- This clip will illustrate to you how long the club is actually in contact with the ground. A long "flat spot" will make pitching and chipping that much easier for all of us. #WedgeProject
I have the good fortune of having Andrew as my instructor and I did a dedicated pitching lesson with him yesterday. Unequivocally the best pitching lesson of my entire life and centered completely on this notion of the flat spot. I took it right to the short game practice area and then the course for a few holes. I had already bought Andrew's video "The Wedge Project" so I had some expectation of what we were going to discuss but doing it live with him took it to a whole new level.
Thanks, Andrew, and see you in a couple of weeks for the next wedge lesson.

Andrew, what does a tall golfer have to do differently to create a longer 'flat spot" at the bottom, especially if he's not a "single planer" (Kuchar)? Should techniques differ from shorter to taller players? Thank You...
From experience (although at 6'2" I'm not quite sure i qualify as tall) it comes from swinging more around the body. Specifically for a tall golfers, you can set-up for this by adding extra knee flex and standing a little farther from the ball.
Sean H Sean, thanks for you time and insight. Have you adjusted your lie-angles to accommodate changes in setup and swing plane? Flater lies in the shorter irons...
I personally haven't because with the setup I mentioned last post and middle ball position, you should find a plenty flat enough plane. Also as tall players, too shallow of a lie angle messes with the natural steepness of our full-swing planes.
So - not ball first, ground second?
Need a how to though.
