covers.
Why is this children's song-sounding 80's pop song so rockin? You go Miriam Stockley, nailing it.
music simply doesn't get any better than this !
Мариам просто волшебница!)))))

wow... takes me right back to the first time I heard this..... 1983? So many years ago now.... Mike Oldfield has been the soundtrack to my life......
Mine too. Tubullar Bells has been a comfort/all time favourite ice I hears a short example of what ended up as Tubullar Bells on the student radio in London late summer 1972. 10 years later and still the best song!
This is one of the best versions of this song

This brings back unforgettable memories. RIP my dear fried Syrah
This is absolutely wonderful
Totally agree,brilliant performance.
I love the mix of Classical musicians and Rock Musicians. It works. good vocals too. 10 out of 10.
Mike Oldfield. Tremendo musico. Con solo pensar que en Tubular Bells tocó 23 instrumentos musicales habla por si sólo. Impresionante
IN my opinion, this i one of the best song have ever composed ... I think tht was composed in 1983 when I was 3 years old so it has been next to my heart since that time ...

Forever a classic….
A beautiful girl with a fabulous voice singing a classic song to a large live audience. Nothing wrong with a bit of theater !
Ditto
played in Antwerp Sportpaleis, which is a very difficult venue as it is was not built originally for music concerts. so to take the venue, a bit of overkill is needed indeed

Maybe your choice will be different if you’ve heard the original version from The Shadows; I think you may like it.
This reminds me a bit of Joe Cockers concerts late in his career. Fantastic background vocals and intense guitar work. Speaking of guitar, I'm no expert but I know really good when hear it.

+phil hobgoblin, are you kidding? :)
Ich wünschte es würde nur solche Musik wie damals im Radio usw laufen
Miriam Stockley has a wonderful voice and she makes this song her own.
Miriam rushes it, and has little variation in intonation, especially compared to Maggie.
Mike Oldfield - the legend ❤
Magnifique !!!!!!!!!!
Mike Oldfield is no 1
Я узнал о Майке из книги Ричарда Брэнсона
!! 👏🏻🌹 Excelente tema , como la voz que la canta ..excelente ..👏🏻❤🌹🍀
I love you Mike, and this song
This kicks ass and Miriam is my favorite, but nothing beats their Art In Heaven Live in Berlin performance!! Sucks RUclips kicked it off!!! Always thought Miriam had a little young Stevie Nicks sound to her voice and Mikes tone is very Lindsey Buckinghamish! Would love to hear Fleetwood Mac perform this!!!!!
I agree. I for he video and I think it's the best performance of Mike I ever seen, bit many pieces are not on Internet or RUclips.
gremmiehodad Also miss incredibly talented bass player babe Carrie Melbourne!
gremmiehodad Don't get me wrong, I love orchestration added to most anything! But, it's over powering Miriam's vocals! Plus, I think because of all the pomp and circumstance Mike is a little stiff on this performance! Checkout the Art in Heaven Berlin performance on Daily Motion and then tell me I'm wrong!
Goosebumps.
Wonderful concert, it is greats..
Gosh thats a good song!!!
she is lovely!
Beautiful!!!!!!
I really love this song glad to heard this again....
I could listen it again and again! Just amazing!
Thank you so much
2022❤️🇭🇺
Great song, it's a classic, and a great set up on this one! The original with Maggie Rieley is a classic video and performance, but how can you shot someone 6 time with a flintlock gun? They take forever to reload, you'd die of boredom before the third shot was fired!
The song doesn't mention any type of weapon. Maybe 6 times of auto rifle were fired. Anyway, it is a song it is unnessesary to go much in detail.
Shot 6 times by a man on the run.
Maybe the ahthor just wants the lyric fits the tune of rythm, the lyric itsself doesn't means much? i guess!
it was inspired by the author watching a t.v. program about contacting the spirit of Houdini (who was a famous spiritualist unmasker, although his BFF Conan Doyle, the Sherlock Holmes author) was a true believer. My good friends... Trevor Murrell on drums and his wife Hille Bemelmans, the girl in the middle doing backing vocals. I love it!
