    Really digging this style of video. The going through some of your personal arrows and their numbers, but also jumping back and forth to instructional fletching... I like it dude. One of my favorite videos yet. Thanks

    I think you did a pretty good job talking about the financial side of things. Most of us probably buy affordable factory pre fletched arrows and $40-50 3/pack broad heads. But most of us aren’t able to go into the mountains chasing elk every year. Keep it up.

    • @TheWVgoodguy22
      @TheWVgoodguy22 2 года назад +1

      Yep true story. This is the first year that I am going to try and build my own arrows instead of just buying factory pre fletched with straight blazer 2” vanes.

    • @bradythayer7789
      @bradythayer7789 2 года назад

      Last year I hunted with pre fletched pre cut 29” Walmart arrows and broadheads that my buddy had extra packs of, that he no longer used. Still put that arrow through a cow elk. You don’t need 100$ broadheads get what you can afford and focus on form and tuning it.

    • @rockylopez3017
      @rockylopez3017 2 года назад

      @@bradythayer7789 to each there own, but i like to know what im using is going to get the job done and not fail. Plus those $100 broad-heads are warrantied, if a bend or break happens iron will will replace those for you. From what i learned iron will spends a lot of time testing their materials and that makes for one tough broad head.

    • @bradythayer7789
      @bradythayer7789 2 года назад +5

      Yeah I was just stating that if you can’t afford iron will there are still options and plenty of them out there that will put down game. Also my friend has iron will’s and he pulled a shot and lost it they didn’t warranty that, so it’s not a guarantee they’re giving you lifetime free replacements. Also he had to buy different arrows to tune the iron wills because he was underspined for them so that’s another 100$. I’m just saying someone on a tight budget can still get a used bow, pre fletched arrows, and some muzzy mx-4’s and go put an elk down. Practice is more important than how many thousand dollars your setup is.

    Pro Tip: A q-tip will fit between the jig arms so you can wipe excess glue from the side of the vane before it gets a chance to set.
    No elk tag for me this year, but I'll be after whitetails, black bear, and hogs here in Georgia this fall/winter. I like standard shafts and standard inserts so I'm going with the Victory VF TKO with a 50 grain Ethics insert and 125 grain heads. I shot two deer with QAD Exodus last year, this year I will have Tooth of the Arrow solids (1" and XL) in my quiver, as well as a Grim Reaper pro 1-3/16 mech and a Sevr 1.5
    470 grains at 15% FOC going about 280 FPS.

I am pumped about these new arrows,and at 301 fps I'm sure they will pack a punch. I have a lot of help having a 31 inch draw length and shooting 73lbs. Broad heads are now down to two for me. Iron Will and the QAD swept, 125 in both. QAD is back up that I have my grandboys using and incase something happens to my iron wills ( lost or misplaced in air port etc.). X impact 250 31 inch draw, 30 inch arrow 18.2 FOC 510g, 270 fps. Im old so I'm done with my many yr experiment with arrows /broad heads 😎. Just a little note at 75 yrs old I've been WO running, backpacking since I was in my early 20s, none stop. Your on the right track for bow hunting at my age. Don't stop period. Enjoyed video

    It’s cool to have options. I didn’t skimp on my bow set up and arrows are no exception. That’s what I like about Ranch Fairy’s arrow kit from Sirius. You’re able to fined out what spine, weight, and FOC shoot best from your bow without breaking the bank.

    Nice quick video of your potential arsenal for elk and pronghorn hunts this year. I look forward to watching your future testing of these arrow and broadhead setups.
    I myself want to finally build my own arrows (albeit for whitetail deer 🦌, but I know that they would crush elk when I finally am able to get a tag 🏷) . So I am actually looking at the Victory ✌🏻 RIP TKO Gamers in 300 spine which are 8.8 gpi and a big drop in gpi from my Carbon Xpress at 11.25 gpi. I have a draw weight of 65 lbs and a 29.5 draw length. I bought a 100 pack of the DCA Custom Super Sabre vanes that I am excited to try. I will offset them 1 or 2 degree left. Not sure on broadhead yet. Shooting for between 475 and 515 grains and a 15 % FOC.
    I built some Vector arrows for fun and the HMRs have me at 510 grain and the ZMR at 465 with a 125 grain head and 4 fletch.
    Side note that whitetail/coues with the hat 🧢 is as HEAVY as the arrows that Ranch Fairy sent you.

    So on your 2021 vid broad head for elk, you mentioned that iron will did not leave a blood trail like the micro hades, were you referring to the double beveled iron will solid or was that the single bevel. just asking because that single bevel tore that bear up and i am really interested in using the single bevel this year for elk.
