Thanks for filming even the seemingly mundane routine of breaking down camp in the morning. I’ve learned over my first wilderness outings that without some organization and effort, something so seemingly simple can turn into a shitshow really fast, resulting in lost gear and a lot of waisted time. I enjoyed your posting.
I just try to capture the essence of my camp - some of the majors parts are setup and breakdown. I try to emulate the feeling - my camps are usually nice and relaxed and hopefully this comes across. thanks
What a lovely camp matey. I love how you do things real time because us campers know that its not a 5 minute job to 0itch, cook etc, but newbies can be mislead can't they if its made to look quick, especially packing up. Thank you, it was most enjoyabbubble 😊
Hoping to take my new xmid for a trip to the Cheviots for its first outing as well! That groundsheet is a perfect fit as I've been looking for something to cover the vestibules. Could you let me know where you got it from please?
Nice video and set up mate, love that location. Really liking the Durston, at a crossroads for a trekking pole tent, I’m torn between MLD too. Atb Dave
cheers Davey mate, yeah its a great tent mate - feel free t drop me a message and we can get out and you can give it a spin? The MLD i had was brilliant just no where near as easy to setup as the durston. cheers for watching mate
Great video and I’ve been looking at this tent as my replacement for an old Berghaus one. How would you rate it for being used in winter in the Lakes and perhaps Scotland?
Talking about having a bit of bait. My mother in law ( dead now ) when she came to live in the North East from Glasgow area, went shopping with her new local female friend. Her friend said, i've got to go to the butchers for some corned beef for my husband's bait. The mother in law said, why, is he going fishing ?
Hiya pal just waiting to get my X Mid 1P Solid delivered so researching the hell out of it on RUclips as you do noticed your quintcraft ground sheet and have reached out to them but my question is how do you set them up as I noticed you didn't set it up with your initial peg out if you know what I mean and would you recommend great vid by the way cheers for any advice in advance buddy atb 😀👍
Can I ask what groundsheet you're using? I've been looking for one that'll fit the entire footprint of a p1, vestibules and all. EDIT: nvm, I found the answer further down in the comments.
It's a lovely pitch up there with great views. I did wonder if it was passable, going up the way you did, had considered it.😊 Great night shots again.😊
I had no real issues with pitching and it stood up to the elements well! take a look at a few of my others Durston vids to see it in some trickier weather..
I've often looked at that shortcut you took, straight up to the back of the crags, so it's nice to know it can actually be done & I'm sure it'd save a whole lot more than 15mins. Nice camp Steven, your still photo's are exceptional. I've obviously camped there a few times myself lol (not just down in the bowl, there's some pretty neat spots nearby as well) and on a clear night it's an amazing place for star watching Not a fan of the Durston though, it's just not my type of tent, but it does look really pretty in your photo's. TFS, atb DVS :)
Cracking pitch mate, and do like great x-mid..for a spring/summer mat im using the trekology ul80 unbelievably comfortable with a mylar sheet, looking at coe crags next have you ever been up there ? Cheers all the best 👍
Nice one Steven, great area to camp, seen this place on a few vids before and always fancied it, looks good, looks like the weather wasn’t too bad for you, I’m lovin the xmid, hopefully with all this nice weather coming in we will hopefully have more Durston days🤞, looking forward to get out in mine, great set up mate, good sleep system, is the s2s mat much heavier than the neo air? Spot on mate, atb Mick 👍
Hi Mick, yeah interms of the S2S its around 250g more but is slightly comfier. id asy the weight isnt and issue its more bulk than anythig. The x-mid with the solid inner is much more suited to our country with its wind rather than the mesh. Im looking forward to testing the 2p version out.
Haha you know me mate...I really enjoy using it but nothing is forever. Yeah the kakwa is great, very comfortable however the pack in this adventure is the Hyberg Atilla Ultra. cheers for wathcing mate
Seen several for sale used on Facebook. You can buy directly from kaviso but would need to pay duty. Be hard pressed to find a tent this functional for the price imo.
Cracking video, and lovely camp. Thanks for sharing :)
Glad you enjoyed it

yeah I like to capture the essence of the camp - I love setting up tents!
Thanks for sharing! By the way, where did you get that groundsheet?
This is from quincraft - can find them on facebook
@@thegeordiewildcamper thank you!
What a great spot it's tickled my interest. Another slick well made vid. I'm taking notes 👍 thanks for making and sharing
cheers Mark, yeah stunning location and easy to get to.

I got the ground sheet from a Quintcraft on facebook - great service!
@@thegeordiewildcamper thank you. I should have guessed as it was well constructed. Love supporting an autistic run business so will order one ASAP!
Ya can't beat a bit of off roading to get to a camp spot. Star pics were amazing Stephen. Another lovely video 😊
thanks Emz! yeah got to mix it up now and again but love this spot.

Lovely view, what ground sheet are you using with the Durston Xmid ?
its a custom groundsheet made by Quint craft - can find them on facebook
Great video and I’ve been looking at this tent as my replacement for an old Berghaus one. How would you rate it for being used in winter in the Lakes and perhaps Scotland?
I think it can do pretty well in most conditions but does have its limitations.

You can tie it directly to the tent to negate the need to peg out separately

it was much quicker- although It looked like an adders paradise!
Sorry, I know I’m commenting on a year old video but, is this X-mid the solid version? Looks a bit ‘greener’ than normal.
Yeah this is the solid version. They have a new darker colour now. I’ll be putting a video out tonight with it in that might help
How do you find pitching the Dunston on uneven ground please? Would you recommend it for the UK?
I had no real issues with pitching and it stood up to the elements well! take a look at a few of my others Durston vids to see it in some trickier weather..
@@thegeordiewildcamper Thanks very much...the bill will be in the post! 🤣🤣
Hi
How did you get those wicked star pictures? What camera or settings did you use etc?
I'm using the Lumix S5 and a 50mm 1.8 lens - I need to check the photo again for details.
I've often looked at that shortcut you took, straight up to the back of the crags, so it's nice to know it can actually be done & I'm sure it'd save a whole lot more than 15mins. Ill second Donna's last statement...yeah, camped up there a few times. Cracking spot.
such a special place - as you say plenty more around it aswell - got my eye on a few tbh but im so indecisive hahah
Why you no like durston
@sonjabelanger5396 there are a lot of tents that I wouldn't use, there's nothing wrong with those tents, they're just not for me.
Nice one mate good vid.
Keep looking at that tent.
Did you have a footprint that covered the vestibules ?
Cheers Graham
Yeah the custom footprint for quintcraft covers the vestibules. Check them out on FB
@@thegeordiewildcamper
Thanks mate.
Are you impressed with the tent ?
@@grahamscothern4319 I’m on my second now mate brilliant tent.

yeah its a great place although logging has made it a little inaccesbile!
Where's the ground sheet from?
Quincraft
What footprint is that you are using with your x-mid
This is a 3ful footprint from a Lanshan
@thegeordiewildcamper do you have a link for it looks a good fit does it stay connected all the time when packing away
What rucksack are you using here mate? Looks nice. Simon
this is the Hyberg Atilla Ultra
some good night shots there pal.. ATB from Canada 🙏
top man - thanks for your continued support.
Good video, looks like a great location, where is it please?
hey! im not overly keen on dropping locations due to some previous issues but if you DM me on insta or facebook ill help.
Great video, hard going the way you went, glad you had a great camp, always loved that camping spot not to far to drive, keep up the vids mate.
Rough location? Cheers
@@l45key Not rough location just a bit of a rough way there through the trees, the way most people go is a lot easier.
@@dino19671 sorry I meant could you give a rough location so I can try it.

Is there a particular reason you use the Bivi as well….is it due to condensation within the tent or just as an extra layer of warmth?
extra warmth

Thanks
this is a customer footprint by quintcraft.

It looks similar to ones made by Quintcraft.
guys nailed it below!
Thought so, I ordered and received a footprint for my Durston x-mid 2p from quint craft but not had the chance to try it out yet.
£10.99 for a dehydrated meal? 😮? Were there Michelin stars on the packet?
😂😂😂
I like this brand but £10.99 is steep!
cant buy one in UK

Very good video, I have been attracted by your wonderful video content, I am looking forward to our cooperation, thank you!
