Am I the only one who watches as many of these as I can just to see different effects pedal chains and amps? I mean I only of liked 2 or 3 of the bands I've ever seen on these but I still love watching the videos even if I don't know who the band is and will never listen to them.
To be fair, both those guys you mentioned are gregarious personalities and passionate about their craft. You compare these to the rig rundowns handled by a rugged guitar tech, and it's night and day. I know PG probably likes having regular, consistent / low-effort content, but they should really start requiring the artist to be on hand and to give a cheeky demonstration or two of their tones.
We're definitely not looking to gather low-effort content with these Rig Rundown shoots by not allowing artists to play or demo their gear. We love it! We encourage it! However, there are so many things that are happening behind the scenes that often curtail any noise being made (other bands soundchecking, union/noise ordinances, doors open/crowd entering, unsure/uneasy artists who shy away from plunky-plunky demos). Trust us, we feel the best RRs are when we get the guitarist and they fire up their rigs. 100%.
Thanks for the reply Premier Guitar, I really like your videos/mag. I understand where you're coming from, and I'll be on the lookout for future rundowns, maybe with some guitar playing in them!
Yeah, Mutemath opened for 21 Pilots (drummer soundchecking) and as you can imagine on any national tour, the headliners don't give two squats about the opening band or what they're doing. At least we got the RR! Thanks for watching.
Yeah 4 years ago, it's a new tour and from the pictures I've seen and from the time I saw them live I can conclude his rig changed a lot. Marcus Dembinski
Can someone please explain to me how they manage to play the bass without an amp? I know he explained it in the video, but I need more details. Thanks.
Gerson Bedoya Lozano Generally, the bass can go through a DI box or a preamp and routed directly into the mixer. It provides some headroom for a live mix.
Sorry JR, we think Chris was just looking for a clarification for himself (and the audience) on what classification the Morning Glory fell into (i.e., distortion, overdrive, fuzz) since everyone doesn't know about every pedal ever made. Enjoy our channel!
Me neither. Just checked out a YT video. I absolutely cannot be more disappointed with the way music is heading these days. Why is there a rig rundown with this? I don't even hear a single live instrument in this band. All fake computer pop.
Well just in this last album they started doing heavy electronic stuff. Their other albums are great. Look up for their YT channel, they got some nice live videos.
+Duke Ukulele there's a few problems and it's a pitty because they make some good pedals Firstly they stole one of devi evers (?) fuzz designs, sold it as an original (for way more money) and then tried to get her dropped from her distributor as a result they are also linked to a fundementalist Christian organisation (nothing wrong with being Christian mind) that is involved in gay conversation therapy and other horrible pursuits Add on to that the fact that most of their pedals are clones sold at a massive mark up they're just not nice people there probably the only boutique pedal builder that are dodgy as well almost everyone else are decent
+frankie28web most of the pedals are hair straight up clones overpriced ones as well if you can stomach giving lots of money to a company that helps fund gay conversation therapy then hey don't listen to me
Right so I've read up on this now, and I've formed and opinion. My problem with JHS lies on the faith side of the argument, though Josh has never stated that his company is explicitly "Christian", which would defend them from allegations of breaking there faith, through cloning, etc, it should go embedded in his morals, however most of the clones he makes are either out of production, or modified upon, and so I see that as acceptable; he even took his klone out of production when Klon released the KTR. On the Devi
business: its tricky, but she herself is no princess. She's done a lot of dodgy stuff, especially concerning kickstarter money. I would say however that the pedals are somewhat different, and Josh only stated that it was a DE style pedal. Technically its still all legal, just not quite moral.
jcjunior86 I saw this at the beginning of watching and I was bracing myself for a Fractal lol. But no just another good RR, and another dick in the comments. Way to go PG keep up the good work and funny comments!
Better questions are why are you watching it if you don't know who they are, where doesn't matter, and why bother commenting on a band you don't care about.

Love Mutemath. I've been waiting for a Rig Rundown for some time! Thanks!
The band that inspired me to become a musician and performer. I freaking love this band! Their first album is killer
I like that the pedal cased with the Dude has a switch that says "Dude/Undude"
This is 2024 and I aways see myself coming back to this video. Love Mutemath.
One of the greatest bands I've heard from our generation! Can't say enough. Thanks for posting!

Richard Aaron - I am right there with you. I have never heard of most of these bands, but I love seeing what people use.
me to
It's pronounced Muff AH LOTTA not Muff ah LETTA
Favorite band ... thanks Chris!
Love the Tool in the background at 18:03.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
I really wish more artists would actually demo their gear with these, like Nels Cline and Paul Gilbert did. That is so helpful.

Thank you. Thank you so much.
DO SWITCHFOOT NEXT
HEY CHRIS you do the whole no hair thing really well i wish i could get away with that!
MM is legendary.
The Chieftan Deluxe guitar is equipped with Porter pickups.
They should plan the Rig Rundown when the drummer has already done his soundcheck ;-)
Yeah, Mutemath opened for 21 Pilots (drummer soundchecking) and as you can imagine on any national tour, the headliners don't give two squats about the opening band or what they're doing. At least we got the RR! Thanks for watching.
absolutely !thanks for this interview i always wondered what they used
great band n great people !
Could you tell me the name/make of the loop switcher please. cheers
both their pedalboards are simpler than I thought they would be. They get a lot out of them!
Yea, I thought they'd be insane, but it's fairly modest!
Second guy has a voice which reminds me a king of the hill character.
I like Mutemath, and by Mutemath, I mean the band from the first two albums! The original guitar player was the GOAT.
The chili peppers went through chicago, is there a Josh Klinghoffer rundown (2016) coming? :)))
There already is one from a year or so ago
Yeah 4 years ago, it's a new tour and from the pictures I've seen and from the time I saw them live I can conclude his rig changed a lot. Marcus Dembinski
We're hoping to get one in early 2017 when supposedly RHCP is touring the US (including Nashville, our video HQ).
the roots "the seed" sound check lol
Get those advert boxes out of the way of the gear.
Can someone please explain to me how they manage to play the bass without an amp? I know he explained it in the video, but I need more details. Thanks.

Please do Yob one day

Lmao hear Chef'Special soundchecking in the background
The pickups look like duesenberg pickups.
He didnt showcase the mopbucket
We did not, but we do know that it is true bypass.
The pickups looks like SD phat cats, maybe... :D
what is the song that starts on the background at 18:15?
sounds like The Seed 2.0 by the Roots
Holy shit can you never use that pop up again? The close button is totally blocked off too
"Is it an overdrive?" - Chris Kies on the JHS Morning Glory, 2016
Jesus.... -_____-
Sorry JR, we think Chris was just looking for a clarification for himself (and the audience) on what classification the Morning Glory fell into (i.e., distortion, overdrive, fuzz) since everyone doesn't know about every pedal ever made. Enjoy our channel!
I have literally never heard of this band
Look them up, you won't be disappointed
Me neither. Just checked out a YT video. I absolutely cannot be more disappointed with the way music is heading these days. Why is there a rig rundown with this? I don't even hear a single live instrument in this band. All fake computer pop.
+nitemareman1 I get the feeling they will do these for any band signed to a major label
Well just in this last album they started doing heavy electronic stuff. Their other albums are great. Look up for their YT channel, they got some nice live videos.
+Daniel Blanco nah, who gives a shit
so many people in the comments dont know mutemath? wtf were you born just a couple years ago or something?
He should have used his last period of art.
Cutemath.
When the bass check is Tool's riffs...

"What are the pickups?"
"Man, I don't know..."
Well, thanks for wasting my time.
PC160 you really care what kind of pickups are in this smucks guitar
Lol nice
Flatwounds. Don't change them. Goodbye tone. Yes, pretty "consistent".
jhs are a horrible company with really dodgy connections wouldn't play through any of there stuff
Can you explain further? I've heard about this, and im interested

Once upon a time when there was interesting rigs rundown.
Unsubscribing! 👍🏻
Thanks for checking out our free videos. Best wishes,
This rig rundown was completely interesting. Just because it isn't your favorite guitarist...
jcjunior86 I saw this at the beginning of watching and I was bracing myself for a Fractal lol. But no just another good RR, and another dick in the comments. Way to go PG keep up the good work and funny comments!
They can do better than a guy that sticks stuff on a junk guitar!
Who where and why am I watching this crap
It's on the internet.
Internet*
It's a name of a network so it's a capital I.
Better questions are why are you watching it if you don't know who they are, where doesn't matter, and why bother commenting on a band you don't care about.
Well don't demo the gear or anything, we much rather see you hold your guitars and talk about your amp and effects... Zzzzzzzzzzz wtf
We're definitely not looking to gather low-effort content with these Rig Rundown shoots by not allowing artists to play or demo their gear. We love it! We encourage it! Ugliest guitar on planet. Not cool..
absolutely terrible band.
