Foreign IPP are the problem . These are mostly forreign entities that are paid so much for power generation. Our politicians have shares in those IPP. The power cost will never come down.

I guess because they need to buy diesel for thermal power plants, plus maybe they need to keep making capital investments in equipment like transformers, but this dollar thing doesn't make sense to me either. It shouldn't be so significant

Kplc is not the issue. It's the Ministry of Energy that gazettes changes via EPRA.

This Ndereva fellow is mixing up power and energy issues. When asked about power capacity he is responding with energy narratives. He is skirting around the fact that there could be a need to have installation capacity well in excess of the demand because generation sources have power capacities that are not firm. To say that one may not need extra capacity because some stations do not generate much energy is to miss the point. And he skirted around Eric's question.
Check your bill. Base capacity is charged separately from forex and fuel levy.
