Big shout out to Pei Mei's Cook Book. I moved to Toronto in the early 80s and I would go to lunch in Chinatown behind city hall (yes, that used to be a Chinatown) with a Chinese friend from my office. She taught me so much about Chinese culture and food. I wanted a cookbook to try things on my own and she recommended Pei Mei's Chinese Cook Book Vol. 1. Four decades later I still use it all the time. Fantastic, classic Chinese recipes. Seeing that book on the show brought a flood of happy memories back!
