This song reminds me of my first love. 17 years old sitting in the passenger side of his old truck while this played. Grinning at him while he danced and occasionally glanced over at me to sing to me. Just aimlessly driving around at night because my mom and dad wouldn’t let us be alone together or close my bedroom door. 😂
It was so sweet. That was the best love and hearing this song instantly takes me back to that night looking at him and how insanely in love I was with him.

That relationship had incredible highs, partly due to their meth use, but it was also an escape from their real feelings. Now that the singer's partner has either realised it was unhealthy or succumb to addiction, she has withdrawn from him, he's left to deal with the hole in his heart that anyone feels after a breakup combined with the emptiness he feels now that he isn't getting high all the time. He has to deal with his raw emotions, and it's incredibly difficult, because he pushed away from his community and support network during that toxic relationship.
There is a tangible sense of both nostalgia for the good times and the painful regret of the consequences of his own actions that makes the song so poignant.

Everyone is sad and listening to this song makes then want to go back. Can we all just appreciate we're alive now? No one is ever happy with their age...when you're 30, you wanna go back 20. When you're 40, you'd kill to be 30 again. When you're 60 you'd do anything to go back to 40. Let's all just be thankful for what we have, and we're all still here to enjoy it.

@@dragontales1999 Third Eye Blind has been legally contentious since they broke nationally with Stephan Jenkins being sued for songwriting royalties that weren't being paid to the other members and also fraudulently claiming he majority, solely, wrote the songs. I think this hampered them and is why their album quality and sales kept going down. It probably also affected other income streams due to having to pay lawyers instead of just giving the money to the band members who co-wrote most of the tracks. Request the song and see what happens. I think the music is great. Jenkins is just a greedy guy for cutting out his collaborators

I still remember going to the Tower Records in Huntington Beach to pick it up the day it was released. It didn't let me down. It is the treasure chest of my memories of trying to find my own way after graduating from college.
