- How to setup the picamera and take a picture with it using bash commands!
This video is part of a series of building a practically 'useful' security system using Raspberry Pi to catch the Cookie Thief. I am not a computer scientist, software engineer, programmer or electrical engineer. Everything I cover was self taught using resources I found on the web. I thought it would be great to put together a series of videos that consolidates what I have learned to yield a single resource to cover many interesting topics about the Raspberry Pi! Having said that, due to my relatively little experience, I may have made mistakes or could have done certain things better. If you are aware of such a mistake, please let me know either in the comments or through email!

How can I tell which way the cable goes in without looking it up every time? I can't see the trace on the inside of the socket to tell which side has the metal contacts. And I can't just try both ways because at the moment, I can't actually get the thing to work. I want to know it's in right so while I'm troubleshooting, what I'm doing might actually solve the problem.

can i use any camera module with a raspberrry pi or can i only use the camera thats built for the raspberry pi?
I have the same question :/ did you find an answer? i think that we only have two choices,to use a usb webcam camera or to use the picamera,but if u need to detect motion too u have no choice u should use picamera

if you have a breadboard and jumpers you can use just about anything.. and once the concept is proven to work build a small circuit board for it and there ya go.. you can do it.. it is not as hard as you think..
Hi,Alex nice work. One problem that I am facing is how to connect a raspberry pi to a PC running Ubuntu using VNC.(How do I find the IP address of my PI?) I guess I need to set up a static IP for both my PC and Pi. I tried looking up on the net, but I couldn't get it to work. Could you share some resources. A link or a perhaps a video will be of great help.
Is there any way to make this raspi with the camera as a review camera that shows live feed on the lcd?
How would you setup a default image and video storage folder instead of always going to the folder before executing the commands?

i cant enable the camera, everytime i enable it and it says enabled , after restart it goes disabled , i tried with the gui interface disktop and with code ! still not working , i reconnect the camera i changed the cable and i changed the camera it self still not working !!

Yes, but for that you need cameras with usb
