Can confirm this update does not fix the issue as I just lost my wedding video because of overheating. Had it on a tripod running for max 10-15 min and damn. Friend had to restart camera a few times but won’t ever be getting that video back unfortunately once in a lifetime feel pretty ripped off having just brought this camera and it failed the worst possible time
4K, SAVC HS, manual. I didn’t open the battery or screen however as I didn’t know that trick not sure it would have helped. Oh and ofcourse I already set the overheating shutdown to high as it alerted me first day I got camera after not even recording just trying to configure settings it gets super hot which is strange would think it only overheats when recording but it’s also when just looking thru view finder and changing settings
@@jimmymedia2049 I would defo return, I have never heard of the camera overheating whilst simply changing the settings. Sounds like you might have a faulty camera. 😞
I noticed that my a6700 only overheats when the touchscreen is closed. I normally shoot 4K 60 and I haven’t had a problem with overheating if the touchscreen is swung out.
@@MiguelRojas1 if I had to guess, I would say almost 2 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever shot anything longer than that. There have been times where I’ve gotten an overheat warning, but when I open the touchscreen it goes away.
I don't even own this camera but I would never consider using it for any type of paid job, no matter what I heard someone say online. I'd have to test it multiple times in a work type environment to make sure there was no overheating issue in the time frames I need for continuous shooting. Imagine having to tell a bride that you missed recording her wedding vows because your camera got too hot and shut down. I'm sure she would be very understanding and forgiving (insert sarcastic face emoji here).
I've had the Sony a6700 for a week, I didn't leave it filming long enough until it overheated... But it heats up well... Even with this 1.03 update... I hope Sony improves this, I've already sent an email... And I also ordered the ulanzi fan
Great tutorial, thanks so much, got mine a couple of days ago, still waiting for the lens, I'm a bit reluctant to update as I saw another tutorial of a photographer that wanted to change back to the previous version, can't remember exactly why, but he said they hadn't resolved the overheating problem with this update yet. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, what are those tags you having hanging from the sides of your camera?
Look forward to your test. I've had no issues with it. However, I've also had zero overheating issues - probably because I don't attempt to record long form in 4K 120p! There is nothing in Sony's 1.02 or 1.03 release notes about improvements to overheating issues.... but who knows. Probably more important that you update your lens Sigma 55mm firmware to Ver.04 (released 2023.11.16) which actually does mention a fix specifically for the A6700 ;)
@@yearofplentyvideo Sounds like you have a problem with your specific camera. No one in the (very large) Facebook groups has ever mentioned overheating in 4K 30. Time to ask for Sony service assistance I think!
I have a fan on my camera as well. However I noticed when it hit 40C the overheat sign did not come up. I have seen improvements however I have only tested once outside.
Tests v1.03 firmware; 16Aug2024. Environment indoors at 70F. 4K overheats after 11 minutes. No matter how the LCD is positioned. 1080 does not overheat. There ARE aftermarket fans that attach where the LCD rests on the back. I have both the a6400 and a6700. Just got the a6700. One issue with the a6700 vs the a6400 is the LCD has to be sticking out to the left to use it the camera at waist level or holding it overhead; very clumsy. The a6400 LCD tilts up or down. I guess it is what it is!
if done the update now and have to say.. At first i tried the update with my fastest v90 II sd card. the update cant find the file.. Then i used an older V30 SD card and ..O wonder, it worked. Second.. i tested 4k60.. After 25 min it stopped. This is a little bit more than before. with 50fps and an ulanzi cooler it looks ok
A small suggestion. Have a spare memory card laying around just for these type of operations. No more transferring files. Though I would suggest formatting that spare card before putting the update file on it.
Thank you for the video! I updated my 𝛼6700 to version 1.03 using the Creator's App. Super easy to do. Nevertheless, I have not experienced the overheating issue with the 𝛼6700. (I've only had the camera a few weeks and have not fully challenged the camera's abilities.) FYI, a firmware update fixed my old 𝛼6300's overheating issue. Been a reliable camera since.
It does heat up in both photography and videography, but never experience overheating issues as well. Was shooting a video project under the morning sun in a tropical heat, the body felt hot but never shut down.
@@bogieman8 Yeah, I noticed the back plate of the camera getting warm, but I had the monitor swung away from the body...maybe this helps dissipate the heat. Plus, it's running on firmware version 1.03.
@@ayooluwaisaiah I don't shoot a lot of over cranked stuff. But, when I do it's in short bursts. Also, I got the 𝛼6700 as a "B" gimbal cam to compliment my FX30 which does most of the heavy video lifting. Hopefully, firmware version 1.03 fixes the overheating thing. (My 𝛼6700 came loaded with firmware 1.02 and I upgraded to 1.03 straight out of the box.)
I’m sorry but it’s more convenient just using the app from my phone. I had my firmware updated the day this update was released and it took the whole process less then 5 minutes to fully complete for me.
Why do you feel the need to apologize? You could just simply say that you'd like to contribute that it's also possible, and maybe even more convenient, to use the app from your phone. No need to be 'sorry'.
