You were in the wrong part of Metro Manila I'm afraid. You should have stayed in BGC which is the central shopping and lifestyle part of Metro Manila and is fully developed. I dont think much correct and updated travel information exists in the Japanese language, but many exist in English. The problem is the language barrier. I noticed Japanese travelers always end up in the rough part of the city that Western tourists and expats, as well as middle class locals, never really go to. Unfortunately many Japanese travellers and tourists are unaware of the developed swathes of Metro Manila, of which there are many large developed districts. This is probably because the only travel information about Manila and the Philippines available in the Japanese language is sorely outdated by almost 20-30 years. Maybe if you decide to come here again, please stay in BGC, Ortigas, and Makati. You will change your image of the city :) This is like going to Osaka and choosing to stay in Tennoji instead. Enjoy your travels! 🙌
