Jansen is more home of a person than anyone I've literally encountered in the real world. I find it hard to believe he was created, and wasn't based on someone real, because who he is is so natural. This game was so home in many ways that I consider this to be FF XIII.
So you meet him, lucky you, wow he maked me so inspired to make an character, also, how this game didn't make others inspirate to make their... Anyway if you say because it wasn't a big seller, what about indie games that are more for freedom than doing what is safe and popular, if i did a game, i just think of don't be an turn based, an kinda thousand years history feature seems very good to be missing, I don't feel attracted to play an visual novel tho if one give me this reccomendation for history based, especially as an example this japanese game have an western art
The reason he's so real is that the actor, a comedian/actor, was encouraged to do whatever he wanted to make the character 'his.' Since its a sitcom actor, he had little problem putting together a personality for him and going off it.
Michael McGaharn stole the show. I remember a lot of people giving flack to the Sonic Adventure voice cast for their acting, but I think this proves it was never really the actors fault, but mostly the writing or directing. Given free reigns like in Lost Odyssey, the guy nails every line.
@@BladeBlur I probably should've clarified, there was virtually no direction for _Adventure,_ (according to the VAs) though apparently the directors for Lost Odyssey pretty much let Michael do his own kinda thing when he recorded for Jansen, even ad-lib a little where it suited the mood.
Jansen made me laugh so hard at times, I had tears. What a great character. He's a really nice contrast to Kaim. A video full of Jansen clips...just priceless! I really love the characters in this game so thank you for sharing.
I love when Seth shouts his name in the pub. Hus reaction is so gold I also love how Seth and Jansen good-cop/bad-cop the royal double. Like, they just did it so naturally. They work together so well. God I love this game!
I never did beat this game... I made it half way and I had to return it to blockbuster or gamefly or something. Tried playing it again 2 years ago but being an adult made it impossible with my work schedule. Definitely my top 10 RPG list though. Jansen is one of the funniest characters from any sort of entertainment/media I've consumed.
Michael McGaharn was phenomenal in this role. Shows what happens when you have great direction. It's also worth noting that McGaharn sounds like he can be a substitute for Ryan Drummond, which is quite the irony since Drummond was the one who initially replaced him as Knuckles in Sonic Shuffle.
Michael McGaharn and Salli Saffioti did a great job in Jansen and Ming's scenes! I mean it's so real! Their relationship growing in this game is so adorable and reminds me of real life relationships! Jansen really is lit in this story! I mean, great sense of humor, his story is amazing from Thief to King(SPOILERS!!)! Awesome character ever(Jansen)!
His Japanese voice is better as it emphasizes its duality better. Still he is so human, maybe one of the best characters of one of the best games ever. FFXIII characters are put to shame by LO cast.
This game is nothing without Jansen.
Emmett LaFave What the Luirm scene?
Jansen makes me feel better about myself.
Of all the new JRPG IPs to be released, this deserved a sequel. This!

I fully share your point of view. FFXIII meh, it was the point where the franchise gone really really south.

@@Matt-cn2nn what do you mean ad-lib?
@@LeRepulseBR Basically improvising the dialogue in small places.
Jansen and Ming are the real main characters of the story :o
True that.
So true
Jansen made me laugh so hard at times, I had tears. What a great character. He's a really nice contrast to Kaim. A video full of Jansen clips...just priceless! I really love the characters in this game so thank you for sharing.
Love the characters in Lost Odyssey, they feel so alive. Lost Odyssey even now is above and beyond the standards set by most game devs.
I love when Seth shouts his name in the pub. Hus reaction is so gold
I also love how Seth and Jansen good-cop/bad-cop the royal double. Like, they just did it so naturally. They work together so well.
God I love this game!
In my head I always referred to him as Sokka. He looks and acts exactly like him lol
this guy needs more recognition. best comic relief character ever
i must say the voice acting for jansen friedh [michael mc gaharn] did a fantastic job for this one
YEEEEESSS♥ Jansen & Ming, her promising to love him for eternity~ gave me proper chills!
I never did beat this game... I made it half way and I had to return it to blockbuster or gamefly or something. Tried playing it again 2 years ago but being an adult made it impossible with my work schedule. Definitely my top 10 RPG list though.
Jansen is one of the funniest characters from any sort of entertainment/media I've consumed.
one of the most underrated games of the 360
11:29 is my favourite. Erratic in the face of danger
Jansen is amongst the funniest video game characters ever made! Thank you so much fo the video!
Michael McGaharn was phenomenal in this role. Shows what happens when you have great direction.

God I love Jansen. Every game needs someone like him.
He has a good heart
The first damn line in this video and I'm falling off my chair! God bless the writers for Jensen!
Now I want to play this game because of this guy, he's my type of guy.

Yeah well I don't wear out in bed!
Jansen is such a tool.
But the best tool.
One of the best RPG characters ever and I started crying tears of joy when Ming and Jansen got married
Best comic relief ever!
The voice actor and the character kinda reminds me of joxer from Xena(if anyone remembers). I especially like the scenes with him and Ming
Misses the Seafish line before the 2nd boss. Great collage tho.
I personally prefer Seth, although admittedly part of that is due to her conversations with Jansen.
That kiss with Ming tho... probably the only kiss scene in a video game that is actually heartwarming and not complete cringe
Thanks so much for posting this! Jansen always made me laugh in Lost Odyssey xD
I love when he gets kicked my cook and he says "What are you, Seths cousin?!"
26:59 xD
Jansen is best man xD
It's a good thing Gongora hired a terrible liar or else they may have been in for a lot more trouble. XD
Best rpg character ever. XD
Jansen is the best
Amazing journey...
The wedding....the wedding *tears teras tears*
5:40 Phil Spencer would never allow this in an Xbox game today
23:21 "Wow! Puberty's weird!"

14:00 Numera’s what bothers me... huh I wonder if that line stems from somewhere...
Most black mages are usually cool collected silent. Jansen Friedh is not most black mages.
So he is an example that mages are an extreme of personalities and he is the funny excentric
who the hell are you!? your not the maid..
I hate Ming being with Jansen but WHY THE HELL ARE THEY SO CUTE TOGETHEEEER?! I cant resist seeing them kiss and not saying: oooooow so cute!
25:14
Drip
The only funny thing he said was the first quote. Which had me rolling.
