On August 20, 2022, speaking to the audience at the Voronezh festival "Chernozem", Alexander Vasilyev, the front man of Splean said:
"It's nice to see so many people who have managed to keep mercy, compassion and humanity. Who would not accept cruelty, violence and murders. Even major songs sound sad these black nights."
Perhaps Putin's Russia would have survived such a retort from an artist, but before singing the last song, Alexander added:
"Let us play a song which I would like to devote to such bands as Mashina Vremeni, Aquarium, Tequilajazzz, and others who had to leave the country for various reasons. We still hope that one good day everyone will come back, and we will perform here in Voronezh for you. Because we do not have other options!"[1]
Z-scum immediately reminded the band that they have never performed in the occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea.
Participation of Splean in the Voronezh music show became the last appearance of the band at any Russian concert venues. They were even cancelled for the upcoming Moscow festival, where Splean was expected to be a headliner.
