    If you really slow down the scene where the VW Beetle is coming down the road, if you can pause it at the right moment you can see into the VW Beetle and it’s Charlie that is driving and Mel is in the passenger side and Coraline is in the back seat. Unless their shadows in the car say otherwise. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I could be wrong.

    • @phoebevaughan5095
      @phoebevaughan5095 10 месяцев назад +1

      I thought it was Charlie too but it is indeed Mel - it is set in the US and the driver sits on the left hand side. Which is where Mel is sitting. I could be wrong though, and since I live in the UK (where the novel is set) we have the drivers on the right. It's a bit confusing!

    omg and the abandoned apple orchard literally further proves the theory that coraline is still stuck in some kind of limbo after 'escaping' the other mother because the withered apple trees are suddenly fully bloomed blossom trees when she leaves the other mother and discards her hand in the well idk ive never even like thought about the trees randomly being at bloom

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  11 месяцев назад +2

      Oh yes! I did a theory on that years and years ago now that that is the definitive proof that she's trapped, in my opinion (especially since it's FEBRUARY in the movie opening). I'm trying not to talk ahead too much for the scene I'm in, but I cannot wait to do a mic drop when those trees are blooming at the end!

      I never noticed it either until I was scanning extra hard for details this watch. And I’m not 100% positive it IS a rat and not 2 rotten apples, but it seems to move on its own beyond the bump, almost like it’s trying to take the apples and run.

    Do you remember your video about Shrek on what the point was to lock Fiona in a tower? With what you said about her being a “fragile, grateful to be abused woman with no idea on what Love looks like” and “letting Prince Charming rule her kingdom”? Well, would she have been like that with Lord Farquaad in Shrek 1 if he married her successfully?

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  Год назад +5

      Debatable. We see her behavior quickly get masked around Farquad, so she would have likely been subdued - but since he didn’t directly save her and she had interactions with Shrek and Donkey, that potentially changed the level of jaded that she was.

  • @motionlesskilljoy
    @motionlesskilljoy Год назад +4

    I believe that I was also able to spot an additional detail in the scenography, which could be indicative of Mr. Bobinsky's character origin. If you look closely in the fragment of the scene/still-shot in which Mr. Bobinsky is excersising right next to the chimeny, you can see that the smoke that is released from it seems to form the shape of the Universal Symbol of Radioactivity, which could be a clever and subtle hint at him having been a part of the Chernobyl clean-up/rescue effort, however this could be subjective; as it also seems to form the shape of a grimacing or screaming face. Another detail that I was able to catch; was that if you look closely in the part of the scene in which Coraline collects the branch that she uses as a dowsing rod from the Poisoned Oak bush and the gates open, you can tell that the branches that are facing the direction of the cobblestone staircase are in the shape of the Beldam's hands and as Coraline starts to leave the frame, the aforementioned branches brush her clothing slightly; simulating that they were almost compelled to grab her by her hood and perhaps drag her. This is such a tremendously detailed and wonderfully deep adaptation.

    You know that greenhouse also really reminds me of some bird aviaries from Victorian era
    It's kind of odd that they have an apple orchard, a garden and a greenhouse

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  Год назад +2

      Yeah, I would love a panned back shot of the entire property. I’m not sure if the orchard is a separate business or if the original owners just wanted to make good use of that hillside, but it is very strange and eerie - not to mention, difficult for anyone else to get to from what we can tell!

    • @williamswonderland3636

      @@TheFangirlWatches yes that whole orchid is very strange. it almost reminds me of a colour out of space an HP love craft story about aliens that are about of weird bright colours nobody has seen before. And they infect the well water of a farm and passion the food and people basically start melting. And now that think about it the Belldame's layer is very colourful compared to Coraline's home

      @@TheFangirlWatches I live in northern Croatia, which has a similar climate to Ashland. I've seen rotten apples linger on the ground several months after going out of season, but definitely not several decades, much less still attached to the tree. Additionally, the apples don't really look rotten, they look as if they were rapidly burnt to a crisp. Come to think of it, the whole orchard resembles a patch of land recovering from a recent fire.

  • @MysticSparkleWings
    @MysticSparkleWings 11 месяцев назад +1

    The abandonned tractor left out could point to a more bengin reality-I've been around old farm country before, and you do sometimes see big, "valuable" equipment like that get left out for no real reason other than whoever lives nearby were too old or too lazy to do anything else with it. Especially if they don't absolutely _need_ to get rid of it, either for the money or the space.
    I would argue the more "concerning" element about what was left behind is whatever rolls out of the baskets-If it's fruit, it's rolling around as if it's fairly fresh, not rotten and been sitting there for longer than _maybe_ a couple of months at the absolute most. So either there's a question of how fresh-ish food got out there in those baskets, or it's something else entirely that would keep form over time.
    I suppose the simplest explanation is it could have been fake fruit used as display for the orchard when it was well-kept, which wouldn't rot and could've been left out there haphazardly like the tractor-and would make the baskets easier to jostle than real fruit-but I do wonder if there's more to it than that.
