I was wearing stilts as a 15-year-old on my dad's drywall crew, and they were a part of the routine for ten years before they wore me out and I moved into carpentry. Be careful of what's behind you because falling backwards (tripping while backing up) is not uncommon, and you lead with the back of your head. Stilts are great but can ruin you day (and your family's) quick -- especially if you're putting 'em on for the first time when you're in your 50s. 40% of deaths are fall-related in construction, obviously not just from stilts, but they're not like ladders: Falls from stilts typically involve a whipping effect, and you can't unwind a fall once it starts. Make sure the area is clear of obstructions: If there's a 5 gallon bucket of mud in your vicinity, you'll eventually run into it. :)
My mother used to tell the story of my uncle needing some way to do the plaster (pre-drywall) work and painting on the ceiling of the house he was building for his family after returning from WWII. He looked around and discovered that the best tool for the job was a couple of small chairs from a children's playset, so he tied them to his legs to give him the extra height he needed.
Haha, great thumbnail! I’ve only seen a guy use stilts when our building was being renovated, they look really useful. Hope the New Year is great for you and your family. God bless!
I've worked on stilts one time and it taught me that when you need to work over head or if scaffolding is not an option, they are the way to go. Also, they make me taller.
I guess I just always figured that without a fair bit of practice, working with stilts on would just be a hazard that's not worth the risk. Even with just 18" of elevation, a fall onto a hard floor can be pretty rough.

Happy New Year brother ... looking forward to many more interesting videos.
Good video dad!!
Thanks dude!
I thought you were going to show us a new HVLP spray gun!😂❤
At 53 my balance is already off some so I think that it would just magnify the problem
I'm not a religious man, but if I was I'd pray that the thumbnail for the first video of 2025 doesn't show you with your leg in plaster.
Hahaha! Me too👍
First!
(And great video!)
Woohoo! Congrats! Thank you so much. Cheers 👍
