That was the fastest Undertaker entrance ever.
right! even when he was on the motorcycle.
So all these years sand it took bad pyrotechnics for him to walk fast? Glad he was okay.
@@RoyaltyMAD I didn't watched it. Did Taker jog-walked to the ring? It would've been weird.
Exactly
Also his Royal Rumble 2007 entrance.
Despite the burns, he still fought through the pain and put on a good match. Undertaker will always be a legend.
He fought so hard to entertain us/the fans no matter how hurt or exhausted he was in those 30 years of his career, also staying in character through it all, that’s one of the reasons he’s considered the greatest wwe wrestler of all time.
The next night when he was wearing the other jacket he originally was gonna wear, you could see the burns on his face.
Absolute unit
If Undertaker tells you the Pyro is not positioned right, you don't correct him. You follow what he says. Glad he got fired even before the match ended
if you dont know wtf you're doing in your job, then yeah...
Whoever he is, he should feel lucky he only got fired figuratively and not literally like he did to the undertaker.
He is the one that is in danger of being burned, so if he says something isn't right, you change it.
You dorks don't know how different industries and departments within those places work lol. If an electrician listens to some old timer when he's wiring up a panel box, he has all the liability on him.
@@jarlwhiterun7478. You’re right, BUT what would it have harmed to move them apart a bit? It would have made Taker more comfortable and most likely saved that dude his cool job with WWE.
WWE was so addictive when I was kid, now im addicted to hearing the stories of wrestlers behind the scenes
And the pyro guy was never seen or heard from again.
he buried him in cement 💯
He fed him to Kane who took care of him
Good. Dude should honestly be in jail, if what Undertaker is relaying is correct. ‘Oh it’s just a draft’. Then is told to knock it off and fix it, and possibly moves them even closer.
As bad as this was for Undertaker, he literally could have spent the rest of his life a horrific burn victim, or had his career ended right there. There’s a very close possible reality where we talk about this in the same way as wrestling’s biggest tragedies.
Rest in peace pyro guy
Teddy didn't even get the chance to call the Undertaker
Respect to Taker for doing business
Taker was nice enough to give the guy a warning to not be backstage when he was through with the match. I don’t know if other wrestlers would’ve been as nice
CM Punk and Chris Jericho for sure would have asked for the guy to remain backstage and then dealt with him as soon as they got back
That pyro guy relocated to Antarctica the next day
Correction, the next hour 😂
More like to AEW.
Praise God for protecting this man.
This wasn't even the first time Taker had problems with the pyro guy in 98 his face almost got burnt off when he was lifting his arms at the corner post like he always does some jackass set off Kane's pyro if he'd been standing closer that would have been ugly Taker really is a badass working that Chamber match can't imagine the pain he was in the things they put themselves through for our entertainment nothing but respect for these warriors.
I envisioned The Undertaker as Hank Hill, when telling the pyro guy, "these pyro balls are too damn close!"
I remember that PPV! What’s even crazier is he showed up for RAW the next night and you can see his wounds. I was shocked.
I was at that event with my son. I remember telling him "I don't think that was supposed to happen."
I couldn't believe he continued on with the match
“Dad, what happened to the pyro guy?”
You: “We’ll discuss that when you’re a bit older”. 😂
The fact that this guy got burnt by his own pyro, still made it to the ring, competed in the elimination chamber seconds later after that incident, and appeared on Raw the next night all in the span of 24 hours? With or without that gimmick that came with the nickname, he truly is an American Badass
Bro if the performer feels unsafe about where the pyro is positioned you fucking adjust it. Simple rule, safety trumps everything.
Truth. It’s not like he’s asking you for the keys to your house.
Woahh no reason to get political.
According to legend, Vince fired the pyro guy before the match even ended yet also advised him to get out of town, knowing Undertaker would have killed him if he didn't leave.
It's almost like the pyro guy said to himself "Ohh you have an issue with the placement? Now you're really going to have a problem". Seems like it was maybe done on purpose
After that match taker was like it’s on sight 😡🤬👊🤜🤛🦵
Oh wow is this the same match where Shawn snuck into the chamber, didnt realise. Carried on and executed a huge angle despite the omnishambles happening
After hearing this, it just makes the pyro guy look so much worse. Taker tells him the fire is too close, so the guy moves them in even closer? That guy is either an idiot or a total psycho.
Either way, I hope that guy never worked pyro again.
He actually got fired even before the match ended
The last thing you want to do is to make The Undertaker mad. I hoped he got punished.
The pyro guy got fired right after the match & was never seen since
@@enriquedeltoro227 makes sense.
He was lucky that the Undertaker didn't see him that night after the match they probably were worried for the pyro guy's safety because he would have seriously hurt the pyro guy and you wouldn't want to be him after what he did to Taker.😳 They decided to fire him before Undertaker showed up, and everyone vanished when you see a mad Undertaker walking by.
@DarkGaming-2734 its like a unwritten rule in WWE ..don't f with Mark
When you're a 6ft7, pissed off undertaker, you bet your ass it's a ghost town backstage 😂😅
I watched the PPV & didn't knew this happened after a few years that it happened but I was 12 years old and just loved him how the undertaker looked in that moment & commentary he looked so badass, but then knowing the story it is 50 times more badass xD
What would be the worst that can happen if the pyro guy you know, just moved those 2 pyro stands like Taker asked?
He'd have his feelings hurt because someone else was making him feel like he doesn't know how to do his job.
@@adamg2031if I was the pyro guy, I would hope I’d be professional to say “screw my feelings, the guy feels unsafe. So let’s change things.” Taker could have been hurt a lot worse than he did, possibly killed. I wouldn’t want that on my conscience.
I don’t see anything bad that could happen if the closer flames were taken out. That pyro guy just had a huge ego and thought he’d could do no wrong. But if the longest tenured and by far most respected wrestler in the company says something along the lines of “this doesn’t feel safe” then you should fix any problems.
I remember watching that live on PPV. That was an amazing night.
I remember being there
Me too it was something else, poor taker…
Never forget this I was 10 at elimination chamber in the 4th row in Saint Louis and the whole time they were handing taker cold bottles of water and everyone in the crowd knew something was up. The fact that he wrestled that whole entire match and you see how beat red his chest was. Undertaker is by far the toughest dude in wwe
I wonder what's more crazy undertaker wrestling when he was all burned up or Triple H wrestling when his throat was crushed to death
And the ironing is they both happen in elimination chamber matches
Mortifying story. It really pisses me off when someone puts someone else in harm's way, especially by being obstinate.
Vince McMahon: PYRO GUY! YOU’RE FIRED! Oh. And you should probably leave before Taker gets back.
Watching the clips, but then going back to watch the full interview haha
I think I saw the PPV itself and I saw the way Taker was walking fast and I was thinking "goddamn I never seen him walk that fast". Thankfully we have insight as to why that was. I never knew he got burned. F*ck the pyro guy for not listening to Kevin Dunn and for almost burning Taker alive.
Gut it Chug it Singe it 💪🥃🔥
If wasnt for the heavy jacket to withstand the fire that night would have an absolute disaster
And the water he put over himself
I had to go back to the PPV on the network to see the moment. Brutal. That setup was horrendous. Props to commentary for selling it and making it look like Taker was ready to fight.
Taker gave the expression"To be on fire"a new meaning that night...
Even after begin set on fire, Taker went on with the match and gave a really good performance in the chamber. It was the last time he held and world title so good call to have it be visible on his body and good call apparently as it stopped the burns from being worse.
Seeing him sit with his arms crossed like a regular guy...glad he reached that point in his career, but I'm still not used to it.
Hell of a man.
It's good to see the real mark Callaway after all the years of keeping the legend of the undertaker
I was at this show in St. Louis. It was one of the craziest things I’d seen, and we still didn’t know how bad it was because of how quick Taker shook it off, and how much he no sold it after for nearly an hour long match. It wasn’t until later that we realized how bad it could have been and that it would become a legendary moment, despite being a botch.
Wouldnt mind hearing his thoughts on the time Kanes pyro come up during Takers entrance in 1998.
I really wish to hear the other guy side of the story. Ofcoz he was wrong but hear what really transpired from his side and what was his crew and everyone thinking. I think this happened long time ago and we’ve made peace with it.
Survived a disaster.
The pyro guy was the love child of Goldberg and Chris Benoit
Not much can make me show visible fear and panic, but if I just got torched with a pyro blast and I’m on fire? I’d have been stop drop and rolling all over stage 😝
Best rivalry ever told . Taker vs pyro engineer 🔥
plot twist: kane was the pyro guy
4:03 yooo 😂😂😂
Quickest inferno match ever
He went through all that pain to drop the belt to Jericho. Only for Jericho to be who he is today. ; _ ;
Usually Jericho calls someone a jackass. It's funny hearing Taker say it lol.
I remembered seeing him walking down slowly then they showed one of the wrestlers in the pods. Then the camera went back to him and he was walking down to the chamber quickly. I thought he was just eager to get his hands on one of his rivals. But discovering long years later one of those fireball pyro became malfunction and he got seriously hurt by it so they added that out.
Can you even imagine the pain?
I remember reading that when he talked to Vince he said something like he just wants to know the pyro guy was fired lmao
The Walls of Jericho with burns on your chest. Good Lord
The pyro guy was Kane 😂☺️ he wanna burn his brother like he got burnt 😉😉
if Unsertaker had gotten hold of the pyro guy....the pyro guy's family and friends would have been attending his funeral.............that excuse the guy gave "oh it's the wind" was stupid. then instead of moving them apart as told he moved them closer......not sure if the pyro guy left on his own or someone back stage told him to leave it saved his life leaveing the building............Undertaker also mentioned he Told Vince I wanted no sorrys or excuses.... but fire that guy I see him again I'll kill him......and Vince knew he told the truth. Undertaker and Andre were 2 wrestlers Vince did not mess with when they were mad.
The pyro guy was a “dead man walking”
Undertaker was almost overcooked
We need to find this pyro guy!!
I was there that night. Was definitely crazy!
If the Undertaker wanted to kill me, I would run for the f***ing hills, change my identity to BobPants SpongeSquare and move to the middle of nowhere in Australia.
I thought the undertaker was from hell. It shouldn’t have bothered him 😂
They went extremely high also
Would be 100x better if u added the clip if possible
Man I’d be pissed too
Your fans were scared, too. My Mom {who was a RN for 50+ years} was watching that with me. She told me stories of how, in training, she had to work in the burn unit. She said it was the worst place to be. When we were watching, we both looked at each other and said that entrance was screwed up. Best Wrestler Ever. Having watched him before WWF/WWE when he was Mean Mark Callas, he was one of the reasons I started watching wrestling.
Yeah, that pyro guy deserved to be fired, no pun intended. Not only did he not listen, but did the exact opposite of what he was told to do.
Wow.
I wonder if Taker and James Hetfield have ever met
They should've just listened to the Undertaker in the first place. Nearly killed the man
The Pyro guy actually wanted to turn undertaker into Kane that night. Those who know....Will know. Oooohhhh yyyyeeeeeeaaahhsssss
I’ve always wanted to hear what the pyro guy has to say for himself
That guy deserves to be fired, so glad Taker didn't got the worst of it
If you watch Taker vs Shawn Promo After this you can see the medication all over undertakers face. Bro is damn near orange.
I bet that man ran 🏃♀️ out of that arena quicker then Usain bolt 😂😂😂plus I can imagine everyone backstage when they heard taker I'm going to kill him they all ran with him 😂😂😂 soon as taker was set on fire it was at that Very moment HE KNEW HED F****d up 😂😂😂😂
Look no one is going to complain that he broke character when being set on fire. Like he could have been rolling on the ground after and no one would have complained.
"I think there's a draft in the building..."
Hey how about accepting criticism, instead of looking for excuses?? I hope that man never worked in pyrotechnics or effects ever again after that stunt. His stupidity almost lead to a man dying on camera.
Draft in the building?
Undertaker was lucky there wasn't a light breeze.
Ha.
Does being drenched in water help, or make it worse?
Helps a lot. Try to burn a dry cloth and try it with a wet one, same principle can be applied with all due proportion
I wonder where that guy is actually at or that guy is?
the pyro guy fired himself then jumped into his own grave before anyone else had the chance to do so.
Taker - Set on fire and still continued the match.
Austin - Returned ONE day after damn near breaking his neck.
Foley - Continued Hell in A Cell with Taker despite 2 NASTY falls and god knows what else.
3 badass legends!
HHH - Finish the match 3 different instance where one with his torn quad twice and another with broken throat.
Those 4 guys can never be replaced
Don't forget the orbital floor injury that Taker had, but kept fighting. He's lucky he didn't lose his eye.
Also, Foley lost a tooth. That tooth went through his nose, and was in there for the remainder of the flight. He jokes that it looked like a booger.
Then Sin Cara chipped a nail and demanded the match be finished.
And people are surprised he didn't have any staying power.
To be honest wrestling is a tough guy's business. You're not tough or don't respect that you have to be tough, it isn't the business for you.
@@JeremiahEcks777 Oh god I remember watching that. The match was lackluster and when he just show his finger to the ref, you can see clearly even the ref flabbergasted that he want to end the match right then for such a thing. Not even trying to make a work to end the match quicker.
Taker: These explosions are too close back them up.
Pyro guy: Make them closer? no problem boss.
I just realised that it was indeed the last time Taker had any championship
His seventh and final world title reign in 2010, right before retiring Shawn at Wrestlemania 26. That was also the last year for them both and Triple H as full-time wrestlers on the roster.
Well he stopped wrestling full time around 2011. I guess he didnt want to win another world title and hardly be around.
Thats crazy
I thought the last time he held the title was when he dropped it to Kane and failed to get the title back from him like 4 times in a row? I know that happened later since this loss to Jericho was in 2009 right?
@@zeospark9715 Actually when Undertaker lost it to Jericho at Elimination Chamber 2010 he never won another world title. In the rivalry with Kane later in 2010, Kane was the World Champion for that whole run, their '10 matches were at Night of Champions, Hell in a Cell, and Bragging Rights.
I noticed Undertaker is saying less "you know" while speaking now, hes getting better at this podcasting
😂😂😂😂
the man is dead, cut him some slack.
@@yeliabdoowyllohx😂
HBK says "You know" way more than anyone. Even still.
@@GABRIELA-ACEVEDO. He used to love saying "and I got news for ya" all the time. 😅
"Chris, can you do a code breaker? My chest is messed up, man."
Chris, "Walls it is!"
Yes, because slamming a burnt chest into two bony-ass knees is so much better than laying down chest-first and allowing Jericho to apply the Walls.
@@ForeverDegeneratebuddy Taker even says it was excruciating to take the walls, code breaker would've been quick and easy
@@ForeverDegenerateit actually is
I don't support backstage violence, as it's unprofessional. But that night. if some guy ended up RIP`ed. Im not justifying anything, but let's just say i would have understood.
I mean he almost burn him to death he just warned the guy to move the pyro but he didn't listen of course he deserve to get a big receipt
@@kratosgow342imagine it was actually a shoot from the pyro guy 😂
I think it was justified.
glad he turned out ok but To bad this happaned on his last entrance as world heavyweight champion
After that happened, I liked how he took that trench coat off like a boss.
So true!!!! But I think it was more so “took it off like a pissed off Texan”
@@jimmyjohnson3149 OH yeah, the Don't mess with Texas vibes.
Sure a draft in the building.🤣🤣🤣yeah that will cause a pryo malfunction. Right.
June 2024...The Pyro Guy is still missing
I’m pretty sure he got………
FIRED!!! 😂😅
(i’ll let myself out)
He's at AEW.
🤣🤣
Kane ain't right for hiring him.
The pyro guy was working for Kane. LOL
All those years of plotting, all those years of planning, all those years of waiting, all those years of watching in the shadows were finally at an end
I always though it was just a honest mistake by the Pyro guy and maybe firing him was a bit of an overreaction, but hearing the lead in to the event that guy 100% deserved to be fired for his negligence
Fired ?? That piro guy should've been charged if he wasn't !
I hope he writes a book about his life and career i would definitely buy that book
Dead Men do tell tales
@@DropkickMurphysFan01 agreed
Having the undertaker being legit furious at you and ready to kill you cause you caught him on fire gotta be the scariest thing ever tbh
I Think people here do no realize what a legit BAD ASS of a Human Being Mark Callaway is for enduring such stuff, keeping his compsure AND staying for long minutes locked in a pod before working for long minutes a wrestling match while litterally burning from inside out...If there was a picture next to the words "Ultimate Pro" in any dictionary, It would feature THIS MAN's picture next to it BIG TIME ! One Of A Kind Talent !
I totally agree.
As someone who has badly bruised their orbital socket in the past, it's the broken orbital socket from back in the 90s that really gets me. That and tales of him putting on a flap jacket to protect broken ribs and keep working.
I love how he says jericho the jackass puts me in the walls so i’m flat on my chest that’s burning. But he was taking chest chops which to me would have been way worse
The chest chops probably stung like hell. But he's also used to those hurting so it probably never registered that it was because of the burns. Being on your chest for the walls isn't usually where the pain is there, so it was more obvious.
To my knowledge, applying friction to where there is a burn on the body makes it worse all around, even more so than getting hit. I also imagine those ring canvases are designed to be rough to prevent a person from just slipping & sliding around, meaning Taker had friction applied to his burnt body on that rough surface by Chris Jericho...and couldn't express how much pain he was in because he was in character. It's no wonder he was so pissed afterwards.
The pure negligence of that pyro guy was just baffling. He's the one in control of the extremely dangerous fire happening just feet from the stars of the show, and the BIGGEST star of the show tells him he doesnt feel safe the way it's set up, and he says that Undertaker's wrong and does it anyway. I really hope he's not anywhere near the special effects industry anymore
