I love the 777 engine “growl” sound as much as everyone else, but the problem is that you have to be positioned in front of the engine to hear it. On the 777, that typically means sitting in first/business class which is much more expensive than main cabin or economy unless you have some status or FF points. I do try to change up my seating positions when I fly, but considering I pay for all of my flights out of pocket, I have to keep it reasonable sometimes. Now, I don’t mind paying a little extra for say Comfort Plus, Main Cabin Extra, preferred, or even Early Bird on Southwest as I’ve done many times, but those options are usually far cheaper than paying a few hundred of dollars more for first/business class!
