Outstanding! These are mods that should already be on these bags. I use a tall mesh bag around the bottle which pulls out the bottom cup an lid, and also have another cup and lid on the top.
I use a bandanna for my 10x4 kit. Spread the bandanna out the place the cook kit with the canteen nested inside and the kid underneath the cook kit. Draw the corners of the bandanna over everything then slide it in the pouch. Everything will come out effortlessly when you pull the bandanna.
I also REALLY like the Orca Tactical H20 carrier and it's top & bottom zip pouchs!! I've just begun modifying it and so far have two collapseable cups & 40oz Clean Canteen, a GSI S/S cup + a cotton bandana in the main water bottle pouch, plus a Trangia alcohol stove in the bottom pouch. The side pouch now only has a SOL watertight 1st aid kit in it, but each of the pouchs still have 'extra' room, sooo I'm still 'exploring'!!! Thanks for the mod ideas in the video and I appreciate all your time/effort to share with us! Safe backpacking/hiking and bushcrafting to you and yours!!!
I also use the orca. the bottom zipper pouch being the main reason I chose it. I have the Stanley adventurer nested in a cup and both nested in a hobo stove in main pouch. Bottom pouch has a small alcohol stove for redundancy. Front pouch holds utensils, coffee, sanitizer etc. great video thanks
I'm not sure if you've picked up the new Pathfinder bag yet, but as you mentioned it's enough bigger in diameter that it's pretty easy to get stuff in and out now. I wish that Maxpedition would follow suit and make theirs just a smidge wider as well.
Hahaha! I probably shouldn't have since I have more packs than I could use in ten lifetimes, but I couldn't resist trying out the new version. Probably not worth it if you have a serviceable older version but it is pretty nice. My only complaint is that the MOLLE isn't laid out perfectly, and should go higher up the side of the bag. Still it's pretty nice.
I brought up the design with the Pathfinder folks. They thought it was neat. might be hard to get into the manufacturing cycle. Someone brought up this Orca Tactical one on one of my vlogs. 10x4 style but it has an extra zippered "lid" size compartment on the bottom. Looks pretty cool. amzn.to/2DGVYFh
Spiffyguy Adventures you came up with a great idea glad you shared it I bought one it has no name on it made really well for $13 bucks it looks the same I attached it to my backpack I'll have to look at it closer to utilize all the room in the water bag holder. 👍
I have the maxpedition 5" holder that takes a 2 qt kleen kanteen. It also fits the snuff can holder in the lid, which holds a trangia beautifully. Lighter, needle, etc should go in the front pocket, save that lid space for round items that cant go elsehwere. Hard to get the lid off the bottom? Put a piece of web strap down first and use it to pop the lid out when you need it. You need your bottle more than your cup, and your cup more often than your lid, so lid should go on bottom.
The main issue I have with the 4x10s is that the cup and stove are hard to get out. This is solved with the larger Gen 2 pathfinder bottle bag or a maxped 12x6. I like the idea of the web strap in the bottom, might try that. Thanks.
I wrap a cotton bandana around both the cup & water bottle with the ends of the bandana at the top to aid in pulling the bottle/cup out! Makes it easy to do so plus repack plus you have a bandana for it's multitude of uses! Just a thought! Safe backpacking/hiking and bushcrafting to you and yours always!
I have put a variety of things depending on if it is connected to a pack or if I am using it by itself with a strap. But contents could be a disposable space blanket, spoon, water purification drops, snacks, small fire kit. You name it. Whatever rounds out the bag.
Outstanding!

Orca Tactical has the same carrier but also has an additional zip pouch on the bottom as well as the one on top which is roughly the same size.
Cool thanks for the info.

Think I'm gonna get the orca. Seems like a great design
Cool mod, thanks.
Awesome work. Too bad they didn't hire you in the first place to create great gear.
Thanks. That would be a fun job.
Great mods. I have a Onetigris bottle bag arriving soon. I'll see how much room I have left depending on the container. New subscriber here.
Thanks, glad it was helpful.

I still have the old one. Couldn't justify buying the new bag since I have the others.

Nice job...just got the pathfinder bottle cook kit in mail yesterday..like your modification
Great modifications, respect. Thankds for sharing. ATB
Thanks for watching.
Great idea
Thanks I'll have to look at my water bottle holder a little more closer to utilize all the room in it
I like your approach. Buy the thing, and modify it.
There is a lot of good gear out there, but it is not made just for you. Have to be willing to bend your gear to your will. Thanks for watching.
Amazing mod dude.
Thanks.
I like the second better too. We shall see how long it takes the manufacturers to copy you, lol.

great idea!
Very good!
Thanks.
Just curious.... what do you put in the side pocket of these bags?

Great work!
