My entire life as an acoustic player has been informed by the genius that is John Renbourn. He is greatly missed and there may never be another like him any time soon. I was quite fortunate to have met him on several occasions and to have seen him play live here in Toronto.
How long have I loved John Rengorn? Maybe forever....I listened to my husband, who just passed away, practice his tuning (as the tune on this very video) and style from admiration for thousands of hours deep into the night in our home, while I put the babies to sleep. thank you...much. Hot Potato!
Renbourn seems like such a chill dude. I remember studying for tests in college and just putting Black Balloon on an hour before taking them and being completely relaxed.
Always loved his playing.....his stubby hands were not meant for a guitar but he still managed the most delicate playing....I only saw him play once unfortunately.
A pleasure to listen to as always. Does anyone know anything about the rig he is using to hold the guitar on his knee. I am a large :) man and usually have to balance the lower bout on my knee. A set up like John is using in this video would be a godsend to me.

From the perspective of the history of acoustic guitar, I feel privileged to have lived during his time and seen him play a bunch of times.
he has one of the most elegant and fluid touches i ever saw , especially for the steel string.

This is Sweet Potato. I had a pint with John in the Toad Hall folk club, 1966! Good to see him again!

I've been to one of the last workshops he held before passing and can confirm, awesome person and musician.
Saw him live in 09 with Robin Williamson, was a mind opening experience such a dude.
Always liked John's light English touch.
