This video was so helpful
Great video! Very informative and easy to follow. Will be trying the surger method to make spaghetti straps for leotards. Thank you :)
I'm glad it was helpful! :)
What's the width of the elastic you're using in this video?
Thank you
What are your serger settings, my serger keeps eating the beginning of the strap
Love your video! but i have a question :( If my elastic measures 0.8mm, what is the measurement of the fabric? I have tried to do it with no results u_u plsss
0.8 mm is super tiny, I think that would be elastic cord/shirring elastic rather than strap elastic... are you sure it's 0.8 mm wide? If it is, I'm not sure that this method would work for straps made with such narrow elastic since your serger stitch would likely be around 6mm wide, which is much wider than your elastic
What kind of foot did you use on your sewing machine for this process?
I just used the regular universal foot that came with my machine and I also used the built in walking foot function on my machine (IDT feed). So if your machine doesn't have the IDT feed, I would recommend a walking foot. Hope this helps!
Which method do you prefer? Also, what is that piece you used to flip it inside out?
Personally, I prefer the method where you sew it all right sides together and then flip it right sides out, I just think it's cleaner looking. But it's totally personal preference! Also, the tool I used to turn the straps right sides out is called a loop turner!
@@AdoptYourClothes elastic or no elastic?
I definitely prefer including elastic! The straps just last way longer if you include elastic and often they can get loosen/stretch out a bit when they get wet if there's no elastic
Doesn't anywhere sell a basic bunch of these already made? That seems strange, I cant see them anywhere for sale.
I'm honestly not sure, I've never tried to buy them before!
Can you show the slower video of turning the elastic sewns straps inside out please, Grasias.
I have a couple separate videos showing how I turn my straps that will hopefully help!
This one shows how I turn them with a loop turner: ruclips.net/video/p2Vt9P_HgmA/видео.html
And if you don't have a loop turner, this one shows how I turn them with a safety pin: ruclips.net/video/2GndVmomYyw/видео.html
Hi was this sewn using a coverstitch?
No, I sewed it with a double needle on my a regular sewing machine (which sews a zigzag on the back that allows it to stretch), but if you have a coverstitch you can use it instead!
@@AdoptYourClothes I have serger too which is recommended I’m new to sewing
If you have a serger I would recommend doing the method where you serge the edges right sides together, then serge the elastic into the seam and then turn it right sides out. It's a clean finish and comes together fast on a serger!
What kind of foot did you use on your serger?
I just used the regular universal foot that came with my machine. That's pretty much the only foot I use on my serger for swimwear currently!
Why don’t you fold down the raw edge in on the straps so there’s no raw edge !
You could certainly do that - it's just very difficult to do all that folding and to still get everything to lay flat and get the seams straight because the swim fabric likes to shift around! So if I were to do that, I think quickly hand basting everything together before taking it to the machine would help a ton!
