  • Making hummus from chickpea flour offers a remarkably affordable alternative to using whole chickpeas, significantly reducing costs while maintaining the delectable taste and nutritional benefits of this beloved Middle Eastern spread. Chickpea flour, derived from ground dried chickpeas, is generally more budget-friendly than its whole counterparts, and its versatility allows for a myriad of culinary applications beyond hummus alone. This economical choice not only stretches your culinary budget but also provides a convenient option for those seeking a cost-effective yet flavorful addition to their meals.

Aquafaba is not all sunshine and roses. There are many different opinions on this. Some people say that they release a chemical into the water that can have negative effects.

You can also cook and freeze dry your garbanzo beans and then powder them. Then it’s technically already cooked and you have INSTANT humus. Lol just another thought. I too, can just eat hummus by the bowlful. I usually keep my hummus pretty traditional, but when I do change it up, roasted carrot or roasted beet are both great (and pretty!). And even roasting your lemon before juicing it adds a subtle change of flavor. Hummus and a scrambled egg makes a simple and delicious breakfast (or anytime) taco.

i often make a kind of polenta with chick pea flour. Have also made a vegan cheese block type thing, with a lot of nutritional yeast and some kimchi liquid. It makes gorgeous vegan 'scrambled eggs' which I stumbled upon totally by accident many years back. in fact, it's my go-to flour for everything. great as a base for fruit bread with banana instead of eggs, and lots of fruit and nuts. Never thought of it for hummus though, i think i'm a bit attached to the cooked chick peas version, texture-wise, but interesting! is is maybe, very velvety?

    Leisa two questions:
    1. Where did you get your whisk - I like that it’s a “double” one? I have never seen one like that.
    2. While you were cooking it, I could see a reflection of a design of a tree and it looks really pretty. Is that your backsplash and if so, where did find that? I have some molds for glass fusing that have that design, but they are only 12” by 12”. Edit: got further i to video and see that it is your backsplash. Very pretty.
Ok miscalculated. A third question: Do you have video that talks about the different wheats. Looked at Nutrimill’s site and they had red wheat and white (both in hard and soft) and I don’t really know what each is used for or differences in baking. I know I can google for info, but prefer someone with real experience for guidance.
