A frustrated and exhausted Dean (Jensen Ackles) begins to think the only way to stop Lucifer and save the planet is to say yes to becoming Michaels vessel, but unbeknownst to him the angels have been coming up with a Plan B. Dean, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Castiel (Misha Collins) and Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver) are horrified at the angels' new idea and take on Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) to prevent the beginning of the end on Earth. Also guest stars Jake Abel as Adam. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Jeremy Carver.
After everything that's happened it's only normal for Dean to feel like he wants to give up, it's for the greater good not like he's giving into Lucifer. He's always been one to self-sacrifice and I think he's just gotten so depressed and hopeless that he can't see any other way. He wants Michael to be strong enough to kill Lucifer before Lucifer gets to take Sam as his vessel.

I agree, Dean has been through so much more than anyone else. He always puts everyone else (especially Sam) before himself. I think breaking point for him though was when they went to heaven & he saw that Sam's happiest memories were without him so Dean won't feel bad leaving Sam because he thinks deep down it's what Sam really wants.

My good god.. something tells me this episode is going to be a tearjerker. Cannot wait!
What happened to Dean? Really? What kind of question is that? After a lifetime in hell, being tortured in hell everyday for 30 years, and forced to inflict that same torture for 10 years(helltime), plus everything else- I think Dean's meltdown is way overdue. The guy always gets the raw end of the deal. Time for some overdue compassion and help.
Maybe it cuz Dean was the most tired of his life, Sam's life and their parents's lives being played for some apocalyptic fate.
No!! Dean, don't give up just yet!!
I can't wait for this episode, it'll be so great to have Dean, Sam, Cas and Bobby all together again, and it looks intense.

OMG OMG OMG! I just got this and I can't help but to think that this was forshadowing or whatever. When Bobby takes the gun out and says that, he thought about shouting himself and in season 7 he actually dies from a bullet.

Dean has a whole different ordeal so everyone stop compariing the Sam's past situation to Dean's present. Dean has the right to give up, he's been through more than anyone on the show (not sure about Cas.) Though he shouldn't have said it to bobby, he was right when he said that they're not in his shoes. Saving alot of people while killing the rest is not an easy choice especially when everything's against you.
@aakaido They may not be in his shoes, but these people have given up everything for Dean, they believed in him and followed him and fought for him so that he wouldn't have to say yes. Jo, Ellen, Bobby, and Cas, how does Dean face them then? How is he gonna explain that all they've given up is for nothing in the end? Is it any wonder that Bobby's angry and Cas is feeling betrayed?
@Tmp2364 I'd say after everything that's happened and all the sacrifices made by all those people who believed when Dean said that they can find another way, Bobby's question is valid. As much as Dean's lost of hope is justifiable, so is the anger from Bobby and Cas and everyone else who's sacrificed everything to follow Dean. And I'd say those people do deserve an explaination.
I hope Dean changes his mind at the end of this show I dont want the brothers to fight

@BetaArtemis You're right. Everybody that's been involved with Dean since the beginning to now have given up evertyhing and have the right to feel angry and betrayed if Dean says yes. However no one else is living with the guilt Dean has on his shoulders. None watsoever since the very beginning of the show. All I'm saying is that either way things turn out, the blame or anger is going to fall on Dean's head

@twin22NC Just because one has a brother doesn't mean he can't have another. Cas is a different kind of brother than Sam. Sammy is Dean's baby brother by blood, Cas is more of the brother in arms. You don't like Cas, that's fine, but Cas has served many important part of the show's mythology and storylines. Besides, no one says that Cas is taking away Sammy's place in Dean's heart, but it doesn't mean that Cas can't be important to Dean either.
@SupportSPN Especially Cas (who I believe was the only person who had a reason to kick his ass). Castiel gave EVERYTHING to Dean and Dean just threw it back in his face. I'd be bent if I were Castiel, who btw, has been putting up with Dean's shit for the longest time.
So yea, is it just me, or is this Dean's teenage rebellion coming 'bout 10 years late? Or maybe hell's aftermath and all the deaths finally catching up to him? Didn't mean that in a bad way; see, Sam's had his problems and has had help resolving them, and now it's Dean's turn. I for one am really surprised at the turn that Dean's taken...but can you really blame him?
@ungagen oh yeah, and all those people who sacrificed everything for him so that he won't have to say yes, he's just gonna be mean and pissed off at them right? This isn't about Dean wanting to save humanity and be possessed, it was about humanity's survival if Michael and Lucifer really break out the war. That was why he said no in the first place.
@anya7979 Okay, I totally understand where you're coming from. But do you hear this guy sometimes? I love Dean as much as the next person. Honest. I do. And I hurt for him when he hurts, but the dude needs a wake up call. He thinks he has to shoulder everything and not share the load with the people who care for him.

Dean freaking needs one. Not saying he DESERVES to get beat up or yelled at all night, but c'mon. Sam asked him to stay, Dean knew that Sam couldn't do it alone, he told him he was the only think keeping him going. And he left, without even saying goodbye. (Albeit Sam did the same thing so many times).
Dean is so out of character now. Cas looks pissed and Sam soooo tired. And poor Bobby... I love Dean and all, but right now... geeeeez!
I love (note sarcasm) how the most extreme dean girls turns all pure hate to anyone who dares not kiss Dean's ass. He's being a prick at the moment
@8977phantom I really doubt that they'll give Sam the part to really step up. They'll put him in a position where he tries really hard to do so but he will fail (not that I don't want to see him save the day). But the main character has always been Dean from the very beginning and it's most likely going to end with him.
@anya7979 Well, it doesn't seem like Dean ever responds when someone's being all sympathetic to him, so clearly only angry words gets through to him. And besides, the anger from Bobby and Cas especially are more than justified, they've given up everything for Dean to go on fighting, and now he's spitting on those sacrifices? Is it any wonder that they're pissed?

@anya7979 you have to take what people say with a grain of salt. (no pun intended) it is after all their opinion. i think what is happening to dean will play itself out over the rest of this season. he has been holding a lot of things inside, you can only do that for so long before you break. it's painful to see him like this but i hope it will give sammy the opportunity to step up and save the day for once.

Dean is on the Angel's side. He's not really doing a bad thing. Sam gave in into the demon blood. Moreover, you should understand how he feels. I mean, if he does not accept Michael the world is screwed and if he dies the angels will bring him back again. After all Dean has been through it's pretty normal he is the way he is. He is human for God's sake.

wow how can you say that? cast besides giving the show power and he is adorable dean likes him. lets face it dean doesnt feel love because people around him die and his family didnt quite do a good job not that it was ther faul some can argue. cast is like a friend and he only tries to make things better and give his honest feedback on things. cast is like a good brother and although he is awkward at times thats what makes his character POP!.
@BetaArtemis Bobby and Cas aren't "following" Dean. Cas rescued Dean from Hell because it was an order from heaven. Cas made his own decisions Bobby, Dean and Sam are family they save each other. Dean is saying and doing things he normally wouldn't, that right there is a clear cry for help. An explanation is not what they need, they should realize that Dean is finally hitting rock bottem and losing perspective. Dean got through to Bobby, now Sam, Cas and Bobby need to get through to Dean.

I hate that everyone's like I hate Dean and Sam for breaking the seals. Dean never knew a thing about seals when he was in hell so I know that's gotta be killing to know he started something he knew nothing about. Sam on the other hand, thought that killing Lilith was to stop the seals from breaking and believed that the angels were working for God (you know Sam believed in God). But Sam went about it the wrong way.
No seriously, this time, even I'M shocked at dean.. I'm in love with him, obsessed even. But even I know when that's a step too far. Jeez.. I know he's having a tough time but like Bobby's said, he's promised not to give up. Atleast he's got people going for him. I think he acted like a douche this time.. sorry.
@joeyshuny5 have you ever been dissapointed over and over again and just lost hope. i dont see how you say dean is acting irresponsible or that the fans are trying to justify his actions really? hw can you compare what sam did to what dean did totally different ground. dean is just tired of getting put down and trying to change something that seems impossible and well he feels guilty cause he did started... first seal. i love them both but i can understand his actions
Whatever. Don't get me wrong please. I love Dean. I have always loved Dean. I have watched Supernatural since the very beggining. I know bad behavior when I see it. I'm not saying Dean is a bad guy because he's not. I hate the way he's acting and if you want to give him an excuse for it so be it. I love Both my brothers but I don't give them free rides.

@ackles13 I didn't mean to say anything to upset people. I adore Dean and I adore Sammy. I know the show would totally suck without both brother. It always makes me mad when I hear people make crappy comments about either brother. I understand Dean has gone through horrible times. I kind of think they both have. To be honest I wouldn't wish either boys life on my worst enemy. I love the fact neither boy is perfect. That would be completely unbelieveable. We're all flawed.
