Hello Francis. I’m a retired Care practitioner of more than 45years. One of NMC code of conduct says: you are responsible for your actions.
The guy in question is only being mischievous saying his wife is responsible. No I beg to disagree. I think he believes he has ‘arrived’ when luck smiled on him for his second COS. So his arrogance has cost him his job.
Thank you for always being there for those of our people‘who has ears to hear’.
    God bless you my dear.

The man telephoning on duty had no responsibility. That's what they do back in Africa as well. Even in the offices, in the middle of the discussion, a person will be attending all private calls. It's dangerous and very impolite. Respectless.
Why didn't he ask his wife not to disturb him at work?
His wife is also to blame. Why she called him at work? Both as grown ups are to be blamed.
Thanks very much Brother Francis for this educative stories 🙏🏾 Hopefully many are gonna learn from this.

Some of them are just there for the money and got no Idea of what to do! Most of the agency are the cause of those problems. They just need staff s to push the job forward for them without giving them training. They encouraged them to do it with out telling them the risk, the safety and the rules. Majority know what they are doing ( Agency). Many don't give payslip because they don't want to commit themselves incase anything happened they can easily defend themselves/ the company!

Why didn't she sit with the client instead of up and about every ten minutes? Really sad! This could have happened in a few minutes? I would say there was no proper care plan in place, and this wouldn't have happened. Would suggest that proper plans should be made both on the patient and the staff as well, to be on the save side. Just (eg) of wake night job that says the you have to keep your eyes open all night with no brake? Can anyone really do that, or cheat nature? Night has been created for humans to rest their eyes, so what if nature take whole of the staff? All this needs to be reassessed! And not when things go wrong, then they start to prosecute the staff. Well RIP to the client.

I lived in an Assisted Living Accommodation. A couple of times I pulled the cord in my flat seeking help, however, a staff members would picked up but dropped the call, or not answered. The system allowed staff members access to incoming calls wherever they might be around the building. They work in pairs also a Duty Manager covering the office most shifts. I was fortunate my situation was not life threatening, I lodged a complaint but it only made my life uncomfortable thereafter, some staff member I was told were saying nasty things about me and would totally ignore me. The unprofessional behaviour of persons in this field of work is unacceptable and very concerning. If Residents are not able to speak out against these behaviours they go unchecked.
