I absolutely love listening to Karen Savage! I heard her Pride and Prejudice Version first and immediately fell in love with her flawless and soothing voice. Her accent ist awesome and the quality is great. What more can one want? I’m going to listen to her other readings of Jane Austen now. I searched for her reading of Emma, though I fear she didn’t make that one, so now I’m going to listen to sense and sensibility on the audible app. I wanted to compliment her on her reading, but I can’t seem to find a way to write to her directly, so I’m going to say it here :)
You go girl! Keep on with the good work! After being done with her Jane Austens I’m going to look into her other readings, I’m exciting about what I’m going to find:)

You can go to the Librivox forum, they pass complements along to the narrators.

I first heard Karen Savage read "The Secret Garden", and it still is my favourite audiobook today. I don't think I could enjoy a different version, tbh.

I always avoid this particular Jane Austen book because it is so sad to me. But, there’s no denying that it is excellent. In fact, it is written so well, that I always experience great pain for the Dashwood sisters. Karen Savage brings it all to life with her perfect reading voice.

State of the art. Both book and the narrator lady

I do like this reading. But as to the book itself, it goes on and on and, I have to say since I know/love the movie so much, this is sort-of hard to follow at times. But it’s my second listening of this, so I must like it!

P_ NK I thought so too at first and sometimes the characters in the movie say things they did not say in the book or that someone else said in the book, example “not like a ball” said by Charles Bingly’s sister in the movie is said by someone else in the book. In the book Bingly has two sisters instead of one, etc. But if you’ve seen the movie it still makes the book easier to follow. I listen to it every night to fall asleep and I love how Karen Savage can depict a speedy conversation back and forth between two people and you always know who’s speaking because she gives each character his/her own voice. She’s the most amazing audiobook reader ever. She does Anne of Green Gables and sounds Canadian! I wish she would do ALL of Jane Austen and then maybe ALL of Charles Dickens. She has her own webpage where you can see her audiobooks. There aren’t a lot. Please make more, Karen Savage.

    SPOILERS
This is my favorite book. I’ve seen so many books and movies but there’s something so truly real about the way Jane Austen transcribes her characters. Mrs John Dashwoods controller vindictive behavior is unforgivable and Willoughby arriving at the house, drunk, and declaring his love and concern for Marianne is indescribable.

      *Spoilers*
Yes!! The Willoughby scene is one of my favorites ever!! I actually gasped when he showed up. I watched the BBC miniseries and I found the way they treated that scene as unsatisfactory so I went to the book and annotated it. "Each faulty propensity in leading him to evil, had led him likewise to punishment." Elinor was able to pity him by the end of the scene, not because he was a good man by any stretch, but because he was paying dearly for his sins. And Elinor is an actual angel.

She's a great narrator - just talks way too fast for my liking.

@fauxgrace I think she talks too fast too. I clicked on Settings - Playback Speed and changed it to 0.75 Then Karen's reading is perfect for my liking.
