The Runner got me. But honestly I think this is the best campaign I ever played since Black Ops 2. I bought this game instead of infinite warfare and I'm glad I did.
to make it worse, at the end of the Matteo story he says "Happy birthday, Matteo". that always gets me. And when the song at the end of the runner kicks in, it gives me freaking goosebumps.
They should have had a mission where you play as a german flametrooper, and throughout it the flametrooper is describing the horrors he saw as he burnt the soldiers alive, how he has no choice. And at the end he ends up saving both british and german troops from the rubble of a bunker after it gets shelled by friendly artillery, and after he saves them he ends up burning alive. But instead of feeling panicked at his combustion, the german soldier accepts it as the flames to redeem him of his sins. Essentially, a war story of a German flametrooper who wished to redeem himself of the destruction he caused by saving both friend and foe and burning in the flames he killed with.
Or a story about a soldier and his dog. Iirc I think I heard somewhere about dogs being used by Germany for tracking/scouting etc? I might be wrong, but that's basically what I'm hinting at.

You know I used to love playing COD but after playing Battlefield war stories I've realized, this is so emotionally captivating and so much more mature. This one hit me really hard in the feels. Playing COD now feels like bratty hooliganism.
