Hey there! Just writing an update to say that I’ve made another channel to better focus on my personal experiences of Lithuania. This channel will focus on Lithuanian geopolitics, military, and defence/security. You can check out the other channel here: youtube.com/@lithuaniaexplainedvlog?si=8RijI-sKDzOcquZA
You've clearly grown and your videos have become more of someone who knows Lithuania and less like a foreign visiter. Nice. 👍 Congratulations on your child!
Congratulations !!! I hope you can learn a lot of Lithuanian, it's a language it deserves to be learned in order to keep it alive. Your child would be bilingual giving her/him a great advantage in this modern life. I think Lithuania is a great place to live in full of green and all the confort of a developed country. Cheers from Colombia ;)
Do not be afraid to say "prašau, kalbėkite lėčiau", it is not weak to do so. Or to use "kalbėk" instead of "kalbėkite", if you are speaking to a friend. You have expressed a huge courage already by learning the language, locals (correct me, if I am wrong) will be happy to speak to you more slowly, let alone speak in their native language, which is natural to them, unlike English. Unless you speak with some of the youngest people in this world, who will respond in English either way, because English is influencing lives of all of us, both positively and negatively.
Lithuania is a great country, i was there for the fifth time last month and i bought my father who is 81 and he loved it too. Im studying Lithuanian so i can talk to anyone. My pronunciation isnt that good but i still get my point across.

Congratulations on the planned newborn! Your videos are very useful not only for foreigners living or planning to live in Lithuania but also for Lithuanians who live here. Believe it or not, there aren’t many quality online channels in Lithuanian language in this genre. The best and most useful media of this sort comes from your own channel and a few Russian language channels run by Russian or Belarusian newcomers, some of whom you already know and have cooperated with. Therefore, it’s genuinely interesting to watch your videos despite myself being Lithuanian and Vilnius being my home city which I know fairly well. Also, kudos for mentioning topics like urban planning and traffic. This is one topic that Lithuanians unfortunately have very little understanding of, and the fact that you are touching these subjects is much appreciated. Vilnius has a big problem with its public transport and urban planning, or rather lack thereof. It would be awesome if you brought this up a little more often and perhaps even produced a few videos in the style of @NotJustBikes or similar successful channels that create similar videos to yours but with an emphasis on quality urban planning, transport, and public spaces. Thanks again for great videos and keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! On the topic of urban planning and traffic, there will be an upcoming video on Kaunas' decision to make bus passengers press the stop button :D It might be a boring topic to some people, but I find this type of thing interesting.
I am greek and I'm in Lithuania right now. I arrived the day before yesterday and i will be staying here for about a month, because I am participating in a research exchange program as a medical student. The first impression of Vilnius is really nice. It has a lot of trees and green areas which i enjoy. Your videos have been really helpful and informative about daily life
Just gotta say, cause I don't know if anyone else has said/will say this. We appreciate you just for the effort of trying to adapt to Lithuania (even if you don't realistically need to, cause you work from home) and people will definitely notice that you've learned Lithuanian when you do break through the language barrier. I just gotta say, get out there and get talking, there is not better way (my great grandfather didn't speak a lick of russian, got thrown into the soviet army, came back fluent) so yeah, maybe you can take a page from that and get out there speaking, we're not much for small talk as you probably know, but I bet you can still have some conversations with some people for sure.
Am A ugandan from Africa, i wish to spend my december holiday in Lithuania , But truth be told i have no where to start from , i wish you could guide me , this is my dream country, if you can help me on how to book a hotel,
That's some big news, congratulations! And don't worry about fluency in the language for now, no point putting a timer on that. Take one step at a time and augment your knowledge bit by bit. Your dedication is setting a good example not just for foreigners in Lithuania but for everyone living in foreign countries anywhere in the world.
Its amazing how here in East Europe everybody dreams to go to USA or Canada, but the americans and canadians want to live here in our countries. Im from Romania and I was very astonished when I found out that many americans, english or italians live in my country and love it here.
Yes, Eastern Europe increasingly becoming like New Eldorado for westerners, including western Europeans, Americans and Canadians; because liberalism and woke ideologies, social utopia of multiculturalism ruined their countries from inside and once beautiful countries now slowly becoming unlivable repulsive places - this is especially visible in California, France and etc. Such is sad reality.
You have an excellent channel and it really shows that you care about production quality. I truly appreciate the time you take to make these videos, whether it is a popular topic that gets 70k views or something more niche with 3k views. Looking forward to the 4th update.
I adore how lowkey your announcement of having a child was, haha. Clever way of not making it the center focus of the whole video. Moments of creativity like that are why I, as a Lithuanian, love this channel. Congratulations, by the way!

Congratulations on your news! I tried to learn a language in the classroom, but all we were doing was chatting and cracking jokes. Of course, adults can't be shut down. I like to take a notebook and go to the riverside to study. There, I can repeat words with the background noise of rumbling water.
Thanks for the advice! There will be an upcoming video about my experience of the course. I made sure to sit right at the front and be one of those extra-keen students. I'm not good at having the discipline to self-study haha

If you're giving yourself another 3 years to get decent at learning the language, then that's absolutely possible. You'll have already lived there for 6 years! My Lithuanian parents moved to the U.S. in their early 40s and learned enough English to get by on their own in that amount of time. My dad solely from working, and my mom from both working and taking a community college course. Working seems to be a good way to be forced to learn. And if it's a basic kind of job, just doing manual tasks alongside others, then you can potentially get a good basic language foundation.
