  • Our visual students are the ones who remember what they see (more than they do by hearing). They also respond to color and tone, to pictures and visual information when they study and learn. Some visual learners have photographic memories or can visualize information after seeing it.
For something to really sink in, they need to be able to see it - or at least visualize it in their mind. Visual learners can learn best through written language and are good at writing and following directions, or they find it easier to learn through charts, diagrams, pictures, and videos.
Strategies to help visual learners succeed:
    - color code
    - let them have their piles
    - use timers
    - teach keyboarding/typing
    - teach uppercase first
    - organize notes
    - study graphics and pictures along with the text
    - watch documentaries and videos
    - sit at the front and look at the teacher
    - use flashcards
    - use concept maps
    - have eyes tested regularly

My child is a visual leaner, in grade 5, she hates to read but can read well she doesn’t like to take a book, but looks at lots of documentaries.

Watching documentaries is a good way to go. Hopefully one day she will like to read but until then, there is so much she can learn from watching!

@@LearningLifeMB thanks, but as a parent you get worried, because she can’t sit still in class, so I put her in activities like swimming, music, arts.what ever is creative. She is 10 and that’s my fear, her leaning style, until I learnt about visual learning.

@@pauchajoseph7769 I get that. As a parent you do worry - a lot. But you are doing a great job with different activities and it sounds like you are enriching her life in so many ways. Sitting still in class is so hard for any child, especially when they do need to move. One of my daughters is a kinesthetic learner so sitting still is like torture to her. She wants to touch, to manipulate, to move. She learns best when moving. All the best with your daughter! Keep up the good work!
