Hi after changing fuel filter on fabia 1.6L gasoline automatic transmission, car cranks but doesn't start, do you know what to do? I've cranked like 50 times already... I disconnected the fuel line under the hood at the connector (where the plastic line changes to flexible rubber hose that goes to fuel rail) and fuel came out when I cranked so the fuel at least is reaching to that point but I'm not sure how to check whether the fuel reaches the fuel rail and injectors. Could it be air that's causing the problem? And near the black fuel line there is a white line, is that some kind of fuel return line? Should a vacuum pump be used on that line that goes behind the engine?
No you don't have to bleed gasoline engines with a fuel pump, it should start almost immediately. Did you touch/disconnect/do something else besides changing the fuel filter? Are you sure your fuel pump in your tank is running? Listen for it when you turn on the ignition, also fuel should squirt out when you disconnect a line and you turn on the igniotion (or open the driver's door, some cars turn on the pump to prime the system like that). Also check if you installed the right fuel filter, some are made for certain pressures and see if it isn't turned around perhaps.
Check for the direction of flow on your filter, it could be the case that it's switched around. Then some fuel will come out but not enough, injectors only work when the pressure is right.
@@demonautomotive2726 Thanks for your reply I appreciate it. I didn't do anything else beside changing fuel filter. I hear something running when turning the ignition on, I'm almost certain that it's the fuel pump. Yeah I was surprised that no fuel came out when I disconnected the fuel line and turned on the ignition. Only when I cranked the engine fuel came out of the line. The new fuel filter looks physically the same, just some markings are different but I assume that's just from different manufacturer. I installed it in the correct orientation, it can't be installed any other way because there is two input lines and one output line and also a locating pin that ensures it's installed only the correct way. I think I will put the old filter back and see if it starts. I already blew with my mouth on the output of the old filter and black dirt came out. I may fill it with gasoline and repeat that again to make sure it's cleaner before I put it back.
@@demonautomotive2726 I filled the old filter with gasoline and blew it, more dirty gasoline came out, I did that several times until it was clean and returned the old filter and the car started first time. The new filter must somehow be not compatible and I'm not sure why. Even with the old filter or even with no filter whatsoever no fuel came out when only ignition was turned on, only when cranking the engine fuel came out so it seems like in that car no fuel should come out when ignition is turned on.
There's always a prime cycle when opening the driver's door or turning on the ignition but as I said earlier, some petrol filters and especially the VW ones work at a certain pressure and that should be correct. But that said, in your case, you probably just have bad luck and a defective filter. It happens, it sucks. Join the club:) Great story, good problem solving.
Love your comments while doing the job 😄
love the banter and talking to yourself but great video, nice and clear. Look easy cars to work on
isn't it risky to start engine without checking dipstick?
Good point, correct. I should have checked the dipstick. Whenever there is one you should check it.
Brilliant 👏
Damn I love these oil barrels :)
For the small price of 400 euros it could be yours🤣

Hi, how many kilometres has the engine ?
I think about 168.000km.
