"Hello, I'm Michael Palin,"
1 second into the video and I'm already in fits of laughter.
I had this playing in the background I heard John Cleese's voice say he was Micheal Palin and had to do two or three double takes...
There is no one like John Cleese. He is so funny, intelligent, and handsome. I have loved Monty Python all my life. Mr. Cleese can make me laugh, no matter what. The Ministry of Silly Walks, the Exploding Scottsman, the Parrot, ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT!! He and his partners in comedy will always have a special place in my heart. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜👺👺👺👺👺👺👺🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄💚💚💚💚💚
Confused TF out of me at first.
Must be the dementia kicking in
@@EternalVirgin LOL...
When he says "I'd rather be a graybeard," I just lost it. hahahahaha
I can't disagree - That tickles me.
He works with Bethesda and does voices in Fallout actually.
*Grey*
sonofeast11 Both are acceptable.
Sun Wukong He voice acts an NPC in The elder scrolls online
The title is wrong. This is, in fact, not John Cleese, but obviously (as he even mentioned in the beginning!), Michael Palin.
You are, in fact, quite gullible.
Goldie Kaitz I think you'll find the poster was probably pulling your leg :), and using python-esque dialogue to do it.
Mark Joseph Middleton
I think you'll find the poster was probably pulling your leg :), and using python-esque dialogue to do it.
In fact he is pulling your leg and he is none other than Terry Gilliam.
Fiddlesticks you dummies. Can none of you recognize Maria Montezuma with a modified voice track?
"I'd rather be a graybeard"...
Someone needs to make I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION a dragon shout somehow.
Cheaptastic Productions Unrelenting force... from the rear end.
yup. gonna be hilarious.
+Cheaptastic Productions so epic i love him
+Cheaptastic Productions Crazy how easy it is to just let time slip by with that game. Forgot the name of the mission, but the cave with all the glowing giant mushrooms was gorgeous. If John Cleese voicing a character would be epic! Used to play Baldur's Gate 2 a lot. And I loved that the main villain was played by the Sum of all Evil himself David Warner.
And then a giant foot comes from the sky and it squashes the enemy
Jeff Dunham... Funnier than Monty Python... Maybe in a universe where bricks are food and cheese is the main building material...
I much prefer the Monty Python for all sorts of reasons. But Jeff Dunham's performances also make me laugh quite a lot. He actually makes me laugh more than most stand up comedians. But the question is... Who in their right mind would compare an iconic british 70's comedy group with a contemporary american ventrioloquist and stand-up comedian ?! It's almost like saying "Lady Gaga is more talented than the Beatles"... What's the point in comparing things that are not even comparable ?
This type of comparison/comment is just typical of young teens who don't have enough knowledge and perspective to write a comment worth taking seriously. The person who wrote that comment must not know much more than the parrot sketch to be able to judge.
AlexJamesGTV I bet even she doesn't like his comedy! Must be like: "Daaaaaaaaaaaad why do you have to do this crap for a living?"
Errr... Who is Jef Dunham?
duratbey
Jeff Dunham is a comedian :)
I actually think he is very funny (what i've seen of him anyway, im sure there is something from him here on RUclips).. but he is nowhere near Monty Python. Then again, not many (if any), are.
PlacidDragon He's a ventriloquist.
It took him one second to make me laugh.
Same here! I actually had to stop the video after one second because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to concentrate on his following monologue. :D
***** I did the same!
☺️👍
He wants to be a greybeard :o
Skyrim modders MAKE IT HAPPEN :p
Post that on the Nexus Forum. Someone might be able to add him with full dialogue thanks to Fable 3, and ESO audio clips.
That last one....
Mind
Blown....
this should be plastered all over internet ahaha
the dude Only a small percentage of people actually are smart enough to understand Monty Python's humor...most people are just mind-blowingly stupid. It's a miracle they even live through a day sometimes.
John Smith Dunning-Kruger Effect. Explains 85 to 95% of GOP voters
Ringo Garvin
And here an easy example of what Cleese just explained, for you see, when you lack the abilities to form or understand a good premise/argument for your main point, you’ll probably not have enough knowledge to understand your premises are fallacies, too.
Example: his whole premise was an ad hominem fallacy. On his point of view, because the founders of a party (a long, long time ago, considering how fast politics go) were X, even if now the party claims Z, Y, or A, they would be considered inefficient and automatically worthless (which there’s a probability, higher or lower, that they may, but absolutely not because of this argument). Aside from the time and the changes in ideology, there’s the fact that even if someone was a terrorist, an assassin or i don’t know, a fucking nazi, this wouldn’t mean there’s zero possibilities on his/her opinions to be absolutely right and perfect, the truth itself (of course, highly unlikely and exaggerating terms, but still possible, because eliminating what one has done or is doesn’t inherently eliminate what one thinks).
And that’s all for today class! Tomorrow, “At least this is actually an argument and not a fucking fallacy”.
Best Greybeard ever!!!!
I've been brainwashed by the BBC to laugh at this man since puberty, so I can't stop now. I must take issue with one thing, though: most stupid people like me really do know we're stupid. That's because smart people keep telling us we are -- and we're so utterly stupid we actually believe them.
You just blew my mind
Are you in government?
no bitches?
That's called low-self-esteem. You should prolly see a therapist.
"...but also the entirety of Fox News." I nearly died laughing.
He said "almost the entirety of FOX News". Of course, this was made before Shep Smith left.
🤭👍
I lost it at him calling the History Channel the "Hitler Channel".
Very aptly if I may opine. It's the default channel for the sympathizers of Adolf and Nazi atrocities, who like to wallow in their monumental defeat or voice fits of impotent rage from their trash heap of history.
It's either implying that it's always showing WW2 stuff or that most of the content is leaning slightly towards Nazi propaganda.
"I'd rather be a greybeard".. That's where I lost it!!
Didn't see it coming either !
blew my mind........
One of the best memories I've had so far in my life was when my son and I watched the black knight scene and we played it over and over while we both laughed until we were crying. He was 8 years old when I rented that for us.
Soon to be "famous" Jeff Dun-ham HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
OH MY GOD
That burn at the end
The Hitler channel, well that wasn't expected like the Spanish inquisition
NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION
NOBODY EXPECTS the invasion of Poland.
NOBODY EXPECTS two yolks in an egg
@@spaghettiandmeatballs6471 Don't mention the war!
Eric van Bezooijen “Well you started it! No you started it by invading Poland!”
The Argument Clinic is MUCH funnier than the Parrot Sketch.
I agree! The Argument Clinic sketch is one of my favourites too.
***** No you don't!
RonJohn63
Now let's get one thing absolutely clear; I most definitely do!
***** It's patently obvious that NO, you most certainly DO NOT!
RonJohn63
*Ding!* thank you, good morning. The five minutes is up.
H-How.... How did he even know what a Greybeard is?!
Maybe he plays skyrim :)
He is, in fact, the greybeard. So grey is his beard, it defies the color spectrum, and thusly you cannot see it.
Mind...BLOWN!!!
Mark Joseph Middleton Shout of beard invisibility. Exactly the kind of thing a greybeard would know!
Shakespeare wrote in As You Like It: "The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.", which I think it really relates the the last comment you were talking about.
John Cleese knows skyrim!!!!!! The man is beyond human! John Cleese for world president!!!!
From what I remember, he voiced a character in The Elder Scrolls Online. Of course, he was totally insane, but that's why we love him.
ESO HAS NO GREYBEARDS THOUGH. That means either this line was made up by some writer, but I like to believe after being asked to do a voice in ESO Jon Cleese had interest in the Elder Scrolls series :)
No greybeards...strange wonder who's living on this big hill. Wonder who is shouting all the time at me :S You know there's way more then Elder Scrolls *Online* ?
High king of Skyrim*
A King he is, not a mere President!
"I'd rather be a greybeard"
HE KNOWS!!!!
I don't get the joke. Can someone explain?
Well, good luck for Jeff... what was his name?!?
You sir, you know what you do, and you know it well...
They should put him in the next Elder scrolls.
Really that's awesome!!!
Fucking somebody make this happen!
+Politiekman
Who the fuck asked you?
+Politiekman I bet very few people like you.
+Washable Burrito For someone to be so abrasive just because an individual exercised his/her right to voice a fact that satisfies the OP's explicit desire, odds are that your own remark is a projection of how you yourself behave.
That being said, a baseless ad hominem is furthest from being an effective debating tool and only serves to make yourself look like an angry fool.
That man is absolutely awesome.
´ang on! That´s not Michael Palin, is it?!
*****
surely you mean "yes, he is silly." :P
No it is John Cleese from Fawlty Towers
+Nicholas Bodman No it is Basil Fawlty from A Fish named Wanda
No it is Aimi MacDonald
Nah, it's Graham Chapman.
Its always interesting to hear people's first impressions of Monty Python. Anyone I meet that is a fan spends the next 20 minutes trading quotes in between belly laughs. But theres an interesting occurrence with some people who are not familiar with the Pythons and it goes like this:
1) They watch any Monty Python skit or movie with occasional laughter and many puzzled looks.
2) They go to work the next day and talk to someone else who is a fan of MP.
3) They start quoting MP things they heard the previous day.
4) They return home to rewatch the same MP footage and now laugh hysterically.
There is a very large value in the quotability and recital of Monty Python material, and it has cause to increase the enjoyment of rewatching. Not many other comedians/movies/shows have this ability and it is MARVELLOUS!
Love your work!
'Tis but a scratch!
I can't believe he said Hitler Channel. I thought I was the only person that still said that.
Here I thought I was the only one. "And so's my wife!" 🙂
🤭👍
This is amazing. So nice we still have John with us. Hope he keeps kicking for another 20 years.
it's now 10 years after your comment and he's still here, so here's to another 10
This Michael Palin chap looks a lot like John Cleese from Monty Python.
ajajjajajaajja 😆😁
"I'd rather be a Greybeard" MIND. FUCKING. BLOWN.
You rock John, as do the rest of the crew. Thank you for so many years of laughter and happiness.
Wait a second. That's not Michael Palin at all!
Yes it is.
Yes they are.
Eric Idol is always claiming to be someone else.
LOL! John says he's often mistaken for Michael Palin. Which may be a joke, or may be real; John loves to twit people. All the Pythons do.
Dave LeFevre And here was me thinking it was Terry Jones.
Monty Python in theatres 2015?
Make a motion picture goddamnit! Don't be afraid to do new stuff. You guys seem just as hilarious now as you were during Flying Circus. Plus now you have old actors (yourselves) to work with which could make things even more hilarious.
3:45 In regards to Glenn Beck, I think he knows EXACTLY what he is doing and doesn't care how awful it is.
The guy is a conman and a professional troll.
Liche Christ Unfortunately.
To speak words that are certain to be understood one needs to speak slowly, carefully. This is also creating comedy gold. The almost-pauses demand anticipation which get resolved and release the tension; and it's funny!
Watching Monthy Python with my dad was a part of my childhood. This circus will always have a special place in my laughing heart.
One of the few instances when my dad and I got along and we're not butting heads with each other. Stupid git... I'll miss him 😔
Listening to John Cleese speak candidly rather than putting on a character and doing a script is quite a treat. I'd be very interested if he were to ever write an autobiography, especially if he read the audio book version. John Cleese's reading of The Screwtape Letters was one of my favorite audio books of all time.
possibly the best five words ever said, "id rather be a graybeard"
In the last minute he's talking about the Dunning-Kruger effect, look it up if you haven't already, it's very interesting stuff.
We currently have President Dunning-Kruger leading [sic] the USA.
"[...] which was supposed to be taken metaphorically is taken literally."
Well, in some cases taking things literally is alright. Like, the stoning thing. I don't see the problem. "If a wife is to cheat on her husband she shall be stoned". Good for her! To me that doesn't even sound like a punishment, that sounds like Sunday afternoon.
Intelligent people should have the good sense to speak unambiguously.
"I'd rather be a greybeard!"
That was fucking awesome.
John can make the simple act of crossing his arms dapper.
"Jeff Dunham"
Who?
Oh, that Fox News stinger at the end got me. Love it!
Trying to single out a Monty python sketch/moment/scene as the best feels to me like trying to single out the best among my brain hemispheres. Pointless to say the least. I can't even begin to imagine how much laughter you have caused over the years and I am so thankful for it.
The parrot sketch is funny! Whom ever said it wasn't was a blasphemer!
Whoever said it was obviously is easily amused.
John thanks for all...
Hahahaha. When he said he was Michael Palin, I did a double take.
Monty Python has been my favorite humor tv since the '70s. Ty!
"I would rather be a grey beard" i love this man.
My god... He has knowledge of Skyrim... Amazing.
Hittler... I mean history channel
Brilliant
This is now my favorite video on RUclips
I had forgotten why I loved John Cleese, since it had been a while since i watched anything monty python but just seeing this video, my love for John Cleese has been rekindled
This is just wonderful. Just so very wonderful.
A medieval themed ad on a John Cleese video? RUclips's systems are getting scary good at this.
It's so sad to see how old he has gotten. I swear i'm gonna cry when he dies. A true Legend.
2:44 John Cleese you legend! Hahahaha
There are two kinds of people in the world: People that think Jeff Dunham is funny, and smart people.
John, what do you mean you are Michael Palin?
literally LOVE this man!
I love you guys.
Your work is the truly genious.
Fan wants more movies in blue-ray..
"Well we are just in the process of making something you can watch on your iPad"
Jeff Dunham had better get some ointment for that BURN!!!
***** Yes he is.
the last response in the video is just epic! loved it!
Final 20 seconds of the clip. Priceless!
3:22 and this is what I'm going to be like when I'm his age.
Everyone who submitted a question seems to be slightly illiterate.
That was fantastic, glad they took the time to put this together.
This is one of the most awesome videos I've ever seen.
He deals with criticism very well
Everyone's so crossed with Palin, she's actually a really nice person!
And as dumb as a bucket of paint
Jon Wibz Not as stupid as Obama or Biden.
18kMPH Naah that's different. You mean you don't LIKE Obama's or Biden's ideas as much, but Palin still is the stupidest of the whole bunch.
jobapi01 Do you even know who Joe Biden is? XD
Yes I do. Put it this way, I know more about Joe Biden than I need to get around here in Sweden ;)
Make more like this , it's grate!
The Parrot Sketch rocked, Mr Cleese. Still makes me laugh to this day.
The God has spoken (and I am sure I'd be criticized by him for calling him a God)
John Cleese and Monty Python is absolutely brilliant and i feel sad when i see todays standard in comedy.... its really a testament to how stupid young people are.
***** Ok, thanks for the lesson.
and that even the narrowminded can chuckle now and again
CupcakesForStalin but what about Maria Bamford?
Just keep in mind that young people are using products and services invented and educated by your (our) generation. If they really are stupid, it's because we made them that way.
Monsieurr Claw hehehe I'm sure it is based on the scientific principle of "I do not understand what they are thinking so they must be stupid" maybe it is just "they are young I am old, therefore I must know things better or else I have wasted my life" most Dj's use a sound basis... or was it base sounds?
His demeanor and tone in this video is so very pleasant: this video is quite calming.
he's so polite xD
Well this is just absolutely fantastic
Great video Eric Idle; I love your Great Railway Journeys documentaries
Love John! Miss Monty Python
At "I would rather be a greybear" I almost died laughing
The march tune in the background is fabulous.
+Jude Miller It's called The Liberty Bell, and it's the theme tune for Monty Python's Flying Circus ;)
OMG! that fox news bit at the end. I haven't laughed that hard in ages.
One of the best videos I have ever seen.
"I'd rather be a Greybeard." THAT WAS SO UNEXPECTED! Hahahaha! Love it!
Thanks for the idea! I'll spend the next few days messing around with the Creation Kit.
Brilliant; as always!
Gotta love this gang, go classic humor!
It may be a very short sketch, but one of my favorites will always be the fish slapping dance :D
It's the combination of zany music, lower film quality, and the calmly unhinged look on John Cleese's face as he reveals the punchline that really elevates that sketch.
3:24 I spilled my drink through my nose.
God, I wasn't expecting that...
The last burn... AHahha
Seriously, These are great! You guys should really do another one, maybe with Terry.
Which Terry? Jones or Gilliam?
AdolfTallentDay ZeroOne I was thinking Gilliam, but either one really.
Thank you for making me laugh
I love this man.
Every single sketch Monty Python did was a masterpiece to me...pure comedy genius!
Except for series 4. And the cycling tour.
The end is outstanding.. :D
"And this explains not only Hollywood..."
I'll miss this man.
