Truman did a fantastic job after taking over from Jan Hammer. Both have very distinctive sounds and characteristics and both have our great appreciation for their contributions to the greatest show of all time :)
Mike Hawk I agree, both had their different sounds and keyboarding skills but in my mind lended equally haunting backgrounds to the show. I have found more of Jan Hammer's music than Truman's, but Truman did an excellent job on Season 5.
Fucking LOVE this track! I didn't think that Jan Hammer's feel could be matched, but Tim Truman did and made it his own and I love both composers. The music they made, made the show what it was.
This is in fact a longer version of the song and it's repeated once. This song lasts for about 4 minutes. The other versions on RUclips are about two and half minutes long only. But anyway: awesome!
Tim we chatted ages ago on MySpace 9 years ago you said at time you were hopeful that you could put all your vice music out then it didn't happen. Man if i could just get the cell within music man that would be amazing. Can't even understand to this day unless you sold the rights to Universal as to why you cant release your Miami Vice music
They dont make actors like Don Johnson and PMT anymore either. If one or the other wasn't in Miami Vice, it wouldn't have been the excellent show it was. And if Michael Mann hadnt been in charge, who knows. Almost 40 years since the premiere and the show is still loved and talked about. Do you think anyone will be talking about The Bachelor 40 years from now?
Actually, even the 4 minutes has just been rather crudely edited so that the beginning sections are just repeated to make a longer track. The music as Tim Truman wrote it was only ever two and a half minutes. Still, my one of my favourite tracks from Miami Vice.
