Most people never read Rush’s lyrics. They are truly the most beautiful, poetic, insightful, inspiring, creative and intelligent words ever written in the history of rock music.
Once again, I found myself going to @RushLyricsOnScreen for finding the lyrics to Rush. I never knew how lyrically beautiful this song is. Going from two chaotic hemispheres to one unified sphere. The last part is some of Peart's most underrated lyrics. ;''-) By the way, I've always liked the instruments in this song. That's the only reason I first checked out this song. No regrets. GO RUSH!
Bill Bishop Hate to be the wet blanket here and I am not a hater. I've watched this channel a lot too. Many of the lyrics are accurate - many are not. As a RUSH purest and rabid fan since '76 these inaccuracies smack me in the face like a fist when they show up on the screen. It's like fingernails on a blackboard to me. I wish the makers of these videos would just take a little more time to research and get it right. A better source for accuracy is "Power Windows" or "www.2112.net/powerwindows/main/Home.htm." Even in the one, 'RushLyricsOnScreen' has the line: Marble white and PUREST gold" down as "pure as" ... which is incorrect. Nit-picking? Perhaps. But you still want it to be right, don't you? I do. MayWeHaveYourLiver I still have to give this guy credit for trying. Albeit, thank you for the links and that Hemispheres example. Now I feel extra content.
I have loved RUSH since 1980 and have loved their older stuff since shortly after that. This song in particular, the part of 5:23 to 6:23 is an absolutely never ending source of excitement for me. Just absolutely love that entire segment and everything about it. For some reason the music and lyrics and they way it is all structured, the way it is sung is perfection for me.
They brought innerstanding.....and higher consciousness .....soooooo many didn't, and still don't hear. This the great awakening...and all are jot needed to raise the vibration of mother earth. We were all born for this time...here and now. The great shift/solar flash. Thank you..."rush" part IV CYgnus....the sound...I know that sound
Hear the words of Cygnus, bringing the great powers together, two in one. Great message, and harder than it sounds. Like an inner version of one of those visual '3D' puzzles, completely unintuitive.
This is true, they rehearsed it for weeks and then essentially played all of Hemispheres live on a soundstage to record the record. There are videos of them rehearsing on the soundstage for this. It's the most amazing thing about Hemispheres. It might be the best and most complex rock song of all time and they actually did this live in one take!
Part IV Cygnus is immaculate, the highest height Rush ever achieved. Lyrics, vocals, instrumental -- all perfection. Actually reminds me of 2112 Soliloquy, which may tie this for their greatest. The two are similar actually, a somber self-reflection on the state of the world -- epic philosopher king Peart the Professor. And each has a sublime Lifeson solo where the guitar actually sounds like it's speaking, begging, pleading. To me in this way his solos stand above all others.
Stories of Greek and Egyptian gods are stories of those who left their stations in heaven. They and their offspring men of renown. In heaven they know music. And those who freely chose to descend cannot die. They once fancied themselves superior. And their music beyond compare. But, they are condemned for what they once taught. And now taught again.
Still remember my high school friend Jeff trying to figure out how to play the last part of this song. He and my friends Dan and Mitch had a high school band called Intros & Buildings that played tons of Rush tunes. I had this album on tape for years from a Library Record. Must get the CD.
I ----------Very Much---------- appreciate the way you've added the lyrics to quality music. It sounds good through nice speakers. Thanks for the sacrificing the quality. Rush'N'Roll!

I always imagined Cygnus pointing down to Earth and then turning to the other gods with a look of utter disgust. The failures of Apollo and Dionysus creating doubt and fear, the shear antithesis of truth and love.
Well I'm helping my son with homework and guess what he needs lyrics that actually make bloddy sense. RUSH it is I told him crack open the dictionary so you can understand. Once again Thank you Mr. Neail Peart hope your reading this
@Silhouetto of a Man almost. It goes hemispheres then Farwell to kings then permit waves then moving pictures but we missed signals and fly by night... Hhhmm. Well they all rock. Ha. Lol
You don’t need to note in the description that you did not write this song. I’m sure everyone is aware Lee/Lifeson/Peart aren’t posting lyric videos on RUclips.
The most obvious one is the divide between the two hemispheres of the brain, with Apollo being the logical half and Dionysus the emotional/artistic one
Neil Peart's heart and mind were united in a single, perfect, sphere. Rest in Peace Sir.
Beautifully expressed. Blessings ever from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The only band that knows what time and space sound like.

Cygnus X-1 is so far up the intellectual ladder of rock and roll that only few have been able to climb up to observe it's wonder.
Armageddon is certainly the highlight of the whole piece. Both the instrumental and vocal delivery perfectly get across the chaos of the piece.
Armageddon? It's about Ballance.
Honestly not for me. I prefer the Apollo/Dionysus parts. The instrumentals and vocals through there just stun me every time I listen to it

The Lyrics have a interesting similarity of the times right now... They all tell a story to me

Thanks Geddy and Alex. Jimmy is well pleased. Go now, and serve the Lord...

Beautiful music, beautiful poetry and a beautiful woman. Ms.Vinal, you rock.
Rock + Jazz + Greek Mythology + Miguel de Cervantes = RUSH
Daniel Barbo also + Ayn Rand
don't forget about Nietzsche.
This song just blazes, lyrically and musically. Some of their best work!
That was a life changing experience!
That was incredible...
Hear the words of Cygnus, bringing the great powers together, two in one.

ok,, now,
want to have your mind REALLY blown?

one take
THE FRIST TAKE

That would certainly be impressive if at was true. Sorry to break the bread bad news but that’s not the case.
Rush is such a great band. Really makes me sad that they don't have more views. . .
Its an amazing spiritual journey
Rush is life
A friend that was madly into RUSH always said they wrote the lyrics to life. I agree and you also do I'm sure.

Pure masterpiece from the beginning to the end, final dot.
Quiet music talking about epic battles, then sudden loudness talking about sudden peace. Hmm.

Beautiful..........
Good call on that one john
I always imagined Cygnus pointing down to Earth and then turning to the other gods with a look of utter disgust. The failures of Apollo and Dionysus creating doubt and fear, the shear antithesis of truth and love.
6:57-6:59..................................my favorite Neil Peart drum fill of them all. That's the time on this video, not on the actual album side.
Masterpiece
I always thought it was "Marble white, and purest gold".
Same here.....guess we'd have to ask him
I did; he said I'm right. And that I'm the greatest person ever since Apollo.
Well then must be so.........Cygnus.
I a,ways heard pure as gold but purest gold makes more sense
wow amazing
the shier amount of references in this song is too damn high ...
thanks to you bro
Anyone interested in Dionysus should read Muraresku's The Immortality Key
let the truth of love be lighted..
Let the love of truth shine clear...
Let the love of truth shine clear..

Was any band quoted in more yearbooks in the 1980s?
still my music
Life is stranger than fiction or this song
Beside prodigal son by Keith green this is my all-time favorite song.
It looks to me Hemishpheres is the best Rush album after Presto, of course.
Sorry but I need to go with farewell to the kings as their best.
@@jensanruby6739 It goes Hemispheres, then Farewell, and then Moving Pictures.
@Silhouetto of a Man almost. It goes hemispheres then Farwell to kings then permit waves then moving pictures but we missed signals and fly by night... Hhhmm. Well they all rock. Ha. Lol
Stop #8. Rush A-Z
Did Neil write all the lyrics to this, I can only imagine Ukraine right now.
God bless Rush and Ukraine 💖💖💖💖
Thanks for watching?… Tsk, Tsk, Tsk…
"How could we not my friend, how could we not?"

True story
As great as any symphony..
How does he k now such truth. About God and his son
Who the f#:$ gave this a thumbs down..............
This song could be about a child who's parents are in a bad way... Think about it.
Or a country/world in a bad way.......I see the parallels.....pretty close to America now
The most obvious one is the divide between the two hemispheres of the brain, with Apollo being the logical half and Dionysus the emotional/artistic one
Efen masters of music!
