Last year or even 2 years ago.
The first dam was destroyed by the Ukrainians on the Dnieper River upstream of Kherson with two goals... they ruined the entire Russian defense and logistics in that sector and lowered the water level so that the Crimean watercourse dried up and Crimea was left without water again!

As a countermeasure, I recommend the large "Kyiv Sea" reservoir, upstream from the capital city of Kyiv. With a surface area of 922 square kilometers, it holds 3.73 billion cubic meters of water waiting to be released. That should be enough to cleanse the city of Kyiv of any contamination once and for all.

I find the Ukrainian claims of advances north of Pokrovsk difficult to believe, simply because they are so spectacular. Ukraine hasnt made a verifiable advance of that size for over two years. It would be a huge anomaly if they have done this and the question would need to be asked, why havent they carried out similar operations elsewhere if they are so proficient in this attack?
That said, we must be careful to have an open mind and be prepared to change it when faced with the evidence.

If Ukrainian army successfully unblocks the communication with Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad through Rodynske, is it realistic to continue the struggle instead of just evacuating their troops? They love urban defenses, and they can continue narrative about enormous Russian losses in urban combats. They could, realistically, defend the area for another few weeks, and hope that the weather gets harsher, slowing down the Russians, and preventing any large-scale operation beyond the Pokrovsk line. As far as we know, no serious defenses are built behind the Pokrovsk line.
But on cope Ukrainian sites Ukraine is winning 😂
