athletic madrid is a team which prefers to dominate the midfield with it's 3 5 2 formation. I personally think real madrid should go with the 442 diamond formation to counter Athletico's numerical superiority in the midfield. A 4v5 is always better than a 3v5. Another reason he could go there is it depends on where Liverpool are going to be as a football club for the next couple of years. Forgot to mention that his best friend on the England national team Jude Bellingham will be key in convincing Trent to go to Madrid as they’re very good friends off the pitch and he would want to play with him although we could’ve seen them at Liverpool together. Anyways, at times I don’t think that he’s fully respected by the English media as he’s a target of criticism whenever his team loses and he makes a defensive mistake costing his team a goal, we’re talking about a generational talent a world class right back who couldn’t even get a game on his national team over guys like Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier due to the fact that people were pushing an agenda that he couldn’t defend ignoring his brilliance going forward from an attacking perspective. Given Trent Alexander Arnold’s recent comments about his ambition and he said that he wants to win trophies, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up going to Real Madrid at the end of this season or in the coming years. Personally, due to the fact that he came from their academy, he’s a local lad and is seen as a club legend, I think that from Trent’s perspective, trophies hold more value at Liverpool than they do at Madrid, he already won everything there at the age of 25 as a couple of years ago, he helped them win the Premier League and the Champions League and if he did this at a different club, he would be valued a lot differently. As I said before, it’s his boyhood club and whatever he achieves there means more to him than it does at any other club, I mean when you play for Real Madrid, you’re automatically guaranteed to win trophies every season and on top of that, due to the fact that they’re the biggest club in the world with unlimited PR, when they come calling for a player, it’s so difficult for them to turn them down as it’s such a prestigious football club to play for. Trent is loyal to Liverpool and he probably doesn’t want to ruin his relationship with the fans and leave on bad terms since they wouldn’t want to see their homegrown legend leave his boyhood club on a free, sooner or later, he’ll end up at Madrid.

There’s a certain section of Real Madrid fans who are blaming Ancelotti for Mbappe’s injury and that’s because even though he scored a couple of days ago, there’s a feeling that with the Madrid derby in mind, he should’ve rested and if that happened he wouldn’t have got injured. That’s not how it works, it’s true that it’s important for managers to rotate the squad, at the same time, they still have to play their strongest lineup as they want to also win games and not drop the team in a position where they can easily drop points. His injury could’ve happened to any other player as injuries are part of the game, but this raises a question mark about the intense workload of players in modern football. Football is going through a problem that hasn’t shown any signs of being fixed, we’ve heard managers speak about it for years and even players are saying that they’re on the verge of going on strike with the congested schedules and this is having an impact on everyone. We can say “oh these players need to suck up and do their job, they’re making so much money”, footballers are not robots they’re human. With every passing season, I’m not joking when I say that the rate of injuries has increased as these players get injured all the time and that’s because they’re playing too many games and they don’t have a proper rest. The football organizers aren’t helping as they want to add more games and change the format of competitions and there’s a feeling that they care more about money than the players. With the new format in the champions league between club and international competitions, players are going to be playing 75-80+ games a season as this is basically like the NBA all over again and they really need to implement load management.
Normally when the season is over, just when you think that the players will get an actual break, all of a sudden, they’re playing with their national teams, I’m pretty sure that we had the EUROs and the Copa America last summer and once that was over, ok they had a mini break, but the players went back to playing football for the start of the season, then there was the international break and then boom, players started picking up injuries left right and center and they’re dropping like flies. I don’t think that teams like Barcelona Real Madrid Manchester City or Arsenal are regularly playing their best starting lineups and that’s because most of their best players are injured. Prior to Tuesday’s game, Madrid played 3 days ago and then they played again and one of their star players picked up an injury. These guys are filling up their pockets with ease and are generating a lot of money, at the same time, with the amount of games in the football calendar, it’s going to destroy the quality of the game and superstars are going to be picking up injuries that’ll rule them out for longer periods at this rate. Mbappe’s injury doesn’t have anything to do with this, it does play a factor as this has been a talking point in the past couple of years. As a fan, as great as it is that we want to see more games, no one wants to see the best players in the world pick up these injuries.
Just when we thought that we seeing Kylian Mbappe back to his brilliance best following the goal that he scored the other day meaning that he has scored in 5 consecutive games (6 goals) for Real Madrid, he is now out for 3 weeks. Unfortunate timing for him. He won’t play against Atletico Madrid in La Liga, he’ll miss the game against Lille in the Champions League which is the team that his brother plays for and during the international break, he won’t play for France as I don’t think that they should rush him back as they’ll give him enough time to fully recover. Even though it’s a blow for them and they would want to see him play in those games especially the seedy since he’s one of the best players in the world and on his day, when he’s in form, he’s a difference maker, at least he’s out for only 3 games and he won’t play for his national team. Carlo Ancelotti will have to navigate with what he has at his disposal in his absence, I’m not saying that they’re a better team without Mbappe, last season they were able to have success before they signed him and they won’t have an issue with him not playing in those games.
If they’re still going to use a 4-3-3 formation, many people want them to either play Endrick or Arda Guler alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo although, they’ll probably play with a diamond a formation that worked last season, Vini and Rodrygo up top, Bellingham in behind them and since Camavinga has just returned from injury, next to Tchouameni and Valverde, Luka Modric will probably start. It’s true that Mbappe has had some injuries in his career as he’s had periods where he’s missed some games in a season, it doesn’t mean that he’s injury prone or is going to end up being Eden Hazard 2.0, Madrid as a whole just like last season have been plagued with injuries, are they even playing their best starting lineup regularly, it’s a good thing that he doesn’t pick up injuries at a consistent rate as if he did, that’s a different story to be worried about.
