  • I think, like a lot of people, I first heard Let Go by Frou Frou at the end of Garden State. I always really liked the song, especially the bass part, and while looking through my music library for what to learn next, I stopped at this one.
I kept going back and forth on whether to play the main bass part as eighth notes or sixteenth notes. It turns out that playing sixteenth notes that fast for that long just wasn't in the cards, I couldn't get it to sound very good.
If you're watching this to learn it, just a heads up, I'm playing it in drop D.

Cool to hear the bass accentuated. Good work! That chorus is tasty.

Are you using any effects to get the same bass sound in the song?

I'm using some EQ plugins (Pultec EQP-1A, Little Labs VOG) and a compression plugin (LA-2A), but no other effects. I think the original has a tremolo of some kind on the bass part if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for watching!
