It has to be just miserable outside in that heat! Just keep sending aid to foreign countries, 40 billion MORE just sent to Ukraine. I'm not against helping other countries but this is just crazy what is happening in our own homeland!!

We have an OPEN BORDER,too! All those poor people who were looking forward to the “Promised Land” are quickly educated as they experience living on the street.
This is what happens when America loses all it's manufacturing jobs, replaces a majority of those manufacturing jobs with lesser paying retail/service jobs & communities focus 100% on a never-ending real estate growth model. Take into account the huge corporate rental companies, lack of new affordable/regular housing that was never built over the last few decades & freezing of the federal minimum wage going on almost 20 years now. There is a documentary on RUclips that goes into great detail the vicious cycle of communities using only real estate growth as their biggest economic growth engine. It basically shows that communities that follow this path for growth has to always build more to sustain it all. Back in the 1940s through the 1970s manufacturing jobs was the backbone of American communities & housing was just seen as a need to house those workers. That is no longer the case & all these people complaining about foreign aid I guess fails to realize a good number of state & federal politicians are against federal involvement in your day to day life. So are you now in favor of federal speeding to help tackle this housing issue? If you are then vote accordingly.

I like how people actually believe that a President has control over prices like a Socialist would. There was a lot of small oil producers that had to shut down during the Pandemic & oil is traded on the futures market. Get used to gas prices going up & down the rest of the way.
In the Verde Valley, we are experiencing the working homeless. They have jobs, but they have been pushed out of housing by rising rent and rentals being turned into vacation rentals.
This happens because you got an generation that has gotten there while pulling up the ladder while parasites like Black Rock are literally sucking the blood out of the working poor and lower middle class.

No literally if ur actually friggin listening people on SSI rn get 841 a month my rent is 1056 for a one bedroom apt. I have to work around the complex 3 days a week to pay off that extra hundred plus, and still don't have money to eat

A lot of people won't stay in those homeless shelters. There's no door separating the beds. So at night they get attacked by the more aggressive people

iN aLBUQUERQUE EX CONS are housed alongside women and children. A elder I met left after she was raped. And the women tell me in order to get a cabin seperate they have to sleep w/ the mangement.
Yes, and the mental verbal abuse from others is intolerable too, which is why most people get the fuck out of there after awhile, and would rather just be alone, on the dirt. Dorms are dehumanizing, shelters are human rights violations. And the imposed religion belies a militarized prison. A few yrs ago one of the employees at CASS was demanding that homeless females perform oral sex on her or be kicked out of the shelter. Her name was Brittany, she was a security guard there...
I left Phoenix in 2015 due to facing homelessness. Two different companies laid me off in 2 yrs, both companies closed. The first layoff was that the company decided to close the entire division and the other layoff came when the company decided to close the entire department. Unemployment in AZ is 240.00 max no matter how much you made the year prior. My rent at that time was 725.00 for a 2 bdrm and I had my adult son living with me that has severe medical conditions and we had applied for SSD (2 yrs later he was denied). I donated all of our belongings to the Salvation Army and placed just clothes in my car (chevy sonic) and drove to my birth state of Ohio. My sister and brother-in-law took both my adult son and I in for 2 yrs Then wages in Ohio are terrible. To make a long story short; homelessness is not always due to alcohol or drug addiction (I don't drink or use drugs). So, until you walk in someone else's shoes please keep your comments to yourself.

I used to work at the Human Services Campus as a tier 2 security supervisor in 2020. I offered more than one news reporter in interview opportunity in regards to corruption behind the scenes. The city of Phoenix doesn’t care what happens to the homeless down there. If they did, there’s more than one solution to drastically reduce homeless. Very sad.
The city of Phoenix has gotten some money from the government for the homeless and cities across America has been given money for the homeless but using the money for the purposes is another thing. There’s big business in the homelessness where the money goes is anybody’s guess
I’ve had homeless Phoenicians say that they refuse to go to CASS because it’s more dangerous than being on the streets.

Build like trailer parks/mobile home parks. Oh yeah, investors started buying those up and now they're not affordable either. Seniors and vets should NEVER be unhoused. No person living in their car should ever have the car towed! This is terrible and needs to be fixed at the ROOT of the problem. Affordable housing for those on fixed income. My father in law had to move to Wyoming to find a bedroom to rent on SSI income and still pays more than 50% of his SSI on rent. Renting a bedroom not even a studio or anything. Its gross.

I understand that wouldn't solve the underlying issue, I was just curious. 🤷♀️ One of my biggest regrets is not having my father-in-law move in with me instead of being placed in a VA assisted living. It was after my divorce and I don't know if his son's would have allowed it, however, he was miserable at the home, and deserved much better. He died a few years ago. Some father-in-laws are amazing and a blessing to have around.

The sad thing is that this is happening everywhere. Inflation has gone up and Big Business and the government simply doesn't want to pay the difference. Both are pointing to the other. You will be lucky if you can find a full-time job that pays more than min wage.

@@MrKillswitch88 I'm a boomer and I hear you. When I graduated from college, 1979, there were good jobs with pension, 401k, Healthcare, life insurance, the works. Young people have a right to be angry, nowadays companies are horrible the way they treat workers- that's even if you can get a job with them. You are correct about this guy's sunbelt theory, I live in Buffalo, NY - it is an old rustbelt town with horrific winters. Housing prices have just about doubled. Outrageous prices of rent hikes
I have talked with several people renting apartments, each of them is paying more for rent than I am paying to own my home. A few are paying over $1,300.00 per month, this is $300.00 more than my mortgage payment!!

The word "homeless" was never a part of popular English until Reagan became President in 1980. That's when homelessness really started. That's when Reagan started to whittle away Social Programs, some of which had been around since the New Deal. Presidents after him continued this trend. Consider that the US Constitution in no way mandates that the Fed Govt is responsible for the Welfare of The People. Among the many "rights" that Americans enjoy are "the right to starve to death" and "the right to be homeless", both with no "government interference" whatsoever. FDR proposed an Economic Bill of Rights which would have guaranteed Americans such things as a job, a residence, medical care, and education. But FDR died before he could accomplish that and his successors became too involved in a Fictitious Cold War with the USSR to bother with that. This "Cold War apathy" continues today as President Brandon is sending Billions of Dollars to Ukraine as more and more Americans end up on the street. If America was a Real Democracy instead of a Wannabe Democracy controlled by Wall Street, there would be NO Homeless Problem in America Today.

Corporatism and greed - a holographic view of government?
Sociopathic boomers have created a predominantly narcissistic society that has no empathy. They form the 30% who enable the malevolent 10% aka corrupt government officials and corporate investors. Most of the boomer generation owns multiple homes and vacation properties.
The 40% younger generations are in a way forced into compliance with the perspectives of this generation or they will face discrimination. That discrimination is what results in mental illness, drug use, and homelessness. Even the cohort of the Boomer generation not willing to conform with the mob mentality is discriminated. If an individual falls into that category then they are labeled a misfit and then treated like the source of all problems.
The problem is that people are projecting their insecurities onto the marginalized people in our society because it is easier to blame them then it is to take accountability. Everyone needs love, purpose, dignity, and a career that enables them to grow and continue to be challenged. Too many employers just want cheap labor and never have any intention of sharing the wealth. They also own multiple properties which they mismanage just to keep more of the wealth.
Marginalized people then struggle with inflation and the rising cost of housing while their minimum wage pay remains static and they fall further into the category of misfit and 'society's scape goat'. As an individual struggles it becomes harder to buy new cloths, hair styles, cosmetics, shoes, food, transportation, and entertainment. This causes people struggling to fall out of social favor based on physical appearance and it makes success harder because people become judgmental.
Only we can love each other. When we do learn to talk to each other and find common ground. Then we can overcome any obstacle including a corrupted system. Because we are that system.

I had to leave Phoenix at the end of 2020 when I lost my job during covid right before my lease on my apartment was up for renewal and they refused to renew my lease without income. I found it impossible to find any place available that was affordable and not an absolute roach infested dump so I guess after 35 years of desert dwelling, I live in St. Louis now. Was either move to STL or live on the street in PHX. The fact that I've been priced out of my own home town still hurts. I can't afford to live there, and I have a college degree and I work in good paying IT jobs. I supposed it's for the best. Phoenix is completely unsustainable and I dont expect conditions in the city to ever improve and to only deteriorate further as the water and housing crisis worsens. Sad when a single person can't live in that city by themselves even on a decent wage without either living in a slum or taking in several roommates.
I lived in Saint Louis was actually going to stay but my life fell apart out there after some egotistical apartment manager harassed me into moving. Moved into my car in winter, then it broke down. I worked throughout the pandemic while my former neighbors, some of whom were also harassing me, sat around. That building was the only place I felt unsafe out there and I'd been there for years.
Now I'm back in my hometown of Denver, where it's starting to feel like I can't go anywhere without something happening to make me feel unsafe, which was one of the reasons I left in the first place. There's a very toxic element here oh and of course the cost of housing.

Absolutely True!! I would have been forced out of my home if I didn't take in 2 roommates again, to deal with my rent being raised almost $1000 since 2020. (Plus my SRP bill was $640 last month and city service water bill was $350 - but I'm not using more electricity or water this year from years in the past.)
So how can I get out of a financial rut at these prices. The cost of living here is ridiculous.
When I moved into this home in 2013 I paid $1345 for rent. Now I pay a little over $2700 for the same house. It's not worth 2700/month. I live in a crime infested neighborhood at 51st Ave & Baseline Rd, in Laveen.
Here on the regular - we have home invasions, car theft, homelessness issues, scammers and beggers, open shootings, kidnapping, missing people, vandalism, littering, porch piracy, constant theft & muggers, open drug use in all the store parking lots and bus stops, robberies, murderers & killers, and there is 4 or more dead people found at the trail heads, in the streets, in the parking lots, etc each month.
It's absolutely crazy here and you don't really know it unless you live here and see it/live it for yourself. Yet, my rent keeps rising. So I can't even move out to get away because I'm caught in a financial trap and barely getting by as it is.
I don't want to leave Phoenix - my family and friends are here...
But if it comes down to keeping a roof over my head and keeping myself physically safe - then I won't see no choice but to leave this state too.
I've watched Phoenix change for the worse over the last 40+ years, but this is absolutely the worst I've ever seen it - so far.
SMH - Very Sad, it was once a great place to live. Now I'm finding less reasons to say that and even lesser reasons to want to stay.

I stayed at C.A.S.S. part of a night. I was robbed at knife point. I actually left the same night. I moved into my van. Sleep well now. That was 2007. It's now 2022.
How are these people able to live on the streets when it’s so freaking hot?! I lived in Scottsdale and the heat was so unbearable it motivated me to move out of that state forever.

Lisa glow tried to ban Phoenix Ashes from their area. She seems to be driving a brand new Mercedes every year. Lisa glow uses a lot of money meant for the homeless on her own personal house and vehicles.
This is why there needs to be a national answer, not just where the people flock to-or are sent to! One part needs to be free managed camping with utilities for those with rvs, many of which function as a home but no longer run.
The report reflects well on Phoenix and how it has responded. First time I have seen clean washroom facilities like that.

If not working for the helpers how about put them on the side of the road cleaning. They give them food and shelter so why not let them earn the food and shelter?? And all the other services they are getting for free.

An answer that I believe could work. For everyone charged with non violent crimes be given a choice of doing time in jail or working on helping the homeless efforts. They have used them to help with abandoned dogs with great success. I believe they would have the greatest empathy for these people and it would be win win .
Your idea has some merit, but the people who are charged with a non-violent crime would have to be screened further. If you are going to work with the homeless, you must be sober, not addicted to drugs, and be mentally fit. If you meet these criteria, then yeah, it might work.
I think it's a good idea to have an alternative to jail for non-violent offenders, but forcing people to work like that is borderline slavery unless they're also getting paid for it.
CASS has received over 5 million dollars alone this year. They have not done anything with it.

Homelessness is not new. And after the unprecedented 2 years that we are just starting to recover from it should be obvious that more are becoming homeless than ever. Working programs are long overdue.

That hold on rent did no favors for people because people were getting unemployment and didn't spend 1 cent on rent. There are going to be more and more homeless people. The smarter people atleast paid what they could and will be able to pay rent, and a 100 dollars more to catch up, others paid nothing for months and won't be able to make it up.
Your "working programs" will never take the homeless off the street faster than our irresponsible population can put them there. Homelessness is more of an education failure than an economic failure.
I really feel like the housing crisis is the root cause of all of this. Hell, I have a college degree and work in IT and I still got priced out of Phoenix in 2020 and had to move to St. Louis. In 2015 I was paying $750/month for a two bedroom apartment. In 2020, the apartment I left was $1025/month for a 1 bedroom and they wanted to renew that lease even higher at $1200.

@@duancoviero9759 I would if it wasn’t true. The Arizona market has been killed by two primary things. Corporations, and people fleeing expensive democrat states with high taxes to come to az for housing that’s half the price with lower taxes.
It makes sense. If you can buy a nice home in Arizona for 300k and a crappy to modest house in cali is over 500k of course you could move. And it’s more and more enticing the more expensive your home is in Cali bc it gives you more and more profit while still getting the same if not nicer home in az.

You are not save anywhere as a renter. Years of blaming San Francisco for rent control. Then landlords found loopholes
to get around rent control and pushing seniors into streets for the Ellis act. Rent are so high there is no way
a senior or school teacher, student, single mom, or almost anyone can pay rent. It"s now happening around
the country.
What's sad is that because of supply and demand, and the fact that there are still people who can and will pay those rents, they're only going to keep increasing until either A.) Cities stop developers from building nothing but luxury apartments and finally increase the stock of affordable apartments, or B) Rent finally gets so high that literally no one can pay and everyone is homeless.
It’s everywhere our rent went up $300 more in Tennessee now it $1400. Not much left for anything. Senior citizen
My girlfriend pays over $2k/month for her 738 sf apartment. Unreal.
Fortunately for her she makes good money working in IT, but you can see
why there are so many homeless. Greedy landlords and property
management companies. Period. Perfect example; before I bought my
condo in 2015, I was paying $675 for a 750sf 1 bdrm in NORTH SCOTTSDALE.
I decided to buy because they were going to bump my rent to $900, and I
thought that was ridiculous. Little did I know I seriously dodged a
bullet. That same apartment is now $1800+. Did their expenses nearly
triple? I don't think so. Greed. Plain and simple.
So they can charge that and get it because there are plenty of people making good money there.

Good people give tons of money that never makes it to the homeless. The advocates are in the business of collecting revenue meant for the homeless keeping it under 1 roof spending on themselves, right here in front of us. Same thing happens in my community in Florida. and the State of Arizona gave another 28 million to the Sprung structure, and they only have 100 beds, and none of them are in use?

I know the facts. There are so many stories out there on the streets. Could be anyone. Could be me or you.
However there are so many mentally ill, self medicating.
Drinking, drugs can cause a trigger, or episode in which someone can get hurt.
It is insane that so many people are having to be in a war zone always worrying, always on guard.
We as a community need to stand up.
Look a lot of these people have worked hard. They have no families, friends. They have no resources.
Why are we leaving these members of the human race lay out in the streets of a huge city like stray dogs.
But most would house a stray dog before coming up w solutions for housing their fellow man or woman.
There needs to be more of this thinking and doing.
It's not going away.
How about some goals. And start moving forward. No one wins this way Phoenix no one.
I so appreciate this channels reporting on things that matter.
Would love to see more big real estate, big business helping the homeless in Phoenix. Giving back to the communities that support them by housing the less fortunate.
Come on we can afford to house these people and better our community all around.
Safety, cleanliness, appearance could go on w the list of reasons to do it.
Inspiring, uplifting, educating, holding up to some goals for those on the streets could literally save and change lives.
We need to rethink the way we treat each other. Be kind to each other people.

Landlords should feel ashamed of themselves, hiking rent up 50-100% and people on fixed income can't afford it, schitt, most of us hanging on by the skin of our teeth are becoming homeless and blue collar people are the new "living on the edge of poverty"

I cry everyday missing my fanily everyday and missing what our family life was like being together and our family went to our family church everysunday and i miss the home we owned. And I pray daily asking God for his protction and to watch over my kids and to keep me and my fiance her and me and our small fury family member of ours safe from harms ways and can one day get to rent a smalk safe place or RV park that will be willing to allow to rent us an RV space each month but no RV parks dont rent to anyone that owns a class A motorhome at all they only allow in their RV parks only class A motorhomes ONLY to be renting in their RV parks and we ask for you to please pray for us AMEN and thank you for your prayers and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILYS

The _Bathroom_ cost $35,000 and the _Services Office_ costs $9,000. So for only $81,000 a city can establish a *homeless village.* The 10'X10' *Camping Cube Sport Pop Up Tent* costs only $120 and provides protection from the elements.
Hiring more staff for these facilities isn’t going to help. Every time you hire someone their is less money to actually house someone. The money well isn’t endless. You are better off paying market rate rent with private apartment then spending all this money on facilities that are just temporary. Did you see that center, that cost maybe $10mm+. That could house 100+ people for 5 years. Some people will never accept help but if you had more subsidized housing with fewer hurdles you would help more people faster. Yes private landlord will take these individuals if the city is guaranteeing the rent. What they are doing clearly isn’t working
They have to guarantee rent, have insurance in case of damage, and a tight control on trouble makers that get kicked out immediately/ arrested, and go in a data base.

Progress Residential raised my rent from $1781 to $2502 during the summer of 2020.
Then Streetlane Homes bought this property, I'm renting, back last Dec 2021 and they just raised my rent another $300 this summer of 2022.
I'm lucky not to be homeless yet.
I've lived in this home since 2013 and it has been nothing but a financial trap since the first year I moved in, when my rent started out at $1345.
I'm hoping that I can buy a house next summer before I can't afford my rent anymore.
I moved to Arizona in 1981 & I have never seen Phoenix this bad with the economy totally flip flopped & people becoming homeless - moving in with other family, friends or renting rooms if they can... or homeless on the streets. Very Sad.
It is skid row. Affordable housing doesn't exist until you contract it out, or you build it.
Then there’s the problem at the border. Where will they live?

Just until the all water is gone from the rivers and wells of Arizona. Maybe they will have to ask the nomadic people from the Sahara to come and teach Americans how to survive homelessness in a desert.
Just look at Arizona history, the Indian tribe that had a thriving community in the area and then they just all of a sudden left (I used to know her name but I don't remember anymore it's been a while)
What is the rental vacancy rate there? In most cities, it is very low, below 4%. That is why rents are rising. The problem isn't just a lack of affordable housing, it is a lack of housing period. The population keeps growing but new housing units are not growing at the same rate.

What Neal said. All the Californians, Floridians, and Ohioans are moving here in droves. Root causes to homelessness are complex and interlinked. I don't want to pretend as if I fully understand them, but I do think there are a few fixable factors that would help a lot:
1.) Code building requirements for new homes and apartments have shifted over the decades to be far less concerned with services and safety, and are hidden ways of making home building costs and housing values tremendously expensive. The codes favor large, identical cookie-cutter homes on tiny lots with no neighborhood feel. Even if someone in Phoenix gave you a 7500 sqft land plot for free, you couldn't build a code-approved home of any size for less than ~$275,000, which is batshit crazy. Alternative buildings like tiny homes, pre-fabricated homes, and container homes are very difficult to get past the code enforcers, even in hip Sunnyslope.
2.) Too much brownfield land is zoned for commercial only. There is a SHIT TON of blank land spread throughout the Phoenix Valley. Unfortunately, it's zoned wrongly.
3.) People who own homes increasing by double-digits % year over year, are not interested in having more housing added to their neighborhood, because it would depress their land wealth and increase their taxes. The haves do not want to help the have-nots. I'll be honest here, I do own a home that went up 72% from 2017 to today, in a half-decade. It's effing crazy. My neighborhood is fully built up though, and there really isn't anywhere to add more housing, unless they rezoned and converted homes to multi-family housing. Not gonna happen in this HOA, and I don't see it happening. My increase of home value really doesn't do anything positive for me except increase my paper wealth. It does NOT increase my real wealth in any way because if I wanted to 'cash out', then I'd just be faced with buying yet another over-priced replacement home, unless I were willing to live in the boonies (I am not) or renting from someone else in an over-priced market. Thus, even though I am 'one of the problems', I can't do anything to change it.
4.) Social breakdown, broken families on the edge, drug and alcohol abuse...not sure even where to start. It's complicated. People have it rough. They need love and understanding. Let's all just STOP JUDGING, yeah? I've hired ex-cons with drug problems as handymen to help fix up stuff around my property. They did great work and were always fair; just super flaky. It took a month to do what a professional could have done in 4 days. It takes patience to be kind to these people. I just wish more of us would try. With more cash in their pockets from useful, productive work they can feel good about earning, it can help them in time. I just think we should have more free counseling, less judgementalism, and more open willingness to help others without feeling embarrassed. I think more people would like to help, but fear being robbed. Maybe we need a volunteer group to facilitate better and more direct family-to-family help. Like, they could provide oversight and insurance for the workmanship and help with basic skills training. Handymen and yard care will always be needed.
How does the population keep growing when the birth rate is the lowest it has ever been?

It's the mentality of the US citizen that has to change. Not generalising but most US citizens i have met have a 'Me,Myself and i' attitude. Most probably think 'Get a job' 'Sort out your issues' , It's not that easy. I'm from Europe , Here we put money into welfare funds through our taxes and were all happy to do that simply because for one we care and two we don't have this problem. We pay taxes and get lots in return, I think the states pay taxes and get very little put back into the community to help people. It comes down to how you treat people initually and get away from 'Screw them'... Just a observation...

I'm on social security and money was really tight before the hike.
I moved into my car Oct 2020 and left Arizona. For cooler states.
Now with the gas hikes I barely get by.
May as well wait til winter and go freeze to death. Maybe Phoenix and bake to death.
Government isn't going to do anything about housing. They want us to die. Between the clot shot and prices of everything. They are moving right along. Just not as fast as they thought.
Really sad that our states and federal government has all the millions of surplus money 🤑 but fail terribly in taking care of us, whether it's this housing need or sending millions to foreign country over taxpayers, veterans, Frontline health workers. Those in charge should be ashamed and held accountable. Our citizens are suffering more now because of the pandemic destruction of our country.

So for only $201,000 [$120 tents] a city can establish and run a *Homeless Shelter Village* with 1000 shelters that can accommodate 4,000 beds!
CASS is the problem. We need to stop giving them money every year. Phoenix Ashes can end homelessness in Phoenix with less than half of what CASS has received in just this year. Let’s not give Lisa Glow a new Mercedes and let’s actually think of the homeless

Wages did not keep up with rental needs or costs, then you added loss jobs while lying about companies needing employees, you can apply all you want you never hear back from anyone cause shortages aren't there or you are looking at companies that dont treat employees right or the low pay is not what people will sacrifice for overworking beyond their ability. This is a very easy fix no one will do and you dont stick people homeless who merely cant make enough for rent with those who have serious drug, alcohol or violent issues its fully shameful. All they need to do is stop disallowing land to have affordable housing communities as rentals have been abusing their power for a very long time and at times like these they should NOT demand potential renters to have to prove three times their income in order to rent if they can produce the monthly rent and have limited income, again, shame on you as years ago all you had to do is pay rent on time. Be nice to see a bigshot investor allow people to buy a few acres of land for cheap dome homes or tiny homes that have payment plans that work for limited SINGLE income as we dont have dual couple incomes to allow us housing costs that are the same as a couple! Years ago a single person paid half the rent of a couple, now they charge the same and its total crap in a bad economy to boot. I live in tempe and my rent going up by $300 and I can't afford that im a single father my child only 15 im not sure what to do when my new lease expires in July. Most places rent to high even in ghetto part of towns.. crazy
Doug,Idk if its feasible $wise to move,but the midwest is way cheaper we pay $500 rent 3 bedroom 2 bathroom, electric and water @$150,propane in the winter is contracted for $150/month.

They used that hotel back in 2020 for senior homeless and “at risk”. It’s a good start but how many other buildings can the city actually renovate and DONATE to end homelessness?
I was born in the USA I lived in Mexico they got classes for women to teach them when to get pregnant what buildings to go to get most free stuff they tell you what state to go how to fill up the application so you can get more money these are schools in Mexico
P *3 of 4* Those with income pay rent which is 10% of their net income to the homeless-village for their 2 person _Shelter 64;_ and 20% of their net income as rent for the 4 person _Shelter 100._ Their rent money goes to pay for: *childcare for working parents,* one free meal per day, and addiction services; in the community-room.

I wonder if the increase in rents is partly due to globalization and economic specialization. As people move to an area that has specialized in an economic niche, they drive up rents, as well as the cost of living, increasing the number of homeless residents. The problem with the trend is that the larger such cities become, the more they become dependent upon outside trade to maintain wealth and standard of living. In other words, complex, fragile globalized supply chains.
They don't build affordable housing in Phoenix. Before I left in 2020, every time I would drive by a construction site, the sign would always read: "COMING SOON!!! LUXURY APARTMENT LIVING!!! STARTING AT $2K/MONTH!!!"

What happened to the HUD program??? In Apache Junction they're trying to push the low income people out . I heard that a mobile home park got sold and the new owners change the rent from $400 a month to $1000. I am guessing it is to get the low income to move out.
I’m in the SF Bay Area. 20min from SF. My rent in 2018 when I moved to my 2 bed home was $1750. Now 2022, I pay $2,450. I still make the same amt of money at my job and back in 2018 I barely made the application process for my income in order to pay the $1750!!! It’s insane that people are expected to make ends meet when landlords can up the rent yearly, meanwhile, our income stays the same.. Oh and let’s also keep in mind California completely shut down for about a Year, so I had to use unemployment and my landlord STILL upped my rent every single year!!! I am a single mom of 2 teen boys. I get $200 total per month in child support (because I technically make more money then my Ex and I have my kids full time). The way California decides child support is ridiculous!!

Or the _Shelter 100_ is a $9,500 shelter that is climate controlled, built in one hour, is 100 sq. ft., and uses a folding bunk system to house up to four beds. *_Pallet Shelter's_* private sleeping cabins offer *security* and durability. Which addresses the concerns of the homeless who reject the restrictions of “bed-only” homeless-shelters; for only one night.
So, what ever hapoened to the whole mini-housing programs??? Just a little space for a person 2 be out of the weather, safe, able to do simple cooking of food
