Hello are you interested in playing Heavy Weapon 2.0,a mod I've made where all the enemies' armor are halved but the campaign waves are chaotic like in survival mode (To simulate what it would be like if you've survived so far that your tank's guns become that OP)
It's a strategy. I only aim to get 100% if I predict correctly that the next wave is a tough wave that regular firepower can't get me through. That way I can slowly use the megalaser to stall out that wave. With proper use of megalaser I can last an extra 30 seconds that way and that wave will, or nearly pass by and I just pick off the remaining enemies easily. When I predict wrong, as seen around the 14th minute mark, I use the megalaser as fast as possible so that I can get to stockpile it again from the beginning. There is no point using it slowly in a wave of enemies that I can handle easily. If the next wave is hard then I just made a mistake and will have to use a nuke. With experience in the game and past the 13th minute mark on screen you can kinda sense if a dangerous combo will come next although of course it's just intuition. Depends on your skills or confidence if you can handle certain waves without having to use nuke or megalaser as well. It's not only when you use the megalaser but HOW you use it that matters as well. As time racks up and up each time I use it I am able to drag out the fight and last a lot longer than I "should" sometimes. If I I in the middle of a hard wave I also hope to get to 100% megalaser so I try to kill as many enemies as possible, like around the 17th minute with those helicopters, tanks and war blimps. However this is only used if I am near the 100%, like at least 50% to megalaser. Otherwise I will just stall for a bit, to train my skills for that specific wave, and then nuke. If I am able to snipe a megalaser that helps me through that wave as well so I get to delay nuking. I also try to time if the ally helicopter drops upgrades or protection for me to use nuke and megalaser accordingly. If possible, I use megalaser after the ally helicopter drops something so when I'm done with laser-ing, the ally helicopter will show up again right after. So basically a megalaser is an extra nuke for me so I have to use it wisely in a game mode where it's endless and things aren't fair for players.
Also, whether it's nuking or megalaser-ing, unless it's a tough wave, I stop nuking or using laser when it's the last 15 or 20 seconds to the next minute. This is because during this time the ally helicopter will drop shields or nukes for me as well and using megalaser during this time (unless forced to) will skip the opportunity to refill nukes and defenses. At the start of each minute the ally will drop gun power up, speed boost, other weapon upgrades so unless I got all of these things the shield and missing nukes won't come for me
@@themobius5798 well, the survival mode itself is RNG-filled, where it is possible to get a game over after 13 minutes or less if the same impossible wave comes out until there are no nukes or shield left, or... players can get lucky and survive near 20 minutes or more with more manageable waves. As such, this is purely an intuitive calculation. However, the more skills a player has the less they have to predict nuking. This is because they can handle waves that other players cannot. Statistically speaking, there are a total of a few dozen wave combos, and depending on player skills how often they will have to nuke. At certain times, a tough wave will come out right after it just got nuked. Or, it can randomly show up after some minutes of easier waves. Now, there are certain ways to handle the incoming tough waves. First, I will see how long I can stall it out. The reason for stalling is to wait for the ally helicopter to drop nukes or shields, or for the megalaser to reach 100%. If it's some combo of blimp + one shotters like the satellites, or bulldozers + atomic bombers then usually I just nuke right away. I can't really stall because they cover up each other. With that said, predictions can totally go wrong, as I messed that up in the 14th minute.
@@anthonybirkins6175 Hello since you're one of the few people I found still playing this game and knows alot about the game are you interested in my Heavy Tank mod where the level 19 campaign waves are like the ones in the 38 minute mark of 4 players survival mode?
Which plane are you referring to? There is no such plane called Zeppelin. But I seem to guess you're referring to 11:19 where there are assault helicopters and bulldozer? The thing is that there are 2 different types of assault helicopters in the game and they make a huge difference in survival mode. Grakin (brown/reddish) ones are easier to handle as you can see in even 16:50 where there was loads of them but they are easy to shoot down. Mokum assault helicopters on the other hand (dark green) are much tankier and harder to shoot down - watch around the 21st minute you will see how disgusting that crowd fires missiles. These have quite faster firing rate than Grakin type. So back to your question if it's the combo of Grakin and Bulldozer then yes you can somewhat prioritize bulldozer, not letting it cross half your screen while at the same time shoot down some of the planes. You have to do both at the same time as you survive longer and things get more packed on screen. For Mokum helicopters it's a totally different issue when combined with Bulldozer. You would have to aim your firing cannon so that you create a 45-60 degree with the ground level. At this point you have to fight both enemies at the same time because if the Mokum helicopters are untouched they will pile up on you (especially after the 13th minute) and their missiles can overwhelm you. Remember that bulldozer takes even more damage when get closer to you when you have flak cannon upgrade. The burst damage from flak cannon can kill it much faster if it gets close enough so sometimes you have to allow the bulldozer to get close to you as you deal with the helicopters. That's only 2 types of enemies on screen. The third type of enemy can dictate whether you should shoot out that combo or just straight up nuke and hope for other easier combos. If it's like Czerk light helicopter (one that shoots a single purple energy ball wherever you are), another helicopter, Lingrad tank, or the reflex fighter (plane that is protected by a purple shield and shoots energy balls when you shoot its shield and fires missiles), or even war blimps then it'll be very difficult. If it's other small planes that drop dumb bombs or certain jet fighters then it'll be doable at least in the first 12 minutes. Remember it's survival mode so any combo is possible (except bulldozer + Romanov satellite + havanski atomic bomber combo as I have never seen it). Thanks though.
@@anthonybirkins6175 Thanks for the detailed reply. By Zeppelins I mean the large airships that produce pink dots when you shoot them. When these appear with bulldozers later on you can ignore the airships to minimize the amount of pink bullets on screen by firing just a little at the bulldozer?, thus pushing it back. However this impacts on your score.
@@JaYb97716 I see. I kind of guessed it right then, after looking at it again some time later this morning. Those are called War Blimps. These are annoying when they fly in big packs, dropping a boat load of dumb bombs forcing you to shoot them. Shooting the bombs in the process also shoots down some of the Blimps, causing a rain of purple energy balls. Assuming they couple with bulldozers then my strategy is just to keep a safe distance with bulldozer while shooting some of the dumb bombs to create a safe zone and protect my own shield. When it's like below 14 minutes on screen I can afford to shoot both of them, bulldozer and as many Blimps as possible to gain the 100% megalaser thing. When I get past 13 minutes on screen I know that I need to collect as many 25% laser pieces as possible to get a megalaser ready for a potentially next tough combo. The common combo seems to be bulldozer, blimps and jet fighter (shooting purple energy balls diagonally and then fly horizontally). This combo is oftentimes doable but requires strong attention after 15 minutes surviving on screen. If it's any other stuff like tanks, or even Romanov satellite then yeah, it's a shitshow real quick. The point of survival mode is to kill as many enemies as possible when necessary (when low on shield and nukes you need mega laser to stall past a tough combo and if you use megalaser carefully that gives you an extra 30 seconds of surviving, enough to outlast that tough enemy combo). Not about killing blindly as many as possible. For the case of war Blimps you are never gonna be able to kill all of them on screen when there are like 20 of them floating on screen past 20th minute. So killing them by choice to not corner yourself with the exploding energy balls is a good idea. I usually prefer the left screen with some movements around to not die in a corner. Whether my score is affected or not largely depends on how I play, how much defense I have at hand (shield/nuke etc) and how many tough enemy combos go out. Scores don't matter here what matters is how long I last. That's the whole point of endless survival mode.
@@anthonybirkins6175 Ahh yes. Blimps. I forgot their name. In fact I didnt know the enemies in this game had official names. What are the name of the white rockets that come down across the screen vertically? That reminds me, years ago I was playing with my friend on XBLA (he survived 59:59 in Arms Race solo, attempting to die purposefully on 1 hour) in coop and he mentioned that depending on when these rockets first appear results in an easier or harder game later on. For example if they appear between 3 and 4 minutes the game will be much harder to survive when you reach the "loop" patterns at say 18minutes+. But if they appear between 4 and 5 minutes you will get the easiest possible patterns at this time. I think I got those patterns once and my best time is just over 27 minutes on Xbla. But I am well out of practice and would like to get back into it.(if my reactions can keep up now 14 years later ha)

Its so good to see a pro player playing this game, also yea i use your same strat with the megalazer, it helped a lot and i reached 16:36
12:39 saved by defense orb
Anthony Birkins II
22 Minutes and 29 Seconds
Cause of death: Didn't turn on the music (unbased) and got vibe checked by the shielded fighters
Highest I’ve made was 13:34 minutes by myself on the 360 version. Then again, in the 360 version, you get 3 chances in Survival instead of 1.
I'd be wetting my pants at 21:32. My brain still don't understand how do you managed to save 3 nukes at that point after Satellite Laser Spam.
fabulous job bro
