Simple and Popular ESL Sentence Game: "Bull's Eye"
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 дек 2021
- Play this simple ESL sentence game to practice sentence structures. On the board, draw concentric circles, each worth certain points. Organize the students into teams, and each team takes turns to make sentences to get closer to the board so they can throw the soft toy at the circle. One sentence = one step!
Variation for higher grades: Tape lines on the floor of varying distances - one line for easy questions, another for medium questions, and the last one for hard questions. The line with the hard questions should be much closer to the board than the line with the easy questions. Each correctly answered question gets the student one step closer to the target. Great for reviews!
Your students are going to have a lot of fun playing this game! I guarantee it!!

I don't really care what people say, I'll continue playing these kind of games with my university students. ✌🏻
Each game/activity/exercise must have a language point and reinforce what you have taught. :)
The best teacher in the world continues to make us the happiest and the most professional teachers in the world! Thanks a lot, this merry and active, energetic game is what we defenetly need now at the end of the term )
Thank you very much, Maya. I am not the best (not even close) but I certainly appreciate your compliment!
@Maria L Thank you very much, Maria!
The atmospere in the classroom is very warm and joyful. It's obvious the students love and respect their teacher. The game is great! Thanks a lot!

How cool you are! I enjoy watching any of your lessons. Your students are extremely lucky to have you as a teacher ❤️
Hi Leonna! It has been a very long time since the last time someone called me cool. Thank you! :))
I am happy you enjoy my videos!
Loved seeing how happy they all were. Good man putting smiles on so many faces

You’re literally the best! Thank you for all these wonderful and amazing teaching methods and examples!!!
I'm not the best but thank you for your feedback. It's definitely nice to hear your praise! Thank you!
I love the strategy! It's exciting indeed!
I guess this is the mark of being a teacher when you get this video as a RUclips recommendation :D But I am grateful for the algorithm. As a fellow male ESL teacher this is really inspiring. Although, I am still a rookie and quite envious at seeing how good you have the younglings under control. Sometimes I feel like I am wrestling with a force of nature when it is the younger classes... Your way of teaching is definitely something I will strive to move toward. Even when it is sometimes so overwhelming.
Wow, thanks! Your comment means the world to me. Classroom management and short attention spans are two things we all struggle with in large classes but, eventually, we all learn to pace our classes just right. Have faith in yourself. It is just a matter of time you spend in your classroom. Experience matters! :))
As an ESL teacher in Turkey, I love this game and will certainly use it in my classes. Thank you, sir!
Best of luck! Thank you!

Labai ačiū, man Jūsų vaizdo įrašai labai padeda kaip jaunam anglų kalbos mokytojui :)
Sveiki! Man labai malonu matyti jūsų komentarą. Džiugu, kad tarp mano žiūrovų yra ir tautiečių. :)
Amazing activity to play with my students
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing the game! I wish I could hold children's attention like you do 👍
Thank you! Children in China are very obedient and have a lot of respect for the teacher. It doesn't mean they don't get rowdy or misbehave. The trick, in my opinion, is to be thoroughly prepared and genuinely show that you care. :)
@@Teacher-Val oh, great! Unfortunately, children in my country (Russia) are not so respectful like in China or Japan, for example. This is why teachers have to try hard to hold their attention 😅 thank you for your pieces of advice, I find them useful!
@@lavendermelody9223 Thank you! Yes, there is a great deal of respect for the teacher in China. Many foreign teachers still struggle with classroom management issues but, from what I hear, it is nothing compared to the students in the US or Europe.
I didn't know this game. Thanks
Glad it was useful!
Thank you@
Thank you very much,sir
Most welcome! ❤
Awesome continues teacher val
Thank you, Najwa!
you are a genius!
Not really, haha. Thank you! 😉
I like this game. I'm trying to think how to adapt it for my online classes. You have fun energy.
Thank you! What software do you use for online classes?
What a game lol Thanks for sharing Val:) I am deeply impressed by your high-quality channel 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Thanks, I'm going to use it with my kindergartens and pre-first students, we can also practice counting to check who won, but I'm sure everybody is going to learn and want to participate.
Sounds great! Let me know if they loved it. :)
I really like your lesson
U r doing a great job with your students
Thank you! 😃
What a great game!! I can't wait to do this! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome! Let me know how it worked in your class. :)
@@Teacher-Val It was great! I used it with run-on sentences and FANBOYS! Thank you again!!
@@Englishteachpr So happy it worked well! After the winter break, I will resume posting these simple and effective games.. :)
Really nice
Fantastic teacher!!! Excellent class management. Thank you for sharing your game.
Many thanks!
@@Teacher-Val You could easily be a professional teacher trainer, like the DELTA trainers or the NATGEO trainers...or a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Scholar. You're so talented!! I love your country, too - my mother was from Finland. I've been to all the Baltic states, esp Estonia.
@@vallerina1960 Thank you, Valerie! I appreciate it. Actually, I am a teacher trainer (certified TESOL instructor). I run professional development workshops at my school every month.
Where are you from?
@@Teacher-Val Why am I not surprised! You are an extraordinary educator!
I'm an American teacher, currently working for the US Air Force in Riyadh. But my MA degree was in Russian literature so I had the opportunity to visit the Baltics several times as a graduate student, long ago.
Have you ever considered applying for a Fulbright? Or doing the DELTA?
@@vallerina1960 Cooool! Guess what?!! I have two master's, one in management, and one in... wait for it... literature and creative writing!!! I am so happy you are familiar with the Baltics because we are too small to be noticed. I am practically in love with you just because you know where I am from. Haha. :))
I am way too busy to do the DELTA. Plus, I know that CELTA/DELTA focuses primarily on adults and I am teaching the little ones.
One of the teachers I am friends with took the CELTA course and it had very little practical application because it was detached from real-life lessons by light years. Sorry, Cambridge!
Teaching native speakers and ESL or L2 learners are two VERY different worlds. That is exactly why there are TESOL or TEFL majors at the universities.
using the simplest game ideas with excellent classroom control techniques you are an ESL guru!!! I will be watching your content and learning, thank you so much.
Thank you so much! Where are you from? What grades are you teaching?
@@Teacher-Val I teach primary, secondary and adults, so all levels across the board. And you?
@@chogenkigirl I teach grade 4. In the past, I used to teach primary, all levels, and the first year of middle school.
Have a like & a new follower, good Teacher. I'll apply that game.
Hi Daniela! Thank you, and welcome to my channel! Excited to have you here. 🌹
Great 👍
Thank you teacher Val it's a beauuuuuuutiful game .🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍👍 your learners enjoyed it so much. I know that my learners will like it as well.
Thank you 🤗 Yes, it is a lot of fun and it works on so many levels. If you want to get your students to speak, play this game because everyone wants to get closer to the board to hit the bull's eye, and there is only one way to get closer: speak more! :)))
No conocía el juego, lo voy a implementar en mi clase. Gracias : )
Thank you, Pedro! I hope what you see here will be useful in your class!
..this game is great, my students loves playing it, again and again, thank you soo much..
You are very welcome! Glad you liked it!
This is a fantastic idea. I think it could work when teaching specific vocab too (well I hope so, I will try).
Thank you! Yeah, this game has various applications, that's why it's so popular in ESL world.
its wonderful
Thanks!
The excitement!
:)))
These are good pupils. Would be great to try with troubled children who really hate English like in my school
Yes, they are wonderful pupils! I am blessed to work as a teacher in China because teachers here have the highest levels of public respect. However, there are all kinds of students and, in my opinion, at the end of the day, what you get out of your teaching is what you put in. If you work hard and conduct yourself in a professional manner, you'll earn the respect of your students. I am not saying it applies to everyone; I'm just sharing what I have learned as a foreigner working in China.
Great!
This is so brilliant
Thank you!
Good morning teacher val 🥰 merry Christmas and a happy New year's 💖
Thank you!!!
Ugh it's so hard to work with youngsters. You rock!
Thank you!
Thank you, I've tried it with my student today and she liked it 👍🏻
Great to hear! Only one student? Do you tutor as a part-time job?
@@Teacher-Val I am a teacher in online school + personal tutor for 10 y.o. girl (offline) 😊
Wow! Wow! What a Brilliant Lesson . I feel happy and enjoying like your students unawarely . You're the best indisputable .
I applied the 5 rules in my classroom then it's work very well with my students they're in grade 3 boys and girls . Now I am going to apply the target game in my class ( bull's eye) l am sure they're gonna love it like their teacher . 🤗 To be honest I'm looking for how to play this game and apply in a real classroom, in You Tube, but l got many of them and I got understand how to apply in the class, however I know it now thank to make this video for us . May God bless you wherever you are. 👍
Thank you!!! I am very happy my videos help! May God bless you too!
Wonderful
You're the best❤
I am really not, but thank you for saying that! I am sure that you are, in many ways, way better than I am. God bless you and your family! 🌹
I think this game 🎯 would brilliantly fit well up till grade 7or 8 , depending how is used ..This is awesome , as a teacher I'm trying this when the school 🏫 resumes .thanks Val...Happy new year ...Bless up!!!
Yes!!! Any primary school game can be adapted to higher grades. Happy New Year!!!
