I believe the reason for this was to increase fov as iron sights and optics weren't common in FPS's back in the day. I know this was the reason for Swat 3 atleast. I presume the reasoning was the same for GR and RB6.
@@LtDanGaming It was because it obscured the FOV, though as iron sights and weapon-model-view became more common-place, they began adopting it more readily such as in Rainbow Six 3. Funnily enough, SWAT 3 has a weapon-model-view mode that you can activate through cheats in the console, which is the only way to make your weapon visible in that game. For Ghost Recon, there's a hack that you might be able to find that someone made that makes it so you can see your weapon. It's a bit janky though, as it places a camera right in front of your character's head to give you full body awareness, so it isn't completely optimized for use but it's something.
See, this is why I love this channel. Bringing back ALL the memories. As soon as I heard, "Welcome to Tblisi, gentlemen."
Finally figured out how to install heros unleashed cant wait to play it and also am I the only one who likes the sound effects for this game?
why didn't they add visible weapons for this game when they made it ? if anyone knows ...
I think it was just a limitation at the time, the first rainbow six also did not have first person weapon models
