More Elvis for sure! 👍 Elvis has the best reputation because he’s the best who ever did it. So creative. Brought people together of all types. The music legends look up to Elvis- Baz Lerham’s Elvis movie created MILLIONS OF NEW YOUNG ELVIS FANS!! And the best part is that they gott interested in the real man and his amazing best ever art.
This was a segment in that 68 television special where he got together with his old original band, minus the stand up bass player Bill black, who died early, and in the end they didn't really even have a chance to rehearse as they ran through these old songs. They hung out for a bit in the hotel room and then came down and did this from what I understand. So for them it was nostalgia and like the old days. And it was in the round, and meant to be informal, and so a smaller more intimate setting like you said, and then later it launches into the big huge stage production for that television special. There are a number of other clips from this exact same setting, and they are all just so much fun and they really give you good insight. One of everybody's favorites is called, Trying To Get To You, the singing on it is just incredible but all of these songs from that segment of that show are really informal and there's a lot of fun being had.
Elvis is forever and Always and so so sexy in this comeback special in ,1968 , I remember that night when I was only 8 years old and me and my sister sat right in front of the big console TV , and I was in heaven , blessed to see him in concert 3 times and those are the greatest moments of my life , Elvis is an enigma that can't be explained , other than He was a Precious Gift from God who touched the entire world and as you said he is still doing just that v, Genius is not even a great enough description for Elvis , It's a rare occasion that One MAN Can Touch the world the way Elvis does and always will ,I in my opinion he should be in the History books the kids im in school to see What This Beautiful MAN Among Men Elvis is all about , Pure Magic and Mystic Fire inside and out, Beauty beyond belief and so much Charisma and Charm , but a very humble man till the very end b, We all miss Elvis , Never again will you see an artist who keeps on giving forever and Always, great reaction and thank you again. TCB 1935
Elvis had been in Hollywood making movies for the last eight years. This comeback special was the first time he was in front of a live audience. With this special it put him right back on top.. thank you for reacting to the best there ever was or ever will be.
He does this again, This time standing up. So much better, This just shows his fun side Same show. I think you would really love Elvis. His kindness to anyone in need. His great support for the Black community. 32 Movies. 0ver 700 songs. Gospel ,jazz, blues, rock, country, Love songs. so on...
Notice 3:12 when he touched his throat & said "Hold it, I'm out of breath, wait a minute." He also coughed a few x's during the song. It's been noted that he inherited the genetic condition A-1 antitrypsin which causes COPD/emphysema & liver issues. But of course, Elvis being Elvis, he made light of the little breathing problem at that point & just continued on.
Steve Binder, directed and produced the '68 Comeback Special. I saw in a documentary about the special, that Binder had heard Elvis jamming into the night like this, after filming all day. He wanted Elvis to perform in the Special naturally like he was during those jams. The Colonel didn't want Elvis to perform this way, and Binder said Elvis was nervous about doing it. Steve said when it was time for Elvis to come out, he wasn't sure if he would. That's the joking awkwardness in the beginning of the song. Elvis found his groove in those songs, playing with his previous bandmates he performed with before he started making movies. Binder said that the Colonel kept most of the tickets for the public to get in. Pricing them high and they weren't selling. Steve Binder and some of his crew went to surrounding fast food restaurants and other places to get enough people to be in the crowd for the taping of this. They were fortunate ones!
Thanks for your wonderful reaction. Yeah, the movie was quite inaccurate on many things, timeline wise and certainly his relationship with his EX wife (who has been riding his coattails for decades now, more than 50 years since their divorce). Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off. As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis. One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.
Elvis has been around he started in 1956 and this was 68 he had been in the military and then did movies for several years. He was always amazing. I never heard people making fun of him but I’m glad I didn’t. He was an amazing, beautiful man and always will be. There will never be anybody else like him.
It’s a cruel irony how kids who were too young to know Elvis are told that he was racist, a joke musician, a stupid Southern caricature, when he was a brilliant musician raised in the black community who put his very life on the line to force a change in society, who shared everything he had, to the point that it finally killed him, after giving away so much money that when he died he had $5 million, which is a lot, but come on. The man sold 1 billion records. Who does it help to create a false story? I’ve never understood it. My mother saw him play in Fort Worth on a trailer behind a truck ten years before I was born. My grandmother liked him because his manners were perfect.
This was after he came home from the army. Don't take this the wrong way but I'm 48, he died 47 years ago and I know enough about Elvis and his music being played throughout my childhood and seeing his films. You look at least my age and you'd know as much as I do about him. My parents didn't listen to his music and my taste is very different to his style but come on, you *know Elvis. This was his finest hour, in his prime. There's never been anyone like him since, and he was born to wear that leather suit 🔥
There's a comment here that says kids today know Elvis as a racist.. OMG.. who says that.. Elvis grew up in the black community.. he was the least racist artist of his time probably..My mom raised me on Elvis and my dad raised me on Frank Sinatra.. Frank also fought for Sammy Davis Jr. to get into hotels at that era.. Truly the Chairman of the Board and the King of Rock I would never call racist. I know my children have heard more Elvis than Frankie.. but I tried to teach them well... even though I'm Hair Band era and my children definitely know that music lol

Well, if you wanna watch anything, I would start with Elvis and the black community part one and then watch Elvis and the black community part two. It’s highly educational it will inspire you and it will really completely shock you. I will go from there. see how much he had to endure in the beginning when Whites wouldn’t deal with them because he was a white boy that acted black. He went through some rough times just trying to be Elvis Presley because Elvis grew up with the black community and that’s all he knew and during segregation he was not accepted. He went through a lot and the fact that he stood up for the black community during a time when he shouldn’t havesays a lot about Elvis Presley in fact that the end of this particular special sang a song in tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F Kennedy after their assassinations. Quite inspiring is called if I can dream God bless and take care.
Elvis was great. I❤ to hear & watch him. Georgeous man❤
Best entertainer I have ever seen to this day. Saw him four times. He had the IT factor.
Love Elvis❤ thank you!

Trying to get to you is a real banger . Elvis performed that song in the same 1968 special
Elvis loved his fans and oozed charisma. There will never be another Elvis. ❤

Already seen it
Never wrote a song
Like Sinatra...Whitney....Rihanna...Elton John...Diana Ross...and?....they are all great !👍
He Co- wrote some songs !!! And thank GOD he didnt write, we would not have 700+ songs from him!!! So, try again
Add the great Ella Fitzgerald to that mix of non-song writers. Let's remember that writing/composing a song does not make a great singing artist.
How many rappers write music?I know they write lyrics but it seems like they “sample” the music from other songs.
😂😂😂
