For the first time in almost a decade I’m not ashamed of our prime minister. Look at how easy he made that look! No aggressive remarks, pulling back to core issues instead of getting sidetracked, I’m not concerned he is going to blurt out bigotry. This is what a leader should be!

You need to read between the lines. Reducing emissions is the excuse for transferring money to the islands, thus gaining political influence, to compete with China's influence in the region.

@VG highest emssions by capita means that the data took all the emissions from the entire country and divided it up person by person on an equal basis. that is the criteria and it comes out with Australia having the highest emissions per capita in the world
I like PM Albanese in fact, I suggested 3 years ago that he should be a Leader for Labor. I think Pm Albanese if he is strong and not be destructed by his constituents bad ideas and be strong to defend Australia and its people from manipulative intruders from other countries and focus on saving poor Australians rather than saving other countries issues then it is a good start. . .

Rental crisis in Australia is dangerous especially when the migration boom post pandemic about to hit, 3 years of development delays, and construction collapse and delays. No governmental help to fast track that sector is sad. Hopefully Albo will look into it sooner.

Help the pacific islands cut emissions? These islands have been trying to get Australia to cut their emissions for years. What's disgusting about it? It's in the same family of policies as Japan's Asian Energy Transition Initiative to provide these nations with advanced power plants to replace old inefficient coal burners. Smaller developing nations have complained that decarbonization rules are asking them to cut their economic output, so this provides them with the means to produce energy much more efficiently and meet carbon cutting goals without sacrificing growth.

The Quad meeting isn't to sign anything. It's a discussion between the leaders of the US, Australia, Japan and India to work together and support one another across a range of issues such as climate change and Chinese expanison in the Indo-Pacific Region. It's an informal gathering. There's no full blown legislations being signed but more handshake agreements and discussion on how each country can help the others mutually progress.
