Hello...just to clarify. Discount supermarkets like Eurospin don't carry lesser quality products, but no name brands that are mostly produced in Italy with all the safety rules that are required in this country. The products cost less because they are non commercial made brands. But if you look on the package where they are produced, you'll notice that the names of the manufacturing companies are the same as the big name products. Eurospin can be compared to an Aldi, which you can find in Italy too.😊
GRAZIE. All of the shops have some great items and some not so great even if they are brand names. Eurospin doe offer a great variety of foods . The products also cost less because there is less overhead especially because the items stay in the carton boxes. But for sure the pastas in Eurospin are not the best quality. We do love going there for other items.
Where I live: Barilla pesto 4.75€, Muti passata 700g 3.5€! If I want to make i.e. a "near authentic" Carbonara, I rely on Lidl and their "Italian week" to buy the goods such as Pecorino cheese. As for guanciale, I'm happy to find a decent pancetta. Gosh, how many times I've said that I'll be moving to Italy!
Hi Eszter and Alfred. What was the name of the supermarket that you went to? There is such a great selection. The prices are very good. I was just wondering if the fruit and veg vendor is up for grabs lol 😆 as well as his wonderful looking produce . The views are beautiful from your apartment. Have a great week.Thank you. Much love 😊❤
Do you live in Trecastagni? I lived there for 3 years on Via S Consoli. Thank you for for allowing me to revisit my memories of such a wonder place and incredible people.
You mentioned wine. I drank wine when I was in Sicily almost every day and I never had a problem. I have the wine here and I feel like I’m getting a little acid in my belly.
when I was in Sicily and I looked at the ingredients, they were totally different from the ingredients of the same product that they sell in the United States!!!!!
I make my own bread here in America, because our breads are full of hazardous additives! I make my bread with unbleached unbromated flour, these are not allowed in Europe.
€91 for cheese (that one huge chunk)? No thanks. Mozzarella di bufala is $10 here for one ball so I rarely buy it. I would eat it more in Italy. Are the vegetables similar in ripeness in the supermarket compared to the green grocer?
Guys when are you doing a show that is all about cooking at the Alfred and Esther household. Yes please do a show all about Agrigento. Yes, yes I have suggested that you guys get together with the mayor of Catania and the Tourism Secretary to do a show on the new objectives/initiatives of cleaning up the tons of litter on the highways and byways of Sicily and graffiti all over. That is so mismanage putting asphalt all over the manholes in all the roads, totally mismanaged and with no brains on that head lol, lol, lol. All the best as always. A blessed new week. February is almost here so we are talking groundhog here in the USA then in March St. Patricks where it is not just a great day for the Irish but everyone goes Irish here in the states.
@YouMeandSicily Hi , my name is Nick , i am in Montreal Can. , not paghi poco but your green grocer stated the price of eggs at ,50€ each , ipurchased 1 pack of 30 extra eggs at Costco for $9.60 can.,also just before Christmas my sister purchased 30 eggs with double yolks from a farm for $10 . canadian , which means your green grocers. eggs would have cost us at least ,70€ each , more than double , all eggs aside great show , would love to be there , we are from Cattolica Eraclea, Agrigento 👍🇮🇹🇨🇦

Great showing of the different places to buy food. Totally love how healthy the food in Sicily is!
Ciao! Are you back in Sicily?
I would love to see you guys do a veal scallopini dish with pasta and then a homemade Sicilian dessert all detailed. A blessed week.
You have a great channel. Thanks for sharing
I love listening to all the Sicilian updates 😄 Happy Sunday 🥰
GRAZIE !
That is also what I miss. The Great prices in the grocery store in Sicily!!!
I paid $7.99 in Florida for 1 lb of DeCecco last week!!!!
Ridiculous
Wow!
What a great view from your apartment.
I’ve shopped at the Eurospin& Deco in Sicily and Calabria
Where I live: Barilla pesto 4.75€, Muti passata 700g 3.5€!

The first was Paghi Poco the second Eurospin. Yes he is free. So cute!
Are there any healthfood stores in Sicily? Where do they sell organic food?😊
@NordicCompanionQuail Many!
Do you live in Trecastagni? I lived there for 3 years on Via S Consoli. Thank you for for allowing me to revisit my memories of such a wonder place and incredible people.
Deco, that is where I shopped for most of my food
no but we go there all the time and have many videos from Trecastagni!
CHEESE is so reasonable in Sicily!!
You mentioned wine. I drank wine when I was in Sicily almost every day and I never had a problem. I have the wine here and I feel like I’m getting a little acid in my belly.
Exactly !
Myself, unlike the rest of Italy, I find the Sicilian wines a bit acidy, i.e. Nero Diavolo.
Agree on the quality of food in the USA, yuk!.
Are pesticides commonly used in Sicily? Supermarkets and local farmers?
Italian agriculture is the greenest in Europe.
Rarely used in Sicily!
@@YouMeandSicily That’s wonderful to hear!
blueberries for 5 euro compared to what we get in Canada at maybe 3 dollars canadian big diff ..so not everything is a deal in Italy
It is a big container. In the US we pay about $8 for a container this big.
Probably, because it's not yet the blueberry season here. Blueberries grow spontaneously in our woods in July-August.
when I was in Sicily and I looked at the ingredients, they were totally different from the ingredients of the same product that they sell in the United States!!!!!
i have noticed that prices have gone up since i was last their 3 years ago or maybe its the season
You are correct the prices have gone up since years ago!
You're right, prices gave gone up a lot. It's even worse in northern Italy!!
when I was in Sicily, if I wasn’t buying from the little Vendor, I was buying from Conrad or Todis supermarkets
Bye! From Pompano Beach, Florida
I make my own bread here in America, because our breads are full of hazardous additives! I make my bread with unbleached unbromated flour, these are not allowed in Europe.
hahah this guy is funny and good looking :-D.....

@paulgooderham where did you see that,?
@@YouMeandSicily At 18:05 I think it says provolone 9194€. Maybe if you buy a restaurant. No one has six kids anymore.
