ED SPOT - Venice Lions Club Vision Screening

Education Spotlight produced by The Education Channel. Featured profile on the Venice Lions Club Vision Screening program. For 3 years, every Wednesday from September to May, a three-person team from the Venice Lions Club (50 members in Venice FL) visits day care schools and early learning centers to screen students for vision problems.
Using state-of-the-art computerized equipment, the VLC has screened 2400 children to date for the six most troubling vision problems affecting children. Parents are informed of the results with either a letter telling them no problems were found, or, in about 5% of the screenings, a letter urging a follow-up with a professional, including a detailed analysis of what was found and what it means to the visual health of the child.
