I replaced my fully electric car with a Prius Prime, I am loving it so far. I've never had a problem with charging cars, this is my third car that plugs in and I find it more convenient than stopping for gas. My daily driving is covered by the EV range so I rarely use the engine, a tank of gas can last me thousands of miles. Buying a regular hybrid would only make sense if someone drives significantly farther than the electric range daily or if they don't have access to charging, otherwise the average person would benefit greatly from plugging in even with the short range of the Prius Prime. Great review otherwise

As a Prime owner , I have to agree with the screen. It’s absolutely terrible . If I would sell my car , I would be for that reason alone. I should have got the base model. I enjoyed your drive through Lachine :)

Thanks for your video review. I posted on both Facebook Prius Prime Groups. My 2017 PP Advanced has been wonderful and yes, while I'm not a fan of the 11.6" infotainment, I love having other added Advanced/Linited trim features. Especially the Heads Up Display.

Great video. You sum up the cars strengths and weaknesses perfectly. Resale values are poor in the uk compared to normal hybrid. Depending g on your point of vue the phv is either the best or worst of both worlds. My average mpg is 120 in uk gallons with all lot of charging so I've saved a lot of money on fuel and electricity is 5p per kilowatt at night but Iit will take a lot of miles to pay for the battery

Sporty car? I was looking for fuel efficiency. That's it's design.
I have no issue with the screen as you do.
You mentioned that you don't like plugging it in. There's no issue or time wasted plugging the car in. Then why would you buy a prime? You should have just bought a regular Prius.
I love my Prius Prime. So far I'm still learning the best ways to get the best mileage from the car for long drives.

Hi Christopher, great review. I live near St-Sauveur and was wondering if the electric mode works immediately when getting in the car on a cold morning or does it need to use the gas engine to warm up first? (or does the battery keep itself warm when it is plugged in overnight?) Also, in your review you mentioned that you have to run the battery down to zero before plugging it in again in order to achieve full efficiency..I was told that it wasn't good to run batteries down to zero. Just wanted to get a clarification :) Thanks in advance for any info you have.

Nice review! I’m a little over a year into my 2020 PP. Also, a Montreal driver. I agree with pretty much your entire review. But, as a person with a 35km drive to work, I think my gas savings are a bit more than your estimate. Also, there is a Circuit Electronique station right next to my office. I would add a couple items to the disappointment list. Apple CarPlay tends to disconnect randomly. I have no idea why! Very annoying when I’m listening to a podcast. And, I find the car has a hard time keeping the front window defrosted while driving in a snow storm.
    Overall, I like my PP.
Now to save my pennies for a Cyber Truck!!

Down to 22 - 25 km here in Winnipeg at -30 to -40 deg/Cel. Otherwise I really enjoy my 2019 PRME. Electricity is 0.08 per kw/hr. So it is real savings driving into the city for work. Summer range is 40-47 kms, so it makes up a little for the loss in winter.

I purchased a base Prius Prime 2 months ago and I agree with everything you said, except for your hesitancy to plug it in regularly. To me, the 20 to 30 seconds it takes to plug it in is no big deal.
As for the screen, I completely agree and it's why I purchased the base model. I used to drive a Chev Sonic, and the audio system was the only thing in that car that I would say is outstanding, especially when you consider the car's price point. The audio was superb and easy to use. A Prius Prime with that audio system would make the perfect car.

Why do you bother doing reviews of cars you can plug in, you certainly don't beleive in them, you look for excuses instead of being objective towards people who are looking at buying these, it does not need to be drained to be plugged in, your a joke.

@@ChristopherCarReviews I don't understand. I plug and unplug stuff in my garage almost every day anyway. How is this dirty and/or a pain? Even if you get 15 miles per charge, that's almost 5,500 gas free miles per year or 10 tanks of gas per year.
