Nice work. A handy tip I was told when doing a corbel is to temporarily put a weep vent in front on bed joint, then remove later and then point up. Keep up the good work, nice garage job you done. 👍👍

Yes rodders another great one. As said before mate I’m no bricky but I really like the way you haven’t gone for the perfect bricks, as you show the skill better and it shows beginners that on the job isn’t perfect more that it’s you as the tradesman and your skill, perfect bricks every now and then would be good for detail aspect of it and to show the different variants of brick but all the time would be in my opinion to clinical. But hey you the boss man 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Great video mate , that would be a good idea for video purposes getting a more regular size brick , you could always use them stocks for a permanent job in the garden ? Planter etc , I find a nice sandface brick with 3 perferations in it , is a great brick to lay for accuracy

I am not a brickie, I just like watching construction videos. I do like your channel it is informative and easy going. A little distracted with this one as I cannot help looking at, and wondering; is that three little dog poos in the frame or is it cement? LOL. Quite funny really. I presume its cement but it does look `iffy`. Excellent channel. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your brilliant channel. I would like to ask you a question: I have an outside toilet brick-shed wall with no cavity built into it and I am thinking of turning it into an extension and part of the house. I am thinking of keeping the longest part of the existing wall (which has no cavity) - which is 4m700 long then extend the wall on both ends to the same length as my house. This will be by fixing it with a strong tie wall bracket or taking out the end headers and building into it . The reason that I don't want to take down the existing wall is that I don't know how deep the original footings are and don't want to create more unnecessary work for myself seeing as the wall is already standing. What would you suggest I do in your expert opinion? Many Thanks.

Hi Rodian, nice corbel! Those bricks do look good but must give you grief with their wonkiness for things like this! I'm just starting on an extension on my house and the brick I'm using is Forterra (Hanson) County Multi Dragfaced (65mm), there's a few reasons why I'm using this brick, but since this is my first proper brick-laying job I'm a bit apprehensive that they pose certain challenges such as staining the faces and getting them all the right way up lol! A big advantage though is they're perfectly uniform in size and straightnes!
They do look great as a finish and blend in well with other bricks around, so if you do come across them any hints and tips regarding these bricks would be more than welcome as I haven't had any formal training on the trowel!
    Cheers.

Do you have a video on how to do the smoke chamber of a BBQ? I see BBQs where they are maybe 60-70cm inside and then the bricks need to be stepped in for the chimney on 3 or all 4 sides. I don't understand how that works and how it has the strength to sustain a chimney :(

In an ideal world would prefer to lay one course , go and do something else to let it go off . That way you can lay them level .General rule of thumb don't corbel more a quarter of a bricks length .Not practical to buy a pallet but if you could get your hands on a few Staff Blues might be helpful tutorial for the inexperienced viewers . Cracking job on the garage straight out of college .
