Afzal Ahsan Randhawa was a Pakistani Punjabi language writer, poet, translator, playwright and a politician. He was a great crusader of Punjabi. He wrote many novels, short stories and poems in the language. Randhawa was the last great Punjabi writer and with his departure, Punjabi has become poorer. Afzal Ahsan Randhawa was born in Amritsar, Punjab, on 1 September 1937. He died on the evening of 18 September 2017, in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
